Doc I would be glad to see that buck even if I didn't have my bow . Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

Get well Doc . Sorry about your situation . On the bright side ......... you have more time to moderate !
-
I have pics of that buck on 2 other cameras and always during Zero Dark Thirty !

I have had a TC in the same spot for about 4 years and got a lot of pics . This year was the exception . I saw a nearby scrape so I turned the camera 90 degrees last Friday and got these pics .

Drove to Geneseo . Was in my pod blind by 6:15 . Had a doe and 2 young ones show up around 7:30 . They milled around for about 15 minutes at 70 yards and headed into the thick stuff . Left the stand at 9:30 figuring it was equal to 10:30 last week's time . The Cock Pheasant flew past my blind and landed in the field . The Genesee Valley Hunt was supposed to chase fox at the "Bottoms" and figured they might drive some deer my way but they hunted North instead so I wasted a lot of time being in a stand and seeing nothing . My back was killing me from sitting in the ladder stand so long . Saw a red fox at 3:30 and at 4:30 there were to anterless deer in the adjacent field about 300 yards away . Those Bushnell Binos are great . Watched a hawk strafing the field and it almost seemed like it was trying to antagonize the deer . Kinda funny !

Do squirrels have a game plan or do they just go place to place at random? The little tree rats are everywhere. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk -

Too many cut trails for the fox hunters. Too many choices for the deer to take. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk -

Yeah , like we really needed to read that ! -
Stopped off at DICKs in Webster . Long line but I waited . The holdup was guys buying their licenses and getting the permits also . Anyone that already had a license was processed quick . Was able to get a 8H and a 8N anter less permit . Now all I need is to get a shot at some deer !
-
Heck , I am still waiting for the 1st shot this season !
-
Rob --- You are soooo lucky ! Good thing you checked things over before trying to drive any farther .
-
I was planning on hunting in either Mendon or South Bristol tomorrow with my youngest son but we cancelled out . Mendon is forecasted for rain a good part of the am . South Bristol is forecasted for rain in the early am ( 7 am ) and the wind will be from the south west which is bad for our stand locations . I guess i'll be back out Monday . Still waiting for my 1st shot of the Season .
-
Well , the good part is , it was a clean miss rather than a bad hit . Better luck on your next shot .
-
If your shot was high , I have 2 questions . * Were you shooting from a tree stand ? * If you were shooting from a tree stand , did you bend at the waist or did you stay upright and lower your bow arm ?

ThermaCell heated insoles
fasteddie replied to gfdeputy2's topic in Hunting Gear Reviews and Gear Discussions
Tightness was mentioned several times when using the heated insoles in boots . Don't most boots have removable insoles in them that can be taken out to make room for the heated insoles ? -

I have one of the older type Fiskars that has a knob that gets tightened . It doesn't tighten enough and is a pain in the neck to use . I stopped at Wal-Mart in Webster and checked out their Tree Pruners . They had the grey colored Fiskers on clearance for $16.25 so I bought one and tried it out . Not bad . I went back and bought 2 more for a couple of my sons . They weren't on clearance in Macedon or Geneseo . Two for the price of one . -
On second thought , those Hothands Insole foot warmers aren't so great or I did something foolish . Yesterday am I put on a pair of socks and then applied the adhesive foot warmers and put on another pair of socks and then my boots . My feet were fairly warm but towards the afternoon , it was irritating to walk and I should have taken the foot warmers off . My stubbornness said no and I left them in . It was 1/2 mile from my stand to the car and I walked it four times . My feet hurt and when I got home and took off the boots and socks , I checked out the warmers . The ingredients in the warmers had crystallized and it felt like the stuff was the size of rock salt or very small sharp pebbles . I have a couple more pair of theses but don't know if I want to try them . Maybe I will just go back to the "toe warmers" .

Sunset was at 6:07 and I got out of the stand at 5:55 . Had enough for one day . Spooked 2 deer picking up my scent wicks and spooked 2 more walking up the lane way . All in all , I saw 6 anterless deer today . Saw 4 more when driving down Lima Road .
