  1. Nice buck, nice mount. Congratulations.
  2. Great, another one of these. Please see the two other threads stating this to find out why it is a bad idea. And it is your first post...
  3. Could you purchase a lower, legally now, and then build a gun that would be considered illegal as long as you register it within a year? Bah, I'm going to have to hire an attorney to figure this out.
  4. I'm guessing they could check the date of the background check for purchase, unless you were to buy it as a private sale.
  5. Yeah, I knew about that, but I was actually hoping there was a legal way. I had finally settled in on a DPMS Prairie Panther as my predator gun, then they passed this law before I could buy one.
  6. http://news.msn.com/...police-officers I should have included this link in the original post. Basically, if the law were in effect today, every LEO would be committing multiple violations of it.
  7. If the new law does not go into effect until March 1, does that mean one still has until that time to purchase a currently legal weapon and have it grandfathered in? I asked this on another thread, but it is going to get buried and I would love if someone with knowledge of the subject could provide some insight. Thanks in advance.
  8. Question - If the law doesn't go into effect until March, does that meant one can still purchase a previously legal AR-15 model now, and have it be grandfathered in?
  9. So a news reporter got something wrong on the day after a national tragedy, as the story was still unfolding?? That's never happened before! It must be a coverup!
  10. That is a 100% BS excuse used to lay a foundation for defense against attacks for not voting for it from her opponents during her next election, while keeping her Republican voting base happy. It was not a long bill, and she has a staff. If she didn't have enough time to understand a straight forward bill like that with a small army of lawyers at her disposal, she should resign. In my opinion, covering your ass with an excuse like that rather than owning up to your vote is government at its worst.
  11. So wait, you're telling me if a bat or knife is used in a crime, but no one dies, its not counted as murder?? That's crazy! Wait....wha... He posted homicide-only statistics, because I stated even though bats were used in *more* actual crimes, I bet they had a lot fewer fatalities attached to them. I was right.
  12. I'd also like to see the fatality proportions of baseball bats vs firearms. I'm guessing a lot more assaults and a lot less homicides.
  13. I'm not going to argue. If anyone wants to judge for themselves, just Google "how much public land does Texas have" and draw your own conclusions.
  14. I gave the list a quick check, I was surprised to see (I believe) every LI Republican voted for the ban. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
  15. Lol, you're about to become less popular than even me around here.
  16. Same...I can't pick up the DPMS Panther I was settling in on now. Kind of bummed about it.
  17. Ok, I guess some people are stil not getting what I'm saying. It has nothing to do with posted private land. I'm talking about the hundreds of thousands of acres of (Fill in the blank) State Forests that we have all over the state. Texas is almost all private land, and don't fool yourself, (almost?) all of it is posted. As for the number one reason people are quitting hunting, can you site a source for that data, or did you just make it up? Serious question, I'd love to read the study if the DEC or a private entity did one.
  18. The point is, there will always be hundreds of thousands of acres of public land in New York State. That isn't true in Texas.
  19. You sure about that? EDIT: I can't fault you though, the "steers and queers" line is used in An Officer and a Gentleman also, but he is talking about Oklahoma.
  20. Haha...FMJ reference ftw One reason I'd never move to Texas (besides the weather) is there is almost no public land. Hunting down there is more like shooting fish in a barrel, a fenced barrel.
  21. Q: What about ammunition, more generally? A: For the first time, all ammunition must be purchased through a licensed dealer who performs a background check and records the sale through a new state-created database. This provision won’t take effect for a year, and at least one month after the head of the State Police certifies the database is operational. I'm not sure why you are saying the law does nothing concerning ammo. What happens when you fail the background check when you try to buy a firearm? Same will now happen with ammo.
  22. Yes, it must be registered, but it will be grandfathered in and legal to posses.
