Damn. Pretty sure that's the shooter 8 chasing another deer in 3N NY at 651am where I would have hunted this morning but crazy winds and rain I chose Tuesday morning to hunt instead.

10/6: hunted 3N the morning until 10am. No deer seen.

Checked a few cams on the way out. Same 3 bucks on all cams 400-500yds apart over the last month. The regular spike, the broken half rack spike, and shooter 8pt. Along with bobcat, yote and group Of does/fawns.

Hopefully another shooter shows up in November otherwise I only got a few more weeks to kill that eight point before my Dad does with the crossbow.

I have way more sightings in crappy weather than (to us) nice weather days. I have learned to get out in adverse weather more than I would like lol.

 

Also a reason I do not run cell cams. It would drive me nuts watching deer where I am not lol.

10/9: hunted 3N NY 3pm - dark. 330pm saw 2 deer. Had them in binocs at 80-90yds but couldn’t see heads. Oh well.

10/15: hunted 3N NY in morning till 11am. No deer seen. No scrapes or rubs in typical spots. Zero acorns and cams not showing much. Slowest start to a season since I started bowhunting. Never gone this long into a season without seeing a buck. Only positive is target 8pt was still alive as of 10/10. I surely miss my 3S Westchester spot

Same here. I usually see more bucks than does. Real slow start for me. I did catch a line of fresh scrapes today from last night though.

Yea definitely. In 3N we have killed 9 bucks in the last 6 years all in November. We will never see a ton of deer, just have to make those few sightings count.

But my 3S spot was nice for seeing October bucks.

Tons of Oaks, but zero acorns in this CT spot.

10/19: Sit # 7 overall. Hunted the morning in 3N-NY. Saw 1 deer at 635am. Couldn’t make out head. Too dark.

10/19: PM sit in CT, saw nothing. Browning cam has same 2 does and fawn midday and yotes. No pics of 10pt since 9/18 and still no other bucks on cam since March shed bucks

10/22: AM sit in 3N-NY. 9th sit of season.

at 6:30am I saw something coming towards me. I thought it was a bear at first, but it was too small. It was either a coyote or a raccoon, and I clip my release on the bow and I was gonna draw, but I realized it was so dark I wouldn’t even be able to see in the site and when I got like 8 feet away I didn’t want to come any closer, so I stood up out of my chair and it ran away down into the valley.

At 10am I started to make slow walk out of woods and right near a stonewall 2 deer stood and ran away. Both bucks. Looked like a small 6pt and the other one was spike or small 4pt in binocs. They must have bedded right where I walked in after me because nothing spooked when I came in. So many rocks I literally didn't crunch 1 leaf on my way in or out, just stepped rock to rock.

10/30: hunted the morning in 3N. No deer seen. Our shooter 8 was still around as of 10/19 when i hunted Otherside of property. And a new buck arrived, browless 4pt that might be 2.5

Just got this sequence in CT of does and the 10pt (first pic of him since 9/18, and he’s the only Buck I have pics of since July besides 2 resident does with 1 fawn almost daily ). Was going to hunt NY Thursday but maybe I’ll try CT instead

Raining today so checked my CT Browning cam. Got a yote with something in mouth and the 10pt. The bad news is someone setup a ground blind, trail cam and corn 30-40 yards from my cell cam. The cam had no deer pics on it. I stood in front for a pic and left a note in the blind. Hopefully we can coordinate hunts

I'm guessing the bookcase thing as a rest for a crossbow. since it's at the window facing the small corn pile and camera. Maybe the hunter knows nothing happening before november? haha trying to stay positive. either way, it's a bunch of added pressure to the woods. oh well
