  1. Lake Ontario United also know as LOU. It covers all of NY and then some. Just read the guidlines about posting certain info.
  2. So because your freezer was empty you were or are more than willing to take a bigger chance then you are when its full? Are you saying you have more respect for filling the freezer than the game animal you are pursuing? This statement just confuses and baffles the hell out of me. Your shot taking chance standards should be just as high full freezer or not.
  3. Exactly when did opinions become FACTS? Someone still needs to look up in the Webster dictionary what the word FACT actually means before they use it a dozen times in one post. Just saying!
  4. Before I get my head ripped off I remembered something today. There is a deer farm within a mile or two of where this piebald was shot. Talking with the locals today it was brought up that this farm had Fallow deer on it that had crossed the fence into the wild. If I recall it was 3 years ago now and never heard if they were recovered or not. These guys are thinking they cross bred but I have no knowledge if this is possible. I can tell you though there is more than one piebald still in the area. 2 more were seen this morning.
  5. Have you been back to see if he returned for the deer? I cant see someone going through all that and then just leave there stuff and never to return. Makes me think maybe he stumbled upon someone elses kill and was trying like heck to take the antlers and either got spooked, hurt or went back to the vehicle to get better equipment.
  6. We had this piebald buck traveling on several farms with a couple guys specifically targeting it. It ended up killed. I hunted one of the farms it was seen on but I was not specifically targeting it and to be honest I dont think I would of shot it if I had the opportunity, a creature of this rarity just seems fitting to me to let it walk for everyone in the area to enjoy seeing it. What do you guys and gals think? Not that it matters now but curious how many would pass it up and how many would shoot to kill.
  7. I can agree with this. When I wasin my early 20's I had to deal with a lady the locals all called "the crazy lady" she hated hunters. She would do all sorts of things. Her land bordered the farm land I hunted, she would take big speakers, run cord as far as she could to the edge of her property and play extremely loud opera music all day long, she would sit in her driveway blasting her car horn, and yes would let off fireworks in her back yard during gun season. The police would visits all the time from us hunters calling her in for harrasment and it just never stopped. She would come up with some sort of other tactic each and every time. Eventually it stopped, never found out if she moved, or the law finally shut her hunter harrasment down.
  8. Why the hell do you think I thought it was interesting? I found it interesting due to the point that its just common sense.
  9. Its topsella20's fault lol. Sorry Grow!
  10. LOL in all honesty the Ostrich story is actually true.
  11. No I was on a bowhunting trip for mountain lions. We had an Ostrich chase us down one day. Guide new about an escaped Ostrich that killed a ranch owners worker. Ripped him open from waist to neck when he was trying to load cattle on a truck. The ranchers would let Ostrich run wild with the cattle as supposedly it would keep mountain lions away. The rancher never was able to catch the ostrich and it was roaming free for quite some time. My guide tracked down the rancher and he learned that the fish and game department had been trying to track down and kill this Ostrich. Fish and Game issued us a permit to kill it if we came in contact with it again. So it went from a mountain lion hunt to an Ostrich hunt. The bow went in its case and the 30.06 came out. We went back to the same spot where we last seen it. Didnt take long to see a big black blob in the distance at the foothills in the desert. It also didnt take that Ostrich long to come charging at us in no time flat. It took 3 rounds in the chest to drop that thing. The ID tag on its ankle confirmed it was the Ostrich they were after. Nothing in my life ever felt so wrong after walking up to that thing laying there. We were asked to put it down by the game and fish department if we could. Meat was divided up amongst rancher, a food pantry, the guide and myself. It was very good, like eating steak.
  12. I found this interesting. Its also illegal to cut, remove trees or plants on private land as well without permission. Straight from DEC website.
  13. http://www.phonearena.com/phones/Kyocera-Brigadier_id8799
  14. Yep and if they are found after the season closes they will be taken by the state and auctioned off. At least that is what the local ECO has told me in the past.
  15. Before I get hung I will add that it was a free range and not a high fence hunt. LOL
  16. I cant agree with Ostrich, I actually went on an Ostrich hunt and killed the damn thing in Arizona a while back and the track looked nothing like that. Dont ask but I really did lmao.
  17. Apparently some of you havent gotten a speeding ticket in the past year! The fines are steep and with the new point system the state has implemented, it wont take very long if your caught before your license is gone. But on that note I thought we are talking hunting not driving, I see no relevance in the two topics myself. One makes some drivers look stupid the other makes hunters look stupid. Sort of like this whole thread and the question at hand. I got to be honest though the question was pretty damn funny, or maybe it was the thought that he was asking if he could afford to break the law or not. As far as the screw in steps hurting trees, well Id have to say after 3 generations of drilling holes in the same maple trees every spring I think the tree will be okay, and if it dies it was going to die regardless cause it was diseased in some way shape or form.
  18. It sure looks above the spine to me as well. But how can anyone make a judgement with those pictures if its even a wound at all? Could be, could be just a small patch of hair that was raked off in breeding, could be snow fell off a tree and landed there, could be many things.
  19. WOW another thread turned into a swollen head, look at me, your all stupid, do you know who I am thread. Quit polluting the sight with your crap spewing bs. I dont even have to call you out either cause you know who you are. Mr. Facts lmao
  20. Cleaning is pretty simple, paper plates etc. We sure do burn a fair amount of wood though. The important thing is to enjoy the time whether its campfire cooking or a coleman stove.
  21. Never been a problem yet in rain or clear skies for I dont know 15 years or more. Has nothing to do with being romantic lmao. Its just plain good fun, theres hot coals in the firepit the whole time, just slap some meat on the grate and done. What else you going to do after a days hunt, sit in the tent and play paddy cake? The whole experience is more than just a hunt, its good friends sharing the passion of hunting and spending some time around a campfire shooting the breeze. If it was less than that why wouldnt he just stay at his friends place 3/4's of a mile away, sleep in a bed, cook on a stove or order in pizza? Sounds like he is looking for more of an experience than just waking up and going hunting to me.
  22. Is it just me or is the title of this thread ironically perfectly suited.
  23. Got any corn fields around? Looks like corn silk to me.
