Thompson Center not what they used to be

I always thought stainless steel was just weather resistant not rust proof? You still have to clean and oil the barrel to keep rust off stainless because the oils on your skin are so corrosive. I have a T/C triumph with weather shield on the barrel and it has never rusted as advertised. I have never oiled it either just wipe off and put in the gun cabinet.

Roselyn the criminal fromTC basically lied just like a real pro as if she was born to it. Said she never said they would refund my money or replace the barrel. I reminded her that I was actually in the conversation and so I know what the deal was but she stuck to her guns at which point I called a spade a spade. She actually tried to say that I sent the barrel back to them so they could dispose of it!!! Total dishonesty and more like a street hoodlum than a proper person. There is no working with trash like that I have no choice but to file suit. I'll lose money but in the end somebody has to go after criminals like that or they run over everybody.

Stainless will rust just like any other metal. Your weather shield will corrode too and you should care for it just like any other rifle. In my case the barrel rusted even though it was properly cared for.

Ive never had a problem with the weather shield. And ive hunted in blowing snow freezing rain and down right down pours with it. But then again I really dont mind a little rust on the outside. My guns are tools and I dont care if they look pretty as long as they shoot straight. I refuse to get wood stocks anymore because after one season they are beat to hell. :D

As far as rust goes, about the only gun in my safe that has any rust would be my H&R Sportsman. My gun that probably has the most days in the field, under harsh conditions (for WNY) would be my Ithaca M87 DS II. (I think thats what it is called) IIRC, I bought it new in '88 and used it until maybe 2004 for all my days in the field during deer season. The weather that that gun saw was terrible. How many all day (11 hours on stand) hunts do you think it was on? Plenty. Snow, rain, sleet etc. No rust and the wood looks pretty darn good. Bluing is worn a bit in the normal areas from carrying.

Wiping it down with a dry cloth, a quick hit with a oiled bore snake then wiping the entire gun down with a nice smelly oiled cloth takes MAYBE 3-5 minutes.

Stainless steel needs loving also.......................

A Weather shield rifle will corrode it just doesn't corrode as easily. I had a Triumph with weather shiled but gave it to my son. I guess I'm tough on my rifles too. I generally camp (tent now that I'm old and hanicapped) for at least a couple of weeks in the hunting season and have found that wiping the rifle down each time I return to camp with an oily rag or rem oil wipes really preserves a rifle. The only problem I ever had with wood was it swelling in the rain or wet snow.
