Aviation Metal Smith
How many of you ride bicycles long distance and/or on trails? Has the bicycle parts shortage curtailed your riding? Do you use a rear-view mirror? Action camera (example, GoPro) ? Or both? Have you ever bought a bicycle that had some sort of gimmick, like automatic transmission, or shaft drive? Jeremy K
I typically enjoy riding a bike a single digit temps and 10 inches of snow so yes ,it has curtailed my riding.

I ordered some bikes for us during the pandemic that never arrived due to the shortages. Never had too much interest really in biking Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Aviation Metal Smith
Yes, the Covid-19 bicycle shortage hit us hard. Bicycle sales skyrocketed 124%, but then every bike in the USA was sold (every bike under $750.00) which is not a good thing. I’ve cleared off-road paths in the woods before, but lately I’ve adapted my talents to clearing roadside vegetation. Always wear a reflective vest or orange shirt. Rear-View mirror on any bicycle is a must. Those items are also sold-out at Walmart last time I checked. Well, I don’t know what way this thread is going to go, I’ll check back for more replies... I have attached a few photos of my DIY project. Made from a board of Coroplast corrugated polypropylene (available at Home Depot, next to the plexiglass and shower doors). The rear view mirrors were photographed at Walmart. I have nothing for sale. I’m only building DIY projects.

Fat Dan
Besides hunting and fishing, mountain biking is probably my favorite activity. I don't ride much from October until April, unfortunately. The snow and wet trails have kept me away.
Aviation Metal Smith
I haven’t ridden since 21 January (and that was a CitiBike ride to Central Park). But I brought my winter tires out of storage. The studded tire is for the front wheel. I can handle a little tail-out maneuvering. The carbide studs are for ice.
ncountry
Cool project.. I have not biked more than 20 miles in years. I lived next to the ap trail for a couple years in Connecticut and may have ridden all over it ..lol
