actually the "bottom line" is that there are tons of compound bowhunters that don't practice at all. They just pull out the bow the night before the opener and then attempt to chuck arrows.that's your true "bottom line". Crossbows aren't going to add these huge numbers that the naysayers fear.

So now there is a Crossbow section, who owns / is getting one?

Thanks, that could save a few bucks. -

I bought an Excalibur a fews years back and hope that I will not be using it anytime soon. I prefer my Bowtech compound and as long as my aging body is able to draw it I would prefer to hunt with the compound over the crossbow. That said, it would be great to have a backup plan and be able to go the crossbow when the day arrives that I suffer an injury, or I am just too old and unable to shoot the compound. Until then Bowtech Invasion all the way! -
1) "huge influx of people"? we should all be so lucky that "huge" hunter numbers were present in any aspect of hunting as that would help us all. Unfortunately hunter numbers are on a steady decline.2) "limits or dangers of handling and usage"? a) limits are similar to any string / limb launched projectile as arrow /bolt will fall quickly as it travels downrange. handling and usage are similar to any weapon that can be locked and loaded, which most gun owners are already familar. I really don't see any major concerns here as the proof lies in the many states where things have gone along just fine.

I started the edit on this word balloon trail cam picture I picked up and thought it might be fun for you all to fill in the blank. I have a few but I'll save em for now. What might she be thinking or say?
-
yep, she don't look impressed. actually, I think I'll start a new thread with what she might be thinking.
-
yep, with this next one he's saying " look honey, one leg". what do you think she's thinking?

this guy is downright quacky.

I wish my Taxidrmist did the ears as well as yours. I like them laid back a little as you did.

an Easton Epic @ 7.3 grains / inch is a light shaft, and that arrow was chronographed at 310 ft /sec is what I believe he said. tough to figure how that math adds up. yes, a light arrow will travel faster but you would need a lot of KE to get that arrow to a 200 hundred yard target even after aiming high. Now you have a light arrow bending a whole bunch out of the bow and traveling in the wind 200 yards downrange. quite a feat to pull off.

yep, I remember the "undead" from the original "night of the living dead" movie eating pretty well, as they feasted on intestines like they were weenies.

These are from a Panasonic "homebrew" trail cam on one of my favorite settings:

real nice; very unigue set of pictures. the exposure on the porcupine pic is right on. -
I put a Bushnell "Trophy cam" out on the creek to see what it can do and when there was bright sunlight behind the north facing unit the results were good. One advantage this cam has over "homebrews" is that it takes more than 2X the pictures as there is a 3 shot burst mode option and a short delay bewtween trigger events.

these pictures were captured with "homebrew" trail cam units. most pics were from old model Sony cams, and some pics come from a cam that features a fairly recent model Panasonic.

some cams working the creek.

I'm coming down to "the island" that weekend for 2 other reasons (taxes done and Dad's birthday) but I would like to squeeze it into my schedule. Man, my bow has some cobwebs on it though. I wil have to take it out today and practice some. Sounds like a good time; so what that I might not hit much. hope to se you all there, Mike (Middletown,NY) do I have to "RSVP" to attend as I'm not sure at this point?

parallel universe with Zulu and Ahora wearing thigh high leather. seriously though, I wouldn't think mentioning the name of a buisness would merit removing a post.
