  1. You don't even understand that no one is really arguing about whether or not we should have been pulling out of Afghanistan. Let me see if I can clarify the controversy for you. It is all about the backwards way this stumbling, bumbling simpleton has gone about it. I hope this reply is not too long for your reading capabilities.
  2. Sorry that the logic of my posts are too much of a challenge for your reading skills. I was not aware that you were literacy challenged. It is a shame that discussion of current events can't be reduced down to your level of reading. That is probably why you are completely unaware of Biden's plummeting poll numbers. Too many words for you to comprehend in those articles too.
  3. Don't worry too much about the afghan people who assisted us. We'll be doing good to even get our own people out of there. In fact, even that doesn't look too hopeful anymore. The time to remove Sleepy Joe and his giggling Vice-President was back during the election. We had a pile of voters who thought that the presidential election was a popularity contest and voted for a candidate that hid in the basement for fear his senility would become an issue. Well today it IS an issue and a deadly one at that. He has caused international damage that will take decades to undo. Who would have guessed that ignorant voters and our own communist Pravda could create so much havoc and internal strife. All I can say is what I saw on a lawn sign: "Don't blame me.....I voted for Trump".
  4. And it kind of livens up these hunting forums too......LOL.

    I remember

I remember when there was so many hunters that you could track the path of the deer on the far hill just by listening to the path of shooting. I got one dandy buck just by listening to the direction all the shooting was going, and positioning myself in an escape route that I knew the deer used. Now, after 9:00 or 10:00 am, the shooting is so sparse that you would think the season was over.
  6. Spoken like a true Biden Democrat.....As if that is the only option. Funny you have no problem with importing 1/2 of Central America. Now-a-days, you are the only one that I hear supporting the idiot that you people voted in. He is doing a splendid job of destroying the country, which may actually be the goal of all you libs. But take a look at those polls you mentioned and try not to get too lonely. Even the majority of libs are starting to turn of stumbling Joe and his laughing hyena of a vice president. I'm thinking the only thing that is saving the guy from impeachment is the realization of who would take over if he went. Well now we have dead marines and stranded Americans who the Taliban will be using as bargaining chips for even more of our treasure (good job Joe). And yet even with the Biden socialist idea of paying people not to work, the border debacle and the socialist spending agenda, and the inflation, and the loss of our energy independence, and the botched foreign policy decisions and now the screwed up withdrawal from Afghanistan, and "Sleepy-Joe who spent the whole campaign hiding in his basement for fear people might figure out his senility, there still is 20-something percent of his dedicated loyal followers that can't see him doing any wrong. What the hell is the matter with you people? The fact is that it is not Biden's fault. It is the fault of all the people who voted for him without ever looking at what he is. You people and your sycophant mainstream media have become our biggest threat to our country. The creeping socialists. It became a very scary world in one election cycle and there are so many people who either don't see it or don't care. I'm sorry, I don't mean to be so blunt, but it sure does seem as though there needs to be some straight talk around here.

    I remember

I remember when I was about 12 years old and built a pretty nice long bow out of a hickory stave, And with some willow arrows, went up in the hay loft of the barn and killed two pigeons, cleaned them and ate them. That was my first bow hunt..... I remember my first deer hunt with a gun when a high school buddy and I camped out up on the hill in a lean-to for a week. I missed my first deer that week.
  8. My goals now are pretty modest. They amount to just being able to place one foot in front of the other and climb that "killer hill" out behind the house .......lol. I won't be worrying about counting points or scores or anything like that. I just want to keep a strong bow arm and participate and, add another year of hunting to the others. Keep 'em coming!

    I remember

I love these reminiscing threads. It is so great to enjoy the times that so many of us experienced growing up. It does help understand attitudes and where people are coming from with their opinions.
  10. All this makes you wonder why we have ANY "special" seasons" at all? Why not just have "Deer Season", and use any weapon you want? Isn't that what crossbow hunters really want anyway? Some of you crossbow proponents must kind of have that feeling. Why do you want to exclude guns from a certain part of the deer season. Isn't that a bit of an elitist and exclusionary attitude and perhaps showing a bit of selfishness? Let's really open up bow season and stop hogging up the woods for the elitist bow and crossbow hunters. I know a lot of rifle hunters that would love to have that nice warm part of the year to use their guns on deer. Of course I say all this with tongue-cheek, but when you listen to the arguments for demanding full inclusion of crossbows, that thought of an "any-weapon" deer season has to cross your mind.
  11. So, exactly why do we have all these special seasons? Why not just have a deer hunting season where you use whatever you want. Perhaps that is the solution to all the controversy.

    I remember

I remember when we used to drive around looking at all the deer that hung in people's front yards. I remember when deer used to be displayed on the fenders and roofs of cars when hunters drove home. I remember climbing the hill across the road about half-way in the dark on opening morning and watching the long stream of cars heading down the road, bumper-to-bumper. Today that same road on opening morning looks like any other day. I remember when I was a kid waiting for the bus, on opening morning, the surrounding woods in the valley sounded like some kind of war zone. Now there is a little spurt before and after the first legal shooting hours that trail off into very sporadic occasional shots.
  13. Every deer hunting rifle and shotgun that I own has a scope on it. That limits my abilities on moving targets. I also would feel a bit like I was pushing the safety envelope swinging my gun through the woods at a fleeing deer and only being able to see such a limited amount of the terrain as I am pulling the trigger. People can do whatever they feel comfortable with, but I think the higher percentages of a good humane kill for me lies with shooting calm, unaware, relaxed, deer. It just increases the chances of a happy result with no regrets.

    I remember

There is no question that hunting is being eased out of our heritage and culture. I was just thinking how things have changed, just over the course of my life, regarding how society sees hunting. I remember when: The gun hunting course was conducted in the school bus garage. I used to go to school with my hunting knife hanging on my belt after running my trapline. Kids used to actually look forward to the age when they could legally hunt. Opening day of deer season was an approved absence from school. Monday mornings at work found a rather large circle of us friends discussing the weekend hunt. It was exciting conversation when your buddies saw a deer while bowhunting........Buck, doe, adult, fawn.....any deer at all. The topic of antler scores never came up. We didn't rate our deer hunting activities in terms of "scores". Thanksgiving day dinners were delayed until suppertime so all the men could hunt. Whenever a group of men gathered for any occasion, hunting stories dominated the conversations. Discussions about hunting did not focus on the latest technology or equipment. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Does anyone else remember how things have changed regarding hunting in our lives and society?
  15. Airbows and who knows what all they may come up with. I have heard arguments for inclusion of muzzleloaders. Actually they already overlap in the Northern Zone now don't they?
  16. The only impacts that I see is the continued additional precedents that are being set that says, "anything you don't know what to do with can be crammed into bow season". With technology being ever increasing in hunting implements, I see bow season evolving into things that we can't even yet imagine. I see the crossbow argument for those who are getting older and more infirm (As I am too) eventually becoming an argument for firearms inclusion. Exactly the same argument could be used for firearms too. What bothers me is that every new inclusion is a precedent for the next. History bears this out with compounds now leading to crossbows. What will crossbows lead to? That's the question we have to ask.
  17. Ever since "special seasons" were established, groups of hunters have always fought other groups of hunters from infringing on those special seasons. That is why we don't have firearms involved with bow seasons (mostly). And don't be assuming what bowhunters do or don't do as far as supporting all hunting. I don't know a lot of bowhunters who do not participate in gun season as well, and a lot are involved in the current crossbow season. Just because someone is interested in maintaining the integrity of a particular special season doesn't mean that they don't support other means of hunting.
  18. What is it about the word "illegal" in illegal aliens that people can't understand? These are people whose very presence here is based on an illegal act against our country. They do not have or deserve the protections of the constitution or any act that is currently reserved for "legal" citizens of this country (including the right to vote). That seems reasonable to me.
  19. So, is there anything that sleepy Joe has done right? ........Ever??? He has destroyed USA energy independence. He has let in all kinds of all kinds of illegal aliens by creating a wide open border. He has created an much more efficient import route through the southern border. He has created the easier import of lethal drugs through the open southern border. He has paved the way for some pretty violent and blood thirsty gang members to silently enter our communities through the open southern border. He has created opportunities for child and women abuse along the trail to the open border. He has set the foundation for a destroyed US economy (Now I can watch my retirement fund get eaten up by destructive inflation). Now he has totally screwed up our exit from Afghanistan by removing all troops before U.S. and allied personnel and U.S. assisted locals. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So what have I forgotten. I'm sure there is more. Maybe I should have simplified the post by asking , "What has this guy ever done right?" I am sure that would be a much shorter list if it would even result in a list at all. I'm sorry that this post is so one-sided, but I am puzzled daily with the question of why on earth did anyone vote for Biden. I can't come up with anything that makes sense other than the fact that Trump simply had a screwed up personality. That really is a damn-fool reason for voting for or against a president. People mistook the election for a popularity contest.
  20. I can only repeat the words of a lawn-sign down the road....."Don't blame me. I voted for Trump" Is there anything that Biden has handled correctly......*ANYTHING*? I have to wonder who really is running the country. This thing and so many other U.S. crises are so unexplainably messed up in ways that really are starting to look intentional.
  21. We need more than just putting in a Republican in place of a Democrat. We don't need any more Rockefellers or Pataki - type liberals. This state needs a real voter attitude change, and that will not be found within a political party. We need voters who take their vote seriously and start going by more than simple party affiliation. We need voters who are not impressed by, or motivated by Gimme-free-stuff attitudes. We need to start understanding that there is no such thing as a free lunch. We need to get attitudes that appreciate honesty and integrity. We need to stop shrugging our shoulders every time we hear about government corruption. The reforms needed in NYS will not come from dedication to certain political parties. The changes need to come from citizen attitudes and resolve and an understanding that we get the government we deserve. Now, if someone can tell me how to make that all happen, I would appreciate hearing it. All I see from one generation to the next is an erosion of decency, family values, and commitment to honesty and character (individual and political). There has been to much shoulder shrugging and acceptance of the creeps that we New Yorkers keep electing. Behind the Cuomo's and the Spitzers and such is an ever growing majority of self-absorbed voters who look for more "free stuff" and promises of personal gain and who will accept anyone who promises that sort of thing.

    He Gone!!

Do they all reach up under women's blouses and grab their asses as a demonstration of warmth....lol. Come on....The guy is a filthy perve who has a God complex and thought that he could get away with anything he wanted.
  23. After months of stories and believable allegations Andy is out of the picture. But now I have to wonder what life will be like under Governor Hochul? Anybody have the lowdown on her other than she will become the first female NYS Governor. Are we going from the frying pan into the fire? I have no idea what her views are on anything.
  24. So far, I have not found a reason to resist taking the Trump vaccine. I do remember that when I was a little tyke, there was a whole list of vaccinations that were mandated in order for me to enter public schools. The same thing was required when I enrolled my two boys in the public school system years ago. I don't recall any moral or political issues being involved then, and I also had no problem with an injection of the Trump vaccine. I got it for my own well being so that being an old fart, I felt I was lessening a threat to my life. I do wear seatbelts too. It began to satisfy a law, but today it just plain feels weird to be going down the road without being buckled up. After reasonable logic, it seemed that it is the smart thing to do, and no particular sane reasons not to. This vaccine falls into the same category. It is not a nice situation that such things have become a mandate mandated, but to me it just plain makes sense to get it. Is it really a moral dilemma? It wasn't for me, but I do understand that there are people who do not want to be forced by government to put a material into their body. I have not yet become quite that paranoid yet. But I will not belittle those that have these kinds of concerns even though I cannot understand the resistance.
