DirtTime
Man what a storm! Mini tornado and it left it's mark for a few days. I got out yesterday morning to a place I had set up some brush blinds and even being a thick area the wind had either blew them away or knocked branches all over them. Not much I could do at 5:30AM in the dark to clean them up without making a ton of noise, so I just hunkered into a small area with some thick brush behind me and saplings on my sides. For the others in or near the area how bad did your hunting areas get hit? Blinds and stands still up or did the storm make a mess for you as well? GreeneHunter
Yeah we got our power back about 4 pm yesterday , got tired of filling the generator but I have 2 freezers and don't need the loss ! Did cutup a neighbors falling / blown down cotton wood . I'll split it over the next week or so ( they didn't want it ) ! DirtTime
We don't have a generator, so we lost a lot of meat we had stored in our upright freezer. Sucked, but nothing that can be done. We will have a generator in the next couple weeks. Can't deal with that again, and I can't have my heat tape freezing up again due to no power like last winter. mowin
We lost power for about 6 hrs. My brother was still out last night around 7:30. Lots of damage in our area.
UpStateRedNeck
We got ours back about 630 yesterday. Longer than the hurricane outage. Except we didn't have an 8 year old and a 4 year old then. 3 days felt like an eternity. Starting to really stress out last night, had just left to get Sonic, stopped by the guys working the lines and they said it had just come back on. Borrowed my dad's generator so I didn't lose my freezer full of sausage and leftover venison from last year. This episode has me seriously considering a Tesla Powerwall 2 to go with our solar. Probably wouldn't help much in the winter. Plus I'm saving my pennies to fix the road and build a nice cabin on the property. But man, is it tempting. DirtTime
It wasn't a fun ride for a few days that's for sure. If you needed wood for a fire place or wood stove you just needed to drive around and ask as I'm sure a lot of people would have been or maybe still would be happy to have the debris off the lawns. Elm, oak, ash, and some other good burning wood from the downed trees just laying around.

Just finished stacking 5 cords but some green wood for next year would be great.

On the way back from a hunt yesterday I noticed a lot of trees laying in yards near Mead Rd., plus a bunch of other areas.

Eh I'm between South Beth and Coeymans hollow. I wish I had time to do this, but its hard to justify it over other stuff when I have almost enough wood to make it to fall 2022, cut split and stacked already. A couple loads of green blocks sounds really excellent though..........
