I just read this article on Daily News. NY State senate is attempting to revive a law that was shot done years ago by the republicans requiring manufacturers to microstamp bullet casings so police can track down illegal guns. I'm all for it. Any thoughts? http://www.nydailynews.com/new-york/york-state-senate-democrats-a-shot-law-cracking-illegal-hand-guns-article-1.1020915

True . . . Posting it on the internet may have been going a little too far. Maybe he could have handled it a bit differently. I know what if he did what he did privately and left the laptop in his daughter's room where she can find it and tell her a little white lie that he was fixing it when suddenly the laptop jumped up and attacked him and he had no choice but to defend himself?? Justifiable Homicide of a laptop perhaps?? -

Steve 863 & Grow, If he had done this with his daughter standing around or making her video tape him shooting the laptop then I would agree that it could be looked upon as abuse and CPS should be knocking on their door. But I don't see any difference here than someone shooting a firearm at a "target" like we all do when we sight in our rifles/shotguns etc pre-season be it at a shooting range or on someone's own property (provided of course that you are in compliance with all regs on discharging a firearm), and posting it on youtube or some other social networking site. The laptop was the "target". His daughter was NOT the target nor was there a picture of her on the laptop as a target. Would I do what he did?? Of course not! But all he was doing was making a point to his bitc*y daughter and try to teach her some sense of respect. Sometimes it takes drastic measures like these to get a point across. I remember the days when I was young and all my father had to do was give me a look. My brother and I were never beat, hit or threatened. All it took was his look that commanded respect. When I got the look, I knew right there that I better high tail it to my room. It is no longer easy to get the respect we as parents deserve with today's kids because of what society and the media has burned in their heads. Parents are afraid of disciplining their kids for fear of prosecution. Then there are those parents who don't even give a rats a$$ about what their kids do with their lives. -

Oh man did I love that video. But I would have used one buckshot shell out of my 12ga instead. He would have saved 9 dollars on the rounds. Lol! -

I actually bought the Binos they had a few years ago for $9.99. They lasted all about 2 weeks before one of the eyepieces broke. I guess it didn't help that my son was running with them, fell and knocked it to the ground - LOL! Oh well . . . If you want a good set of binos, I bought the Bushnell Trophy XLT Bone Collector version at Dicks at the end of the 2009-2010 season for $120 on sale from $160 and I had a $10 coupon. I swear by them. http://www.dickssportinggoods.com/product/index.jsp?productId=4286049&cp=4406646.4413993.4414966

I know the owner of a major optics manufacturer based on Long Island and I asked him about the binos with built in rangefinders. He said the technology is cost prohibitive and not really there yet to combined the two and and sell to the general consumer. Whatever is out there does cost a lot of money to manufacture. Most manufacturers who make the binos with the built in range finders do so for the military and private security contractors. He said you are better off getting a good set of binos and a decent rangefinder for a fraction of what it would cost to buy the combo. But of course if you have the money to spend by all means . . . .

Saw this one at Walmart the other day for $60. Was thinking of buying it but didn't know much about its reliability. http://www.walmart.com/ip/Simmons-Blazer-20-60X60-Spotting-Scope/19417508

Just read this on Yahoo News. Middletown NY Courthouse- some Yahoo decides to enter with a shot gun and shoots at "armed" Court Officers. How dumb is that??? http://news.yahoo.co...-160419517.html Update:: NY Post reports the guy died by a gunshot wound from C.O. Two other CO's were taken to hospital for shock. Guess they never experienced a shooting before.

Well I'm a lawyer and here is the link to the NYC Administrative code that governs high capacity mags for rifles and shotguns. http://24.97.137.100...10C3_10-306.asp Doc you are correct. Any long gun or shot gun that holds more than five rounds is illegal in NYC unless you are a dealer or fall within one of the exceptions. -
something i just came across while trolling the internet
Deerthug replied to Red's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
The law in NYS restricts possession of loaded firearm, handgun or long gun OUTSIDE the home. There is no restriction on possession of loaded firearm inside the home. Of course if police are called on a domestic dispute and they discover the firearm or you voluntarily disclose it, the police are required to confiscate the firearm pending the investigation.
