I haven't seen many either. Most oaks around me are empty.  Apple trees have been the same

Whites are done by me for the most part.  Few reds around, they like a little freeze action before I see the deer rip them up. They seem to be in corn and alfalfa in the ag. Still can eat anywhere in the woods.
