I think the reason they want an early bow opener is to haevest more deer, period. we are all guilty of passing deer with bow in hopes for a good one. makes our harvest stats look bad as a group. so increase season and weapon choices(perhaps allowing crossbow) to get a larger harvest. As for the youth hunt... its a good thing and it won't wreck bowseason cause every "seasonal" landowner goes out scouting and sighting in guns all during bow and the deer are still there.

I do love this site. NY state though, is a different story to me. If it wasnt for family ties, I wouldnt be here.

Either there is a fawn with the doe or the doe has too many legs . I wish the bush wasn't there so I could see better .

yep, i think the biggest "pressure" comes from seasonal , atv scouting trips, and all the wood smoke in the air 3-4 weeks before season. they get use to it if you live there but not when it pops up over night... seems everyone else is the pressure problem, it about high time we take alook at ourselves and out scouting/preperation rutuals... I say let the kids have a great hunt and maybe they wont get hooked on video games and such and learn to enjoy the ooutdoors a little..

That buck is going to be a beast come October. By the looks of things hes darn near working on a 20 in spread.

I switched from Rage to the swhacker. Don't think I'll shoot anything but them now. I'm sure my wife would be happy to find out how much I spent on broad heads today! hahaha

Seems we all have our reasons "what a hunter" means to us. I can associate with just about all the reasons given by all. Some days one reason is more important to me than the other and in retrospect, as I have gotten older and possibly wiser, the "what it means" to me changed with the years. I hunt because I can and because it brings out a primeval sense in me that I don't get working in an office! It's me against me. I hope I never loose that feeling!
