  1. Just found out have to go to a wake in Staten Island at 2. Hopefully I will be back home on the couch for kickoff at 6:30.
  2. GO GIANTS!! Can't wait. Going to be slow cooking some rooster in crock pot for dinner. Have the nachos and beer ready. Going to watch the game with my son tonite.
  3. I downloaded the free sample of Team of Rivals to my Nook and started reading it. I could not put it down. Really well written. I finished 161 pages of the sample in less than an hour. I ended up buying the book. Read another 50 pages. Just 1000 more to go!
  4. I found a simple marinade online. Worcester sauce, red wine vinegar, soy sauce, salt, pepper, and rosemary. Was supposed to eat them Thursday nite but my mom in law made us eggplant parm and venison stew. So we ate that instead. But after marinading for two days the chops melted in my mouth last nite.
  5. After 2 days of swimming in a marinade bath, we finally ate the venison chops for dinner last nite with a side dish of creamed spinach and corn. They were "Um um good!!"
  6. Dumbarse whoever wrote the ad!
  7. I have a small handheld video camera which I bring with me to film different angles like my expression when I hit or most likely miss the shot -LOL! The iPhone cam will be used to film the shot and the other I set up on a monopod if in a blind or a clamp pod I built to attach to my gun rail on my tree stand. Takes couple of minutes to set up.
  8. Venison chops marinating for dinner tonite on the grill. They're gonna be finger licking good!
  9. For the turkey that is. Check this out . . . http://www.bowhunting.com/blog/post/wild-turkey-flies-through-windshield-of-truck.aspx
  10. Have not had a chance to test it out yet. I need to repaint the case. The black paint didn't take well. I think I may have to prime it first and then repaint it. I will be testing it out this weekend. I hope the phone doesn't go flying. That would not be good!
  11. I've been researching for months on getting a new HD video camera to film my hunts. Lo and behold I finally realized I have an Iphone which shoots HD video. So I decided to look for a mount. I've come across several different mounts all of which were minimum $30. After looking at several different styles, I decided I would try to build one myself. Materials: 1 cheap Iphone hardcase (must be a hardcase) - $10 at target 1 3" bracket with holes. - .69 cents 2 6/32 flat head screws, washers & nuts - $1 Flat black spray paint - had sitting around Felt - $1.50 at target Drill and different size bits - had sitting around Dremel rotary tool and grinding head First place the 3" bracket in a vise. Using a 5/16 drill bill enlarge the bottom hole of the bracket to 5/16. This is to accommodate the size of the screw of the stabilizer. After drilling the hole while still in the vise, round off the edges of the bracket. Place the Iphone case on a flat surface. Place the bracket with the smaller holes at the top. Make sure to measure the total height from the top of your stabilizer to the bottom of your arrow shelf to make sure that the phone will not block your arrow's path. Place the bracket on the back of the case and mark where the holes through the bracket. Using a 6/32 drill bit drill the holes in the case. Stick two 6/32" flat head screws through the inside of the case and attach the bracket using the washers and nuts. Do not over tighten to avoid cracking the case. Using a small piece of felt cover the heads of the screws on the inside of the bracket to avoid scratching the back of your Iphone. Using flat black paint, spray paint the entire case and bracket and let dry overnight. I use the 8" NAP Appache stabilizer which comes with a 2" carbon extension bar that attaches to the bow and then the stabilizer screws into that bar. Place the bracket onto the screw of the stabilizer and screw it into the extension bar. Secure the bracket so that it is upright and level. Snap in your Iphone and voila, there you have it! Here are a video and some photos http://s1099.photobucket.com/albums/g382/jmasiakos/?action=view&current=cd832d36.mp4
  12. Stuffed peppers with rice and ground venison sitting in a bath of fresh tomato sauce. Yummy!!!!
  13. Read all Clive Cussler's books with Dirk Pitt. Don't like the others. Also read first six novels by Daniel Silva - Gabriel Allon series. Really good if you like espionage etc. Five more to go in that series. Now I'm reading With God on a Deer Hunt by Steve Chapman. Really good short stories about God and nature.
  14. Welcome Sarg! Long Islander here as well.
  15. Nice!!! Only 89 long days to go. . . Here are some from the fall . . .
  16. Grow, where are the pics??? Did the birds fly the coop?
  17. I learned to cook from my mother in law believe it or not. I learned how to make fresh tomato sauce (or as the non-Italians call it - gravy). It all starts with picking bushels of tomatos, blanching them, peeling them and canning them. Also learned how to make lasagna, eggplant parm, and chicken parm. But nothing beats a nice 2" thick venison steak or even porterhouse on the BBQ. The BBQ is my domain - year round. When we get heavy snow I would first clear a path from the back door to the grill. I also like to slow cook venison, pork and brisket. OK - now I'm getting hungry. Is it lunch time yet??? The wife is a great cook, who learned from her mother. But most of the time nowadays when I don't have to meet clients or run to court I do most of my computer/paperwork at home. So I'm the one who usually gets things ready for dinner. Often the wife will prepare dinners the night before and I would stick it in the oven and watch over it until she gets home from work. We make a great team together.
  18. I wish they had these solar panel battery packs for Bushnell Trophy cam. But then again I used AA lithium batteries and they lasted for the season and still have about 1/2 power left.
  19. Im not sure if this was posted before but just got it in an email from a friend: BY A 15 yr. OLD SCHOOL KID who got an A+ for this entry Since the Pledge of Allegiance And The Lord's Prayer Are not allowed in most Public schools anymore Because the word 'God' is mentioned..... A kid in Arizona wrote the attached NEW School prayer: "New Pledge of Allegiance" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Now I sit me down in school Where praying is against the rule For this great nation under God Finds mention of Him very odd. If scripture now the class recites, It violates the Bill of Rights. And anytime my head I bow Becomes a Federal matter now. Our hair can be purple, orange or green, That's no offense; it's a freedom scene.. The law is specific, the law is precise. Prayers spoken aloud are a serious vice. For praying in a public hall Might offend someone with no faith at all.. In silence alone we must meditate, God's name is prohibited by the state. We're allowed to cuss and dress like freaks, And pierce our noses, tongues and cheeks... They've outlawed guns, but FIRST the Bible. To quote the Good Book makes me liable. We can elect a pregnant Senior Queen, And the 'unwed daddy,' our Senior King. It's 'inappropriate' to teach right from wrong, We're taught that such 'judgments' do not belong.. We can get our condoms and birth controls, Study witchcraft, vampires and totem poles.. But the Ten Commandments are not allowed, No word of God must reach this crowd. It's scary here I must confess, When chaos reigns the school's a mess. So, Lord, this silent plea I make: Should I be shot; My soul please take! Amen!
  20. Interesting article - a senator from Georgia is proposing a law allowing hunters to use silencers or suppressors when hunting. On the one hand I'm all for saving my hearing but on the other hand not being able to hear a shot from a hunter who may be 100 - 150 yards away from you in the woods could lead to a whole new ballgame. Read on . . . http://www.gainesvil.../article/62574/
