  1. Columbine also had an armed guard at the school.
  2. It will never gain support here. Not the least bit scared.
  3. It would help if you gave your general location. I know SSF is in 3M, but that doesn't mean you actually live there. I hunt turkey there in the Spring, but I live in the city. I feel the most important factor in a successful hunt, especially if you are on state, is scouting. Don't expect to hop onto state land you've never been on before and come home with something, it's rarely that simple.
  4. Except (of course) in NYC. When you apply for your rifle/shotgun permit in the city, you are asked to list a contact that can legally take possession of your firearms in case of death. If you do not list one, expect the police to drop by and confiscate them.
  5. Stupidity. Though it invoked this image in my head:
  6. Honestly, I wish I felt comfortable enough to build my own, but as this will be the first time I will have/own/use an semi-auto, I would rather purchase a complete firearm. I'm also really trying hard to stay away from the "black gun" look, just out of personal preference, not judging anyone who like it. I'm definitely going to check out the DPMS line of .223s. Thank you all for the advice.
  7. Thanks for the info, I'll check it out. One thing that is limiting me is I'm trying to purchase the gun at Cabelas (due to the fact I cashed out my credit card points for gift certificates, lol).
  8. Thank you! Just saw this now, I've been internet free since last Wednesday night.
  9. NY City's law is stricter than that already. You can only purchase one (1) firearm every ninety (90) days from (loophole alert) the same gun dealer. I'm not saying I agree with this law, as it seems so easy to side step it, I'm not sure of its point, but I wanted to point out that rules like this are already on the book. The only thing I can think of is several background checks from different dealers in a short time frame might raise a red flag somewhere.
  10. Most politicians I know don't care what type of tee shirt you wear. Just say'n.
  11. Don't worry, I wasn't offended by anything you said. I just get a lot of the natives restless here because I'm the closest thing to an "Anti" that posts actively. If I was to post the exact same views on a heavily liberal sight, I'd be cursed at for being a gun nut. Tough to be a middle-of-the-road guy on the internet.
  12. Oh no, please don't call me names on the internet while telling me of your amazing accomplishments as a man! My ego is crushed by your inability to not sound like you're quoting from the gun-nut handbook.
  13. A foreign country's invasion sized force on US soil? Seriously? I think you've watched Red Dawn too many times as a kid. Who is invading? Canada? Mexico? Wait, I got it, China is going to take their one already outdated aircraft carrier and a shit load of transports and drop a million troops on the shores of California! How do you quote the original meaning of the 2nd amendment (protecting citizens from its government) in one post, and say you're talking about foreign invaders in the next?
  14. And when did I every say I wanted to take away your AR-15? Might want to take a peek in the Rifle and Gun Hunting section, where I posted earlier today that I was interested in buying a Remington R-15 and was looking someone with first-hand knowledge.
  15. I agree, I do have the United States military looking out for me and every other citizen. You know, the soldiers your militia's are ready to kill if the government gets too oppressive and they need to rise up! My money is on the US Military. I will sleep tight, thank you.
  16. Sorry, after I subtract post-apocalyptic scenarios, I can't think of any time where we would need a militia. This is usually the point in the conversation where I realize there is no point continuing, and go to sleep with the security that there are a hell of a lot more people on my side of the "crazy" line than yours. Enjoy digging your bunkers and stocking up on ammo. This isn't the 1700s anymore, fellas.
  17. Stop focusing on one specific incident and look at the big picture. Again I ask, why make it easier than it already is? What do you really lose? So you reload a little more often at the shooting range. You already stated it only takes a few seconds.
  18. First, we aren't just talking about unarmed citizens. Not all of these nuts are kind enough to put a bullet through their own skull. Some need assistance in that area. Second, if you are unarmed and fleeing from an armed suspect, you wouldn't want that extra few seconds to run a little further, dart around that corner, lock that door, etc? Will it matter an enclosed classroom of little children, no, of course not. Could it matter in some situations, of course. Why make it any easier than it is already?
  19. So, as a trained soldier, it takes you at least 2 seconds to change magazines. Hypothetically, lets say your average untrained rampaging lunatic takes a least twice as long (I would hope that's a pretty safe guess?). Are you trying to say that 4+ seconds can't mean the difference between life and death in a combat situation? I think I could find many soldiers and LE officers that would disagree.
  20. Be very careful there, wheelieman, you're getting very close to sounding logical. I do have a question though, since we live in NY and there already is a 10 round cap on all magazines (post '94), why is there so much mention of 30 rounders?
  21. And while publishing this man's address and phone number is not illegal (what's good for the goose, etc etc), harassing him is. This is the link to the first thread on this topic:
