  1. Some advice ........If you are going to hunt alone make sure that cell phone or GPS unit has a battery with a full charge !
  2. Nothing like sitting in an elevated box blind with sliding windows and a cup of coffee on the shelf waiting for a couple dozen deer to come out on the trail so you can pick out which big buck to shoot over the corn pile . Sweet !!!
  3. Nice job . That's a great looking buck !
  4. probably the worse the BAIT smells , the better . I have seen where coyotes have fed on stuff that would gag a maggot !
  5. Similar to a shot, if the deer haven't seen you, you can usually stop running deer with a short quick yell. They usually won't continue until the have identified what made the noise. They won't run into potential danger, and by yelling you can confuse them. This once again only usually works if the deer haven't already identified you. That works most of the time . I have done it before with a shotgun but not in several years . I douldn't even consider shooting at a runnig deer with a rifle .
  6. Keep us updated on the sheds Wooly .........
  7. They didn't even have af them thar purty gals in the videos !
  8. I had to change the channel . I was watching the Vs channel and they were hunting deer in Texas . What the heck . They had their choice of deer to shoot . And on one program , there was 15 - 20 deer standing on a farm dirt road . Another show had a buck pacing up and down a field looking for love until the guy shot it .
  9. I have a Ruger Super RedHawk 44 mag with a 2X Leopold scope on it . I have never seen anything that great about a Leopold . Just a high priced piece of glass .
  10. Good for her but why 3 shots ! http://www.downsouthhuntingforums.com/images/smiles/snipersmiley.gif[/img]
  11. I know the deer carcasses will attract yotes .
  12. Now that Deer season has ended , we will probably start seeing deer during the daytime in a couple weeks .
  13. Don't know about best "bate" but a Rabbit in Distress call usually brings them in .......
  14. Well Nonnie , the way you hunt squirrels is make them think you are deer hunting and they will be all over the place .
  15. I went out this afternoon and spent 3 1/2 hours in a treestand in Walworth . Never saw a thing . The sun came out but it was still cold .
  16. I agree with Max with part of his post . The Land Owner should have the say in what is done on his property . Someone who has Nuisance permits might not necessarily have the right to hunt that area during regular seasons . And ........ if the land owner is leasing the property to hunters during regular season , the persons with the Nuisance permits shouldn't be hunting there .
  17. Why would anyone want to do this ? For a quick 2nd shot ? Curious
  18. I turned 69 in September and I hunt alone probably 90 percent of the time . I carry a cell phone and let folks know where I will be hunting any particular day .
  19. We have 4 spots that we can use the Nuisance Permits . At two of those spots we have permission from the farmer AND the land owners and at one we are allowed to Bow Hunt during gun season . I hunted one of those spots during bow season this year and that was it for me . As for my statement about if I didn't use the nuisance permit or someone else would do it doesn't meet somone's approval , I could care less . The opportunity was there and I took it . Plus , I don't consider the use of Nuisance Permits hunting . It's shooting .
  20. As for a fix for walkie-talkies , a 20 oz deck hammer will do just fine ! : .... : ...It's probably cheaper to replace them than to have one repaired . You could contact the Motorola Company and see what they might do for you .
