Pay a septic company and well company for separate inspections. They’ll find it, dig up the parts they can see and check it for you.

Agreed. They will test the water and can usually shock out any bacterial growth that is down there.

Un used for 5 years you will have some but it’s not a big deal. You can always boil if you have to Also.

Call your local Cooperative Extension about water tests. Cornell does them for a very minimal cost. Do you have access to a portable generator? If so, bring it and backfeed it to the pump/camp, and fire it up. See what the flow is and if you can drain it. If you bring a couple 55 gallon drums, you can get a good idea of its capacity, and it wouldnt  be a bad idea to drain the well anyway. Then if you shock it, you are starting with fresher water.

The well is tested prior to sale,as is the septic is dye tested prior to closing to insure the septic is working correctly.

Then you’re good. Home ownership is a non-stop slog of fixing shit. Septics last a long time, especially one that sees casual use. The only thing I would say is go easy on it’s use at first to get it accustomed to the new load.

Seems too be that every county in the state has their own rules and regulations, this constitutes that every county has its own oversight.Too bad the state didnt have 1 dept. to have policy, and regulate .

Mine did. That is, checked the portability of the water and did a dye test on the septic. Outside of digging them up, not sure what else you can test.

Not in an non-CO cabin. At least not here in Delaware County. When does your county come in and test well water during a sale?

And this will prob continue to be a non-CO cabin, and it just so happens to be in delaware co.
