  1. I was surprised to see that the batteries checked out as "weak" rather than dead after being in use for 5 years . They were Enviro-Max super alkaline batteries . I don't remember where I bought them .
  2. This spring I will put a trail camera back in that location and see about repositioning my stand that I haven't used in years . The problem with that is by putting the stand so it faces the creek , it would almost be a straight downward shot .
  3. Old pics from forgotten camera - Three The horse in the pictures isn't supposed to be there . It was inquisitive and found the creek . The water from different farms runoffs might not be good for it to drink .
  4. Old pics from forgotten camera -one - The camera is on the west side of a small creek . The creek separates two pasture lots .
  5. I went to Geneseo this afternoon to help my SIL put 120 bales of hay in her barn . Then I set out to check my trail cameras . I took a route that I hadn't gone on in a long time . I saw a trail camera on a tree and I had the key to the cable lock and brought the camera home . I had to cut the lock on the door to get the SD card . Uploaded the 4465 pictures . They were from 12-30-2014 to 9-12-2016 . The card was full and couldn't take anymore pics . I had forgotten all about this camera and it is in excellent shape . Need to get batteries for it . Moultrie Model MCG 12622 Product Name D-338S
  6. Price ranges from $150 - $430 https://www.tactacam.com/shop/tactacam-5/
  7. I don't go clothes shopping with my wife and she doesn't go with me . I don't tell her when I am buying clothes or shoes . After 57 years of marriage , it works for the two of us .
  8. I had a ported 7-30 waters barrel on my Contender . I was over at the range shooting . I thought I would try something that might work when hunting in the woods . I placed my left hand on a tree trunk and placed the fore arm of my Contender across my wrist . When I fired , the ported barrel caused tree bark dust to blow in my eyes . It took 3 days for my eyes to clear up . I swapped the ported barrel out for a Hunter Barrel . No problem .
  9. I have the Thompson Contender in 44 mag , 7-30 waters , 223 and 22 . I don't like shooting the 44 mag . It kicks . I have shot deer with the 7-30 waters and woodchucks with the 223 . One of my sons had an Oncore in .308 and sold it . I don't think he care for it .
  10. This might be the one I saw on TV . I saw the Emeril Lagasse Air Fryer that works as a Air Fryer , Roaster , Toaster , Dehydrator and has a Rotating Rotisserie . The unit has removable racks . Right now , it goes for $200 . Looking for a deal .
  11. That's okay . You can post on this thread for the rest of the year .
  12. The woods on my SIL's property are usually flooded in the fall / winter . Dragging a deer would be bad news unless it could float . I was using a Toboggan sled but the sides weren't high enough for the water in the woods . My son's bought me a Shappell Jet Sled .........
  13. I never liked using a GutHook blade . Several years ago I bought a Gerber Metolius E_Z Open fixed blade knife. It's like using a zipper to open the deer up . No chance of cutting into the intestines . https://www.gerber-tools.com/Gerber-Metolius-E-Z-Open-30-000012.php
  14. I never cut the pelvic bone or cut very far into the breast plate . I wear the surgical gloves . I tried the arm length gloves and they tore so I stick with what works . I use the Butt Out Tool and carry some small zip ties . My sons do the same and that works well . I am very careful reaching in to cut the wind pipe as I cut a finger many years ago in freezing weather . I usually have 2 or 3 plastic bags to put the gloves in after the work is done . The deer doesn't get moved any further until it gets put on the sled . The bag with the gloves gets tossed in the open cavity so it doesn't get lost . Do whatever works for you . I usually drag a downed deer off to the side of a trail if that's where it dropped . The guts , etc are usually consumed by fox or yotes within a couple days .
  15. The "Challenge" might weed out some dummies from the Gene Pool !
  16. I am 78 and still get proofed when buying spray paint , lighters or a few other spray items .
  17. I have never found it to be a major inconvenience . They have to ask to cover their butts the same as asking proof of age when buying alcoholic beverages .
