  1. Im a little late to this party but here you go VT Outfitter. "Here is a texas fart shot for you"
  2. No need to drop the scope to get yardage just open your other eye.
  3. I called 2 years ago and it was a hotline that was suppose to call you back, two years later IM still waiting on that phone call. However it turned out to be cow parsnip. Thankfully
  4. look up on the NYDEC website the streams and area you plan on fishing. There are detailed maps of the ones regulated with each section marked accordingly to the regulations on that water. If its not listed where your going you would follow regular fishing regulations also on the website.
  5. http://www.dec.ny.gov/regs/4021.html
  6. Your pal is correct, sort of, there are areas on streams and rivers that are posted as artificial lures only. I think it was more of a "reserved" type area for flyfisherman without saying flyfishing only and not to tick of the mono guys. Lots of these artificial lure only areas are also catch and release only areas.
  7. Funny how you could change the first name of this sentence and put a couple members names there and yet one post it and the other likes it.
  8. Learn from our past mistakes and fight for the future. The two naysayers who just throw gloom and whine about where were you when.......................... Honestly your point is what? You want to doom people who are standing up right now and persecute them for not standing up then? The past we can learn from the future is what can be changed NOW. Bitching and bantering about what someone did not do way back when sure doesnt help the fight now it only makes for negativity. Its however is ironic to read the same nonsense from the same guys who have ZERO influential insight on how to fight the current administration, meaning it makes one wonder if this is the same negative banter back when they claim the fight should of started and had zero influence back then as well. Please tell us oh great wise ones where your time machines are located and take us back to start the fight over, or is the past behind us and the future ahead of us and today is the day to stand up and be heard? The negative responses towards anyone speaking out helps no one but the opposition which seems to me is what you two are. Yet you guys belittle anyone and everyone, yet have not mentioned what you have done yourself other than whine. Show us what you got if you are so much wiser in comparrison to your fellow americans that you feel so freely like to mock for standing up to what they believe in now.
  9. Perch would be an excellent color for walleye especially in the early season. I like it.
  10. They are readily available in tackle shops. You just got to look for them or ask.
  11. Correct, I use 8 foot medium action trolling rods with a small line counter reel. Not having to run wire or lead core I dont need the larger arbor line counters. I have also been short rodded before and run them on spinning rods with no problems, but you have to go old school with counting out feet of line as it comes off the spool. See adkbucks post. Dont hear about too many people using them any longer but they produce walleye when other tatics have failed me. Blue and silver seems to be the biggest producing color for me with them.
  12. 23 walleye hit the net on Oneida this morning. Rough out there but fishing was hot. All came on Sonars and worm harness. There are may ways to skin a cat when it comes to technique and style of fishing.

    Big smallmouth

Best girlfriend of the year so far or smallmouth? LOL
  14. Old school farmers used electric chainsaws with vegtable oil for chain lubricant to do there butchering.
  15. Easiest by far and gets your stuff away from the boat and out of the prop wash is inline planers, they also keep boats out of your troll with the tell tale bright boards running along side the boat. Learn what depths your lures are running at, use pinch weights to get down deeper if need be. This is a simple and fast setup, my kids can even setup and run them while Im steering the boat. If you have ever fished the pro side or amatuer side of walleye tournaments you will find that lead core, dipsy and wire is used just about never anymore. You dont need the 30 lb line, the big stiff poles to run dipsy that take away from the fish fighting experience and large expensive reals that can hold the lead core or heavy mono. Inline planers is where its at, I will never ever use anything else unless running downriggers and they are second on my list.
  16. I personaly skip the dipsy and running wire and go with inline planer boards and use pinch weights to get to the depth Im after.
  17. When we were kids we would walk down the road to the river to go swimming. Every empty pack of cigarrets we would come across she would pick them up. I asked a bunch of times why she picked them up to look at them as she didnt smoke. Never got an answer till one day she picked one up and pulled out a 100 dollar bill from the foil liner. SHe held it up and said this is why I pick them up. She said her mom smokes and always stick money in them and a lighter for some odd reason.
  18. Hammers seem to be the biggest finds for me. I think I have picked up two of them over the years just getting my mail. Sunday at the boat launch there were 20 dollar bills on the dock and floating in the water when we launched. I didnt know anything about it till after I parked the truck and the boy was sooping them up with the net. Didnt see who launched or loaded up before us either. Asked a guy who was securing his boat and he said he didnt lose any money. Couldnt even get my boy to give up 1 of the 20's for gas for the boat either LOL. One time when pumping gas I found a credit card on top of the pump and a purse on the ground. I didnt want to take it inside in case of a less than honest employee and it felt uncomfortale looking in the purse but there was a cell phone in it. Looked at the last phone call made and called the number on my cell. It ended up being the owners sister. I told her I would wait with the purse for her to come get it. She showed up with her sister who owned the purse and seemed displeased that I looked in it to find her phone and make the call. Never even got a thanks.
  19. OH my this is too funny! I still only use the small black stonefly on a heavy #10 hook. 8# flouro leader. Cant tell you how many people eventually ask what the heck Im doing. I have given more of those black stone flys away over the years than I have ever used myself. Everyone throws all sorts of garbage at these fish and that little black fly looks natural to them teamed up with light flourocarbon leader is the magic ticket. Its funny I will land a fish and just about everytime someone moves to where I was standing, so I move down and catch one where they were just fishing. Which I feel is a huge benefit to me. I will sneak up and down the whole as much as I can. Earlier in the season when the fisherman are just about nonexistant I will move a couple feet up or down with every cast. I live right there my whole life and learned more about fishing that river by getting at a high point where I could watch the fish and there reactions to fishermans presentations. You can literly watch over and over fish move right out of the way of fishermans presentations and soon as the hook and line passes them they move right back to the same exact spot. With 8lb leader you dont land them all but the key with light tackle is the flyrod and reel with the smoothest drag system you can afford. The rod takes the blunt of the stress and the smooth drag keeps things flowing with less sudden line shock. Its actually not black pipe cleaners. Its a material with a lower profile and denser fiber but I suppose the black pipe cleaners would work as well. Anyhow my best advice for the OP is head down to Pineville Tackle and you can get some good equipment for cheap that will last you a long time. They have combo setups from flyrods to center pin combos. As far as waders go dependant on time of year and water temps to fish the salmon comfortably you need 2 sets of waders. A breathable set and a BOOT FOOT neoprene set. This is the one purchase I recomend not skimping on at all. You can have the nicest rod, reel and and 10 tons of tackle and if your not comfortable, cold or sweating your gonna hate life. The neoprenes for cold water fishing but a boot foot, your feet will thank you. I have several pairs of waders and my first purchase of neoprene was a stock foot set. My feet froze, think about it you slip a boot over a waterproof neoprene sock and then get the boot totally wet, now step out of the water in cold weather and your boot freezes and your feet are now cold. Rubber boot foot and heavy wader socks are must if fishing the late season or steelhead. If you are fishing early on many just wear shorts and no waders at all. Screw Walmart help the small local businesses. You will get a lot more advice out of a local shop if your purchasing equipment from them as well.
  20. Havent owned a Dodge yet that didnt hit 300k miles or damn close to it before I replace them. Only compliant I have about them is the fenders above the wheel wells seem to rust faster than any other vehicle. Never owned a Ford and never will own a Chevy again. I do a lot of towing also from a boat to a trailer hauling big hemlock logs and lumber. Have had the 5.9 and the Hemi's and no tranny or motor problems with any of them.
  21. Boiling water is a good test but remember that when you get some sweet in the pans it will boil a whole lot different. For the better that is.
  22. These quotes always baffle the heck out of me. IF your tired of it dont read it, and Paula you did click on it to reply LMFAO
  23. Understand but where would this deer stack up against other HF deer as far a caliber of deer. Would a Deer Farmer spend the money to obtain this deer or would he pursue a much more radical set of antlers? The other thing if Im not mistaken which I very well could be, doenst the doe have a very big play in what class of buck it will produce? And what the heck do you guys do with the doe fawns? There are farmers around here that put the bull calves down when born I have often wondered if the same happens to the doe fawn on Deer farms.
  24. Theres only one way the world is going to find out and thats if this buck is put on the ground. If its HF the internet is going to explode lol. As far as caliber of deer goes on Deer Farms where does this one stack up anyhow? Curious mostly because its seems rather on the small side of some of the pictures of HF deer and why? I would bet it hits non typical status this year which would put it on what caliber of HF deer status?
