  1. Why is it that when someone posts something, somebody has to say something asinine? FYI genius, I have a disabled son, which costs me a lot of money. Not that it's any of your business. If you don't have something half way positive to say, then shut the hell up.
  2. Boy, am I steamed. Had called the landowner before the season, to make sure that I could still hunt the property. I was told it was no problem. Just the other day, I called to see if I could hunt the property this week. Apparently, I was thrown to the wolves, as the landowner decided to let someone else hunt it instead. I had been hunting there for years, and was reassured just last year, that I would always have the right to hunt there. Now, in all fairness-it is his property. What I'm steamed about, is someone who gave their word on something, and obviously lied. I can't stand liars. Now, I'm stuck with a damned 3G doe permit, which took me years to get, and, quite frankly, I really couldn't afford to purchase. Nonetheless, I did buy it anyway, and now I regret it!
  3. Now, in all honesty, I really couldn't know what happened, but someone once said that the DEC reads the forum, so the wording might want to be changed. Otherwise, congrats to everyone!
  4. I couldn't care less how they're hung, but one thing did grab my attention on that post. "Right on que, as it started getting dark", is the one that grabbed my attention. We all know the sun sets well before it starts getting dark........

    smoking

I've never had a problem seeing deer while smoking. After all, the deer around here are used to chimney smoke, and even charcoal grills. Hell, just last week I had the grill going in front of the house. Went to check on the laundry behind the house-had two does just feeding there. I use a charcoal grill, so the smoke was pouring out. Didn't phase them at all.
  6. I live right up the road from the CIA-pretty much-up on Creek Road. Not far at all.
  7. I used to use a broadhead called Gold Tip Centurions, and they were devastating on deer. I could not break them. I had one go through a doe, and into a log, and it was still intact. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find them anymore. Sucks!
  8. eRussel-how much adjusting did you have to do on these broadheads (in comparison to field point). Were they that far off, as compared to the field point?
  9. Thanks to you, and Elmo! Hope you guys can come up soon to do some hunting!
  10. Wow! I would actually love to move out of New York! Having said that, you might try Lafayetteville MUA, or Depot Hill MUA. Forget about Taconic/Hereford-it's wall to wall hunters. I went there once, late in the season-never again! Stewart State Land is also a good option.
  11. I agree. I've found bucks in the woods with just the antlers taken. Hell, I knew a guy who shot the big bucks strictly for the antlers (self proclaimed "trophy" hunter). There is no excuse for this kind of crap!
  12. I'm willing to trade for a GWS Sniper Sight (the 20 something dollar one), an archery rest (Quiktune 360?), and a little bit of cash.
  13. Need to sell bad, to pay portion of rent. Asking $130, as it's not old at all, and has about 35 shots through it. Turkish Walnut stock, excellent power. PM me, if you're local, and interested. This is a pic of what it looks like.
  14. Thanks. I'm trying!
  15. Actually, weren't those jetmecs words? I actually had more aggravation with jetmec, than Peterbfly.
  16. Elmo, Leetown Road DEP property would be an excellent choice for that. BIG, wide open fields.
  17. There MAY be 3G's left. I, and a guy behind me, both got 3G's on Monday-the last day of the doe permits. Have to wait and see.
  18. The original insurance company screwed up. The insurance we have now, was started on Sept. 11, so there was no way in hell that it could not have been valid. That was started immediately upon finding out (finally), that there was an insurance "lapse" claimed. FYI, the previous insurance company sent verification to the DMV yesterday, proving, that, in fact, we were covered until. Aug. 4, instead of July 24, when they claimed it lapsed. One of their employees screwed up big time. If the insurance cards serve no purpose (or don't prove that you have insurance), then why does the state require you to have them? There was also an 800 number on the back of the cards, which he could just as easily have called, since they're there 24 hours a day. I do agree that the insurance company we had was screwed up. However, it was NOT a "fly by night" insurance company, but a very well known national company.
  19. To me, this is not about the officer. My only pet peeve about the officer, is that I presented proof of insurance, and he still gave me a ticket for uninsured vehicle. On another note, however, these cops consistently run red lights, talk on cell phones while driving, speed, and quite frankly, I know guys on the force that had prior felony convictions like assault. That's not to say all cops are bad, but there are certainly a few bad apples on the forces around here!
  20. Yes. We have the proof.
  21. I appreciate the support on this, guys. If I had screwed it up, I would just suck up the punishment. I didn't, however, and it's driving me and my wife nuts. What are the odds the insurance company is going to bail my car out? Probably nil, and none, without me having to give them a fight.
  22. Thanks, CulverCreek. I'm not sue happy, but this really screwed up our lives.
  23. I agree. Now for the next battle!
