  1. I just pulled my radios out of the cupboard to see what model they are . Motorola Talk-About T5820 . They have a range of 5 miles . The newer ones have a much longer range . I would guess the range wold be on flat groung with no interferance . Anyway 2 of my radios had batteries still in them . I turned them on and they were fine . I'll take the batteries out before putting them back . I think my Motorolas had a price of $60 7 - 8 years ago but I bought them when Gander Mt had them for $20 a pair . They worked fine for our needs
  2. Been there , done that and it has never worked for me . I wanted an inexpensive 22 for shooting chucks around sheds , barns , etc and had a Marlin M60 in mind . The gun dealers wouldn't budge to less than $135 . I bought that rifle at WalMart for $105 ,
  3. Yeah , it was still good shooting !
  4. I had a good set of Midlands until I left one on my rear truck bumper . Slid off when I turned the driveway corner and a passing vehicle ran over it . I have since used Motorolas with good luck . I had a total of six and my son lost one of them . We use to use them when I hunted in Italy Valley as cell phone coverage was bad ( no towers . I havn't used them in about 3 years .
  5. Dave --- Welcome to Hunting NY .
  6. Real nice looking cabinet BBall !
  7. I know the woodchucks could identify my truck but was surprised with the deer . I mean , these deer were way out there and looked up when I started to slow down . That's nervous !
  8. I guess the deer are still nervous . I was driving down Lincoln Rd in Walworth around noon today . I saw 8 deer in a field about 350 - 400 yards away . I slowed down and stopped to take some video and they took off . That far away and they still felt unsafe . It was between Plank and Jacobs roads . Anyway , it was neat to see them out during mid-day !
  9. I was watching a video with the Stanford University Band . Caught a glimpse of someone walking by in a rubber outfit that looked like a tree . I thought --- that would be some great Camo !
  10. It's difficult to pass on something free but in this case I would . I would probably try to make a trade for something else or sell it to someone , if I was able .
  11. Da-yum Mr VJP ------ This is probably one of the few times that I totally agree with you !
  12. Enjoyed the video . It was realistic . It's great that someone will show the missed shots instead of hiding them . Kudos !!!
  13. I hadn't seen it advertised . Thanks , I think ......... The thing I don't like about the dealers at the gun shows is they aren't willing to budge in their prices and they charge more than the stores .
  14. Something that I had intended to try is to take one of the expended pads , soak it it a mosquito repellant , let it dry and seal it in a baggie . Then try it out to see if it works . You might be able to find the butane cartridges in drug stores , WalMart , etc where they have curling irons as some of the units use the butane cartridges for heat in the non electrical units .
  15. Uhhhhhhhhhh , it must be the Stimulus Program ! http://www.downsouthhuntingforums.com/images/smiles/icon_smile_whistling.gif[/img]
  16. Why you callous old coot ! ... ... ..... The article said charges are pending against Milton ( the guy with the loaded rifle ) .
  17. My father in law and i used to hunt on Gibsonville Road that leads to the park but is blocked off . I shot my 1st deer ever on the property . There were a couple of small gullies that branched off into a larger one that went into Letchworth . I have never hunted in the park . About 6 of couple from our church rented one of the cabins in Portageville one winter . We had deer behind the cabin and saw them all over the place .
  18. I have purchased scents before whan they had them on clearance . The only ones that I would buy are the Wildlife Research as they are artificial and don't break down like the real stuff .
  19. The repellant pad is in a sealed envelope . If you use the unit , say for a couple hours, and shut it off for the day , etc , pull the pad from the unit and put it in a small baggie for storage . The pads seem to last longer that way .
  20. Steele's in Avon make some awesome tasting venison products . They usually do up a variety of stuff for the Sportsman's Dinners .....
  21. Exactly ! Doesn't make sense ! Reminds me of a report on TV where a serviceman was home on leave and accidently shot his sister while cleaning a pistol . How the hell do you clean a loaded gun ? I hope the guy who was shot in the foot comes out okay .........
  22. Thanks for sharing the pics ! Great looking deer .
