  1. Well the maple season has not even started here for me yet. I am usually started by valentines day and done at the very latest mid April. Still 3 feet of snow pack here. Hate to say it but I would be happy to see spring start in may this year.
  2. Last day of maple weekend for 2015. If your bored today take a look at the list on the link and go visit a sugarmaker today. http://www.nysmaple.com/maple-weekend-search?distancewithin=100000&zip=13302&se=1
  3. Some Nutritional info.
  4. Its also a healthy substitute for sugar.
  5. The vast majority of mine goes into 30 gallon stainless drums and gets sold to bulk buyers who repack and put in stores. I outright retail 50 or 60 gallons and the rest all goes in the drums.
  6. Damn it, does this mean I lost a customer now lol.
  7. Depends where you were at. Moser's Maple had 2000 gallons of sap they held for the weekend, Yardleys Maple had plenty as well. Some producers paid attention to the weather and held sap, other just didnt get any. I know most all of them are praying for a run tomorrow straight through till thursday night so they have sap to boil this maple weekend. I have been froze solid, 1250 taps on vac and I have pulled just under 1000 gallons. Yet another tough year to be a NY producer.
  8. Hey Wildcat that is Haskel and Jane Yanceys place you visited. Some old school equipment in that place. English tin pans all buckets etc.
  9. Its already here Grow. Although they are Indian Reservation run pot shops.
  10. I have hunted in the Kingman area before. Went Mountain Lion hunting there. The local farmers will gladly let you on there land to hunt them. There are whitetail there as well up in he mountains but man they are small. Elk hunting is pretty good there as well. And lots of coyotes. Have you visited there yet? If not your in for a huge surprise. Its a place that is set back in time a bit. Nice area nice people but its not everyday you go to a local Walmart in NY and see horses tied up out front and cowboys with pistols strapped on there sides walking around. The area is also very prone to flash flooding. Its very dry there and with the mountains surrounding the area all the rain washes down the mountains into the town. I remember it being sunny and within half an hour the town had a foot plus of water in the streets. Oh and sell your lawnmower, theres no grass to mow in Kingman just rock Lawns. Its way different than NY. When and if you pull up to a farmstead for hunting permission approach great caution as you will get greeted with a man holding a shotgun. Im not kidding either. I might suggest getting in with a guide at first to be introduced around to the farmers and such just till they get to know you and your vehicle. I had a lot of fun hunting out there. Kingman in its self is a pretty cool place, friendly people some good places to eat. You will love the gun shops too. You walk in and there are hundreds and hundreds of guns to look at.
  11. when people use the word Fact based on there opinion. This one is not a phrase but when people ... ..... .... ... ... ................ ................... ............ ..................... ......... ........ ..... LOL.......
  12. You guys and gals want a link to the most accurate weather reporter around the northeast? Well then check this guy out! https://www.facebook.com/HillbillyWeather
  13. Start plowing out the woods trails to the sap tank and releaser buildings. Got my work cut out for me and the loader with snow as deep as my shoulders are high in the woods. Gonna be a long day but its got to get done for the warmup coming. Hopefully I will get tanks set in vac pumps and releasers setup. Not hopeful though theres just so much snow pack to get through.
  14. The Florida deal cracks me up. I have many a family member move to Florida from being "sick and tired of the cold". Now what do they do, call and whine about how hot it is there. I just laugh and tell them you can take the whiner out of NY but you cant take the whiner out of the whiner. That is usually when they hang up on me.
  15. You people do realize its FEBRUARY dont you?
  16. I have been in the printing industry for 27 years now in one form or another. Mostly all as a service tech. Started my own printing service and sale business 15 years ago. Back around 2001 to 2005 things were booming. Printers were spending money like they were printing it themselves. Then it all crashed overnight. I have still managed to make a decent living off it but 2 years ago I started to make a change. Driving all over the Northeast, lots of Hotel rooms, customers always late on payment its just started wearing on me. I cut back 50% some of it by choice some of it not. Printers are dropping like flies hitting a bug light. Many many of them are gone since 2005. Many have been bought out and merged with others. I have seen so many people lose there job in this industry its heart wrenching. Equipment cost and expenses have gone way up and the demand has gone way down. There are a handful of specialty printers doing well but the vast majority are just getting by or losing money. 2 years ago I started a plan B and now Plan B is my plan A. I partnered up in a metal fab and welding business and so far I have orders out until march 2016. Sorry to hear First- LIght but let me tell you the first few months are stressful when I made this decision so I Imagine when it was made for you it could not have felt any better, but it is a huge relief and it felt like a ton of bricks lifted off my shoulders. It came as a relief one Saturday morning when this one contract that I was on call for 24/7 for first week of month regardless if it was a holiday or not. I woke up that Saturday that was the first of the month all in a bad mood, the wife says why are you so stressed your not on call any more. And just like that I felt a million times better, the stress is gone, the anxiety is gone, the financial worries are gone, I was my old self again when I enjoyed my work. Good luck it gets much better from here on out!
  17. And how is it acceptable for you to compare and mention the safe act in every CWD and Deer farm thread yet when they are brought up in a safe act thread your panties all bunch up? Makes no sense.
  18. Now thats funny. You have yet to show us anything to back up your so called facts that are just an opInion of your own thinking. You been called out a hundred times to show any kind of a reputable source behind you factpinions. Yet here we all sit still waiting for them. Sorry your not above the government.
  19. I agree with that statement and have to add the same goes for deer farms, if they wanted those too they will take them. There is a lot more financial loss for all aspects of the gun industry than there is behind a high fence. Thinking a more lucrative business that is being molested by our government is touchable and deer farms are not is just ridiculous.
  20. Its getting deep, hold on let me spread some before the thread gets filled up with it again. LOL
  21. Never mind not worth even one more second of my time on this thread.
  22. What I find more disturbing is California passed a law that allows ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS to get a drivers license.
  23. Its been 47 years since the first case of CWD was found. Take a look at the deer population in 1967 compared to 2014. We are not losing our wonderful whitetails by any means. Deer populations in the US have exploded since 1967. You will also notice that your complaint about states not throwing millions at CWD is again the opposite. Your last paste job even states this. " Despite the expenditure of countless millions of dollars fighting CWD across North America" I think you are to far invested in captive deer herd and biased about captive deer to see that CWD states DEC/DNR are not all about hunting you guys down and throwing you to the wolves. Like its been said many times if they wanted you gone you would be gone period.
  24. I find it almost impossible to find the right gift for xmas. I have given the spa resort weekend package deal, the electronics gizmos, massage deal, all sorts of crap. Last year I bought her a boat cause she loves to fish with her dad on Lake O and for sailfish in the Keys. Well that one worked out well in my favor cause she went on it 1 time this summer, fell asleep, said it was her most relaxing day she has had in a long time and then never went on it again lmao. This gal changes the things she likes more than anyone else I know. Today a new laptop would be awesome tomorrow it would be a waste of money. But I think I have come up with the best one yet. She loves her parents and loves getting to the Keys to see them every few years. This year I got round trip tickets for Xmas in the keys with her parents next year. Its the best I could come up with, or a new microwave oven thats broke lol.
