I was driving to my hunting spot in Geneseo yesterday and heading East on Lima Road . I was about 1/2 mile from my spot and a deer was running toward the raod and I slowed way down . A vehicle behind me was closing fast and I had tapped my brakes twice . The driver pulled around me , was going fast and passed me on a solid line . Luckily the deer ran back in the direction it had come from or it would have been a Hood Ornament on someone's SUV . Folks haul ass on Lima Road . It has a couple of 45 mph zones but hardly anyone pays any attention to them . During the summertime there are a lot of joggers , bicyclists and people on horseback . It's a wonder more people havn't gotten killed on that road !

A farmer on Gibsonville Road between Perry and Leicester told my father in law and myself that shooters used to do that on his road years ago . That's the only place I ever saw a DEC officer while hunting . The farmer said jerks would even run down deer with an old pickup truck where they crossed the road to get back into the park .

I copied this and did not choose the size .......... If you consider it a sport to gather your food by drilling through 36 inches of ice and sitting there all day hoping that the food will swim by, you might live in Upstate New York. If you're proud that your region makes the national news 96 nights a year because Saranac Lake is the coldest spot in the nation, and Syracuse gets more snow than any other major city in the US , you might live in Upstate, NY. If your local ice cream stand is closed from October through May, you might live in Upstate New York . If you get 131 inches of snow in a week and you comment that 'winter's finally here', you might live near Oswego in Upstate New York. If you instinctively walk like a penguin for six months out of the year, you might live, bundled up, in Upstate New York. If someone in a Home Depot store offers you assistance, and they don't work there, you might live in Upstate NY. If your dad's suntan stops at a line curving around the middle of his forehead, you might live in Upstate New York. If you have worn shorts and a parka on the same day, you might live in Upstate New York. If you have had a lengthy phone conversation with someone who dialed a wrong number, you might live in Upstate New York. YOU KNOW YOU ARE A TRUE UPSTATE NEW YORKER WHEN: "Vacation" means going South past Syracuse for the weekend. You measure distance in hours. You know several people who have hit a deer more than once. You often switch from "heat" to "A/C" in the same day and back again. You can drive 65 mph through 2 feet of snow during a raging blizzard, without flinching. You carry jumper cables in your car and your girlfriend/wife knows how to use them. You design your kid's Halloween costume to fit over a snowsuit. Driving is better in the winter because the potholes are filled with snow. You know all 4 seasons: almost winter, winter, still winter, and road construction. You can identify a southern or eastern accent. Down South to you means Corning You go out for a fish fry every Friday . Your 4th of July picnic was moved indoors due to frost. You have more miles on your snow blower than your car. You find 10 degrees "a little chilly." and 55 is shorts weather. I swear I've never met this Foxworthy guy! You actually understand these jokes, and you forward them to all your Upstate New York friends and to those who used to live here and left. -- (chickens).

So how much did you pay for your Treestand Locator ? -
She could talk turkey to me any day !!! Yeeeeeehaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa !

It worked great . I did a video ---- Deer Hoist Part Deux . It was so much easier to raise and lower the deer to skin , cut , etc !
-
I don't use the pellets . I use the loose powder .

Yeah , I saw a thing that you put a battery operated receiver in your treestand and carried a remote . When you clicked on the remote , it was supposed to light up / blink from the stand . Might be okay if you had a friend using a stand that he hadn't been to before . Might keep someone from wandering around in the dark . Hav't seen them in a couple years so maybe they don't work . -
Your a young buck again Thanks , I needed that !!!!

My wife bought me a new cell phone for Christmas . It's a Samsung Intensity II with picture taking and Texting capabilities . All I really need is a basic cell phone . I got on-line and ordered a car charger plus the Micro Card to store pics so I can transfer them to the computer . It will be nice to take a pic of a deer kill and be able to transfer it to the computer and post it . Does anyone have this phone ? If so , Pros / Cons ......... thanks in advance .

No ! Just the fact that I have 3 sons that can cook . I know guys that probably couldn't even boil water . When my son responded to my question , I cracked up !
-
I use the 777 powder . It's the only powder I have ever tried .
-
With snow on the ground , did you get an idea of their travel route ? Did you come across any fresh tracks or spots where they might have bedded down ? Good luck !

WWRD ------ What Would Rambo Do !!!!!! -
I have 2 daughters and 3 sons . All three sons are excellent cooks . My middle son is now a vegetarian , ugh !!! However quite a while before he became a vegetarian , he would eat venison . One morning I got up and heard the middle son in the kitchen . He was frying up some venison burger and had cut up some onions , red cabbage , peppers and other stuff . He mixed it all together in a big bowl . I asked hime what he called it . He looked at me like it was a dumb question and said , "BREAKFAST" !

My sister in law was wearing brown Carharts with a Blaze Orange hat . I finally got her to at least wear her dad's old red coveralls .
