Thanks everyone!!! They absolutely give scholarships! She has been doing this since 7th grade and was the only 8th grader on the Varsity team last year. She now only in 9th grade but has her sights set on Penn State (Top Fencing School in the Country) She went there last year for fencing camp in the summer for a week. They bring in Olympic coaches from Germany and Austria to teach these kids how to perfect their moves. Five days of non-stop fencing. Planning on going again this summer.

This is completely off topic but last night I was so proud of my daughter for winning The Silver medal in the Nassau County Underclassmen Foil Fencing Championships. She is a foil fencer for the Oyster Bay HS girls varsity team. Can you say scholarship???

After being married for 20 years, we don't bother with commercialized made up holidays like Valentines Day anymore. Nevertheless, this year is different. Our Valentines gift to each other was paying off our home mortgage yesterday which is I think better than candy and flowers any day of the year.

I was in Walmart today and I broke down and picked up this spotting scope. http://www.walmart.com/ip/Simmons-Blazer-20-60X60-Spotting-Scope/19417508 It cost $65 including tax. I was skeptical at first not only because of the low cost but also because the box looked like it was previously opened. I decided to buy it and test it out. I kept the receipt and made the decision that if I did not like it I would return it being that Walmart is down the road from my office. Well I brought it home and opened up the box. I took out the scope along with the tripod. My first thought when looking at the tripod was that it was very flimsy. But I knew I had sturdier tripods that I can use it its place. I attached another sturdier tripod I had laying around at home. Set up the scope and lo and behold I was quite impressed with its ability to zoom in, focus and most of all its steadiness on my own tripod. It was actually very good for the price. I'm going up to the cabin this coming week and I'm going to try it out there hoping to see some Gobblers walking about. I will update my review then . . .

Just read this post on FB: Why females should avoid a girls night out after they are married.... (To be politically correct, you may substitute "males" for females and "wife" for husband) The other night I was invited out for a night with the 'girls.' I told my husband that I would be home by midnight, 'I promise!' Well, the hours passed and the margaritas went down way too easily. Around 3 a.m., a bit loaded, I headed for home. ... Just as I got in the door, the cuckoo clock in the hallway started up and cuckooed 3 times. Quickly, realizing my husband would probably wake up, I cuckooed another 9 times. I was really proud of myself for coming up with such a quick-witted solution in order to escape a possible conflict with him. (Even when totally smashed.... 3 cuckoos plus 9 cuckoos totals = 12 cuckoos MIDNIGHT!) The next morning my husband asked me what time I got in, I told him 'MIDNIGHT'... he didn't seem angry in the least. Whew, I got away with that one! Then he said 'We need a new cuckoo clock.' When I asked him why, he said, 'Well, last night our clock cuckooed three times, then said 'oh sh*t.' Cuckooed 4 more times, cleared its throat, cuckooed another three times, giggled, cuckooed twice more, and then tripped over the coffee table and farted''!!

I tried it on my AT&T phone & it said, "Dialing Emergency Number." Especially for a woman alone in a car, you should not pull over for an unmarked car. Apparently police have to respect your right to keep going on to a safe place. *Speaking to a service representative at Bell Mobility confirmed that 112 was a direct link to State trooper info.
