  1. You sure could hang a lot of hats on that rack !
  2. I trim all the fat and silver skin I can off the deer . I grind it up and put 2+ pounds per package . I don't add any fat to the burger but my son adds ground pork fat to his burger when he makes sausage . Yeah , the Jerky Shooter is a neat tool . If I didn't know better , I wouldn't have guessed it was made from ground meat .
  3. That poacher's mommy was a real piece of work . She accused the officials of taking her pipe ! ')'>http://www.downsouthhuntingforums.com/images/smiles/picker.gif[/img]
  4. I barely remember yesterday let alone "a while back" ..........I barely remember yesterday let alone "a while back" ... Sheesh , I guess I am repeating myself ! http://www.downsouthhuntingforums.com/images/smiles/help.gif[/img]
  5. I would have moved the tacks and sent the guy in a different direction after blocking his cut trail to reroute him . Might as well have some fun with it .
  6. They got the guy with the crossbow and 6 bolts . The warden said it is the weapon of poachers ...... silent and more accurate than a bow . The nerve of him !
  7. Here's a picture of the new world record whitetail. It was taken by the cousin of a co-worker's sister's, uncle's, best friend's, son-in-law's cousin's , neighbors ex-boyfriend's oldest nephew. Reportedly it will score 2603-1/8 by Boone & Crockett standards and was shot in Binghamton , NY on a really windy day, 85 degrees down a hill, around a curve at 900 yards with a 22 mag. Supposedly, this deer had killed a Brahma bull, two Land Rovers and six Jehovah's Witnesses in the last two weeks alone. They said it was winning a fight with Bigfoot when it was shot. I finally have renewed faith in internet stories again.
  8. Did anyone go out today ? It rained most of the night and did the wet snow thing this am . I had to do some digging and draining in the back yard 1st thing this am . My sister in law said the creek that had been ankle deep was probably knee high with water this morning . If it had been like that opening day of gun season , I could have gotten the doe out of the gulley by boat !
  9. I was thinking of taking an old golf bag and one of those 2 wheel carts and doing a camo job on them . Then i could take the ML , Shotgun , Pistol and Bow along . Kinda like picking which club to use .......... : ... ;D ... ;D ... ;D
  10. I know you can't carry a pistol with you during bow season but i'd bet it would be legal to carry a gun and bow during gun season as long as you had the licenses .
  11. What page in the Regs Booklet is that on ? : ... ;D ... ;D ... ;D
  12. I checked out the Time Warner Finger Lakes guide and couldn't find it listed on Discovery . I did find it listed on National Geographics channel ( 73 ) at 10 pm . It has Wild Justice ..... Outgunned ...assault on nocturnal poachers
  13. Nice unit but you won't find me cooking dinner in the treestand or groundblind . I'll go the cheap way and carry the Thermos , if necessary . But ..... the Stanley Thermos doesn't keep things hot for long .
  14. I bought it strictly for processing deer . I keep those knives separate from all the kitchen knives . Thanks for the help ......
  15. Cabin Fever --- No doubt the term --hunter came from Walt Disney . In the original story about Bambi , Walt Disney substituted "hunter" for the word "poacher" . The folks that do these shows most often have no clue about hunting . Poor research .
  16. Just bought a Wusthof Boning knife with leather sheath on EBAY for $17.50 plus $9.99 shipping . I had the winning bid . Saw some with some real high prices so I think I got a deal .
  17. I had some Mesquite Marinade mix that I added to some ground venison . Mixed it in as best i could and let it set for a day . Used the Jerky Shooter to make strips to place in the trays . I put it in the De-hydrator overnight and that was too long . It came out in strips that you would not think had been ground at one time . Been pigging out on it for a couple days . Made some more but left it in the de-hydrator for less than 5 hours . That is more pliable and quite tasty . I buy the marinade mixes because I am too lazy to make my own .
  18. I have done that on private property where guys who have no business there had used my stands and I have forgotten to take the key with me to unlock it . Da-yum !!!
  19. It would be nice to see the follow up story on this !
  20. That sharpening system runs $60 plus shipping . My oldest son shoots single bevel blades on his home-made footed arrows and those babies are razor sharp . He also does his knives on the system . A double wheel grinding unit with a speed of 3450 rpms is necessary for it and I have one . Looks like this might be a Christmas present !
  21. Thanks for the suggestions . The Henkel knives look pretty good . My son has the Grizzley Stik Razor Sharp System for his knives and broadheads . I might be getting one for Christmas . http://www.alaskabowhunting.com/GrizzlyStik-Razor-Sharp-System-P168C17.aspx
  22. I am waiting and hoping to be the 1st person to shoot a deer wearing a watch on it's hoof ! ... ...
