Free Treestand Safety Harnesses
fasteddie replied to WNYBuckHunter's topic in Hunting Items For Sale and Trade
The free ones are the ones that come with the stands . If you want a vest style , you better plan on buying it . I have a couple of the ones that came with stands . It costs about $7 to ship on . -

Early Bow Season - How long do you let your deer hang?
fasteddie replied to jrussell's topic in Bow Hunting
Some of the seasonal processors don't have fridges and don't properly take care of the meat . Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk -

I have never aged venison on purpose . Always processed it asap and no problems . I have a 10 cu ft fridge in the garage now and that should help things . -

That's fine if you have a walk in cooler. I wonder if cutting it up in large chunks and refrigerating does the same thing ??? Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk -

Foreign ? Were they from new York City ? -
So , what is the right age or should daddy decide ?
-
I think there should be SET age .limit and a 14 year old is more mature than a 12,11,10 year old . I read the responses in the original article and some folks thought 7 or 8 was a fine age for a youngster to hunt and the parent should be able to make the choice . I have also seen hunt videos with little BillyBob sitting on daddy's knee and the father is doing almost everything except pulling the trigger . To me , it's just a means to get more tags that can be filled out by a family .

Looks like another way for dad to get that extra buck . There are a lot of dumb people out in the woods and some of them shouldn't have kids let alone kids that hunt . There should be a set age limit . 12 should be the cutoff . 3 of my grandkids have lifetime licenses . One is going to be 10 in November and the twins are 7 . They have been taught safety but I know many who havn't because they have been schooled by a dumb parent .

Gut the deer , put in trailer and head for home . Hang the deer in the garage . Skin it , cut it up and put in totes in a Fridge . Then come the rest of the work to clean ( get rid of the silver skin ) , grind and package the meat . Too warm to leave it hanging . No more processors for me ! -
I have done a lot of this but it's always funny when someone else it . My wife was talking on her cell phone and shuffling things around on the counter and other places . We were going to leave the house in a couple minutes . I asked her what she was looking for and she said her phone . I asked her what the hell she was talking on and she got red faced .

Look on top of your head . Oh , wait , that's your glasses !

I should leave things alone . I am using 78 GB out of 905 GB . Plenty of room on my computer .
-
Well , at least they are in a safe place !

Woodchucks !

I still have a difficult time falling asleep the night before deer season opens . Any other time I can go to sleep in a couple minutes .

I have only seen a couple with faint spots in Mid October over the years . As of Aug 30 , 31 , they are still holding their spots pretty well .

Thanks for the input . When Windows was no longer supporting XP , I bought a new computer with Windows 8.1 . I like what I have here . I use Mozilla FireFox as I founf Internet Explorer too slow . Once in a while I use Chrome GOOGLE but never IE . I guess I will stick with what I have ( 8.1 ) . If it works , don't fix it !

Larry , did you have both eyes done ? I was told that if you had the LASIK for close up , it would mess up your distance . Is this true ?

I have had significant hearing loss . When I was in The Marine Corps we didn't have any hearing protection when shooting a rifle or the 81mm mortors . Worked several years in the Fabrication area of a large company . Part of it was in the the Punch Press area aka The Boob Boom Room . 800 ton presses pounding away . The operators had hearing protection but we in management didn't . When my mother in law passed away I inherited her hearing aids that she only wore a couple times because she didn't like them and had them set for my hearing . Amazing the sounds I pick up when wearing them . I don't wear them hunting as I am afraid of losing them . They originally cost around 5 grand . I sometimes smell the deer before I see them .
