Exactly how do you say no when the consumer keeps voting the ones in who push the companies out and they have little choice but to go over seas?..... Cant very well start saying no.... when the consumer says yes..... and votes them back in.... now can we?.....You ever take a look or try to ship anything in large proportions over seas?..... Or look at the import export taxes?............... domestic labor rates?....... foriegn labour rates?.........Ask why its more profitable or rather sustainable to do business outside the US?...........Waiting for the government is a joke...........its us who put those in government that make these issues and rids us of american made product let alone ones that are affordable......... First step in saying NO......VOTE THEM OUT!!!!!! -
I blame the others who didnt try to vote them out! I sure tried!

Nope you dont stand alone on that statement. Just another lazy way to do things, and yet the country complains about obesity. Sad if you ask me. The only thing that this is nice for in my opinion is for helping the handicap get in the woods and hunt out of a tree, but yet I cant see how they could even use this. Nice promotion of safety as well. NOT. I will keep my 800 hard earned dollars thank you.

NOAA report said last I looked at it another mild one. Just watched weather report and calling for another week of above norm temps coming up. I really would love to have a normal or what use to be a normal winter, be nice to ice fish without fear of thin ice again. Be nice to get the sleds out for the first time in since winter of 2010/2011 too.

Sure been a tough one for me. I have seen so few bucks this year its pathetic. Had one good encounter with a great buck during bow but Im not unethical shots so he had to walk. Rest were little spikes. I also got permission to hunt an area that has not been hunted in 10 years. Sign in there is unreal. I encountered 1 deer in 6 bow hunts there. All my trail cameras, yep everyone of them photos are all night pictures taken except those little guys. I dont overpressure an area either an switch up places I hunt regularly and always had great success doing this. Have some doe in the freezer but it sure hasnt been what I would call a good season here. But thats fine because if they all were good it just wouldnt be as exciting.

I am willing to wager I been checked as many times as there are replys to this thread already. I live on the SR and while fishing its a weekly thing you get used too. Back in the day when I tournament fished the walley trail I got checked on the boat alot. Been checked in the adirondacks multiple times hunting, happy valley a few times, camp twice, alot of flyfishing adventures. Not one single ticket either Im proud to say. I think the funniest thing I ever seen happen when two officers on the SR where checking license, these 2 clowns next to me were up next. One guy looks at the other and tells his buddy to take of running to the truck. So the dude takes off running, officers chase after him. The guy left standing there is laughing his head off and proceeds to tell me his buddy has a license and he doesnt and walked away in the opposite direction. lol you run into all sorts of clowns on the river.

Oh man ice fishing would be great right about now!

Not for long mid 50's coming up. I yearn for a normal winter, this warm cold warm cold sure beats up a guys health.

Speaking of Salmon Run lol how about this scenario for you guys. Public easement that was put on your land so fisherman can fish and land owners can just pay the taxes and nothing else. There was no say it just happened, supposedly as I recall it was a 33 foot easement but that sure isnt the case. Own to the center of the river and state put an easement along the river banks about 100 foot on our land. We cant do anything on it but access the river to fish and pay the land taxes. Cant cut wood, drive on it, tap a darn tree, nothing but let people have a direct access to the water and with that brings direct access to your land for them. I have kicked so many trappers and hunters off that walk the easement to enter our woods. They throw there trash, spent fishing line and junk all along it. I drove my 4 wheeler across the line one day and low and behold DEC stopped and said I cant do that even though I own it. Got to love it. NOT. They also told me I cant post along that line unless I get specific posted signs from them. Crazy being told what you cannot do on land you own. Would love to sell that easement but what sucker would buy something they dont truly own but pay for anyways. LMAO

This unfortunately is starting to become the norm by sounds of things. Been dealing with same crap for a long time. No more warnings from me. You catch the guys give them an earfull and say next time the cops are involved. They disappear and the next group of yahoos show up, get rid of them and a few years later the originals showed back up. Nice guy days been over and seems the local yahoos are starting to get the hint. First year here at home I havent had to deal with this. BUT season isnt over yet. Now that I think about it, its the first thanksgiving where I wasnt chasing deer drive guys around in the woods and ruining my darn dinner lol.

Its some of the heaviest damn snow too. Loader was even grunting away on this storm.

When the safety of your kids and family is invovled there is no second chance in my book. Call it in before someone gets hurt.

Time to change things up I would say. Seems the deer have you guys patterned instead of you patterning them. If your following the same ritual going to the same spots, at the same time, leaving at the same time they got you all figured out. Try going out just before your normal time of coming in. Confuse them, throw something different at them. Heck I wouldnt be afraid to have someone come with you and walk out at your regular scheduled leaving time while you stay put. Deer hears, sees, smell someone leaving they think they are in the clear while you wait in ambush.

Well I can officially say I know have more snow on the ground at one time than I did all last year. Never even plowed once last winter. Ma nature put about 16 inches on us yesterday and overnight. Why exactly do I live in a snowbelt anyways???????? Should be interesting hunting in this stuff and getting around to stands.

Well it could be worse. A buck I been after during bow for 2 years now got hit by a car next to my house a couple weeks ago. Talk about a bummer.

I stay on ground in high winds. To an untrained eye and even a trained one you never know if the tree your in ins rotting from the inside out and the outside perimeter of the tree is still healthy that carries the water to the limbs making an unhealthy tree internally look healthy. Also setting up in pines, popple and other softwoods in high winds is not a good idea either. No deer hunt is worth your life why chance it.

With the below freezing temps and how long it took to get up to 50 and how fast the days cool back off, it being inside and out of the direct sun. I think you are fine. I do have to ask though why do some claim to skin them right away in armer temps. When in the past I have seen these freezing nights and above 40 days I leave hide right on it helps hold the cold right in the meat. Think about it the hide holds the heat in the deer creates to stay warm right? So if its cold its going to hold the cold in as well.

Rattling has proved to be very succesful for me. At first my style was rattle like hell, you know like on tv lmao. Yeah I was young then. I watched alot of videos of bucks fighting and learned a few things. They seem to make alot of ground noise with the pushing each other around, they really dont make a whole lot of banging noises, and they dont last nearly as long as the ones on tv either. One day it really came together when I witnessed a buck while in stand following another buk snort wheezing like crazy at the other one, after about 6 snort wheezes the other manned up and they locked horns. There was not one point that they grunted at each other either. So I start with a few snort wheezes, make more noise rustling leaves and brush while rattling a bit. I dont use big antlers to do it either. In fact its a small 5 point rack which helps me from getting over aggressive. I have had success with rattle bags too, but I take them apart and keep like one of each shape and toss the rest out. Most often the bucks and even does approach downwind, I put a buck urine out, and am scent free as I possibly can be. I probably rattle 6 times on average a year and would guess an average over the years have been 2 bucks respond and always a doe or 2 as well. I am a strong believer that once you educate a deer or anyone else has for that matter they are forever wise to that sounds that spooked them. If a buck winds me in a particular area that came into rattling the gigs up and I dont bother in that area again unless I know there is a better buck in the area and the one spooked I would not take anways. I would say 50% of the bucks I have harvested in the past say 10 years I have taken after a rattling sequence. It works and works well unless you educated the deer and are trying the same thing again on him. I even go to the extent on not using the same deer call if I get busted after using one. I had a good reminder of this lately, you might remember me whining about the damn bleat can lol. The ones everyone uses now days. Got to be different just like steelhead fishin on the river. 20 people using eggs sacks sure will shut down a fishing hole for them while Im still catching fish on custom made flies.

Great story and a great way to share your dads first buck. Awesome job to the both of you!

DONT sell out yet, you might get the itch after missing a season or two and it will cost you more money to get back into it than you can make selling what you already have. I have these feeling all through gun season past few years. I love bow hunting but the gun season just not the same for me anymore, too frustrating listening to all the anitcs that go on around here. I find myself gun hunting less and less every season. About at the point I find it more enjoyable putting in food plots, working the trail cams, bow hunting in peace an quiet.

I counted 137 shots by 8 am. Lost count after that. I still will never understand ho one can unload on a deer. There is just no damn good reason for doing so. NONE -

Im surrounded by state land on 3 sides with easy acces for hunters, just pull over park unload walk 50 yards and your on top of a hill looking down a ravine. I remember the very first gun season hunting there. Was in the woods before light setup off on state land as I got the short straw as too may invites got dealt out on our piece lol. I remember when the sun peaked over that hill and all I could see was balze orange about every 50 yards. I got the hell out of there right quick. LMAO Never heard so many gun shots in my life and quite counting after several hundred. Dont think there was a tree standing that didnt have lead in it by mornings end. Went right back to camp and hid in the wood stove in fear of my life.
