Hunting in Kali-fornia ? That's a hoot !

This is how it looks before the "clean-up" ............

There would be an overpopulation of deer as well as more deer / vehicle accidents . More and more of the deer's domain is being lost to housing tracts . The suggestion / proprosal would get sha-zit canned !

I had a treestand in Geneseo that split off into 3 trunks . I put a 3' X 4' pressure treated stand in it about 18' high . I shot several deer from there and got my 1st bowkill from there . It had a great viev across a woods and there is a big ditch behind it . We could hunt the other side also . I got busted when I turned to look behind me . I took care of that problem . I took a 5" X 8" camping mirror the next time and fastened it to one of the trunks in the stand with a bungie cord . I could see movement behind me when there was some . I could spot other hunters when they were approaching . Soooooo , I can see where that Deer View Mirror might be handy .

I'll give that a 2 thumbs up !

Personally , I prefer the single stage . I have a Lyman Turret Press and a Lee single Stage . I use both of them as a single stage . * Caselube the brass *** Resize the brass * Tumble the brass * Clean the primer pocket and chamfer the casemouth * Weigh powder and pour *** Seat the bullet So I don't have a need to use a progressive reloader as I am using the press in 2 steps of my process . I reload 223 , 25-06 , 270 , 308 and 44 mag with no problem . What I need for my reloading is Lock Rings dor my dies .

Exactly ! It gives folks the impression that Hunters are Drinkers and that they drink while they hunt . When I saw the cartoon , it touched a nerve .

It's been there for 20 minutes and I don't see anything for sale yet ! :

Opening day I try to hang in there for the duration . I might take my hub blind and a chair along this time so I can sack out if need be . I find it very tiring to sit all day and gey drowsey after a while . I am usually setup about 45 - 60 minutes before legal time so it gives the area time to quiet down .

Those darned deer don't read the books that we do ! ???

I don't recall when the Sunday hunting 1st started but then , I DON't believe in Sunday hunting . I hold Sundays sacred !!! Sundays are for Football ! Weaver Qwik Point sight . My wife bought it for me the Christmas of 1965 . There used to be a gunshop in Lakeville where I had it mounted .

Like I said in another post , I got the survey in the mail a few minutes ago . It was postmarked Sept 28 . The day before I started my whining !

It will have you list up to 4 areas ( town , county , WMU ) that you hunt in as well as daily info -- hours on stand , bucks, anterless deer, other , turkey , red fox , gray fox racoon , coyote , grouse and a few other less common . It will have an instructions sheet . I picked up the mail a few minutes ago and got mine in today's mail . All that crying and whining for nothing . Saw 3 of these guys in South Bristol in 2008

The DEC sucks as far as communicating with the public . I received a letter in the mail a couple years ago that they were discontinuong one of the surveys they did in Region for lack of participants . They needed 75 - 100 and were only getting 60 people . Sixty ! I wrote back and told them that if they would give those 60 people an advance notice , then they could probably each get at least 5 (or more) of their acquaintances to participate . I never got a reply . I had sent it to Arthur Kirsch at the Avon office . He doesn't answer the phone either . Busy man ! : .... : .... :

With the help of burmjohn , I was able to send an e-mail . As for answering the phone I would expect someone at the DEC to talk to concerned citizens . Even if it's to tell me to go to hell . I even requested an assistant or anyone who might be able to give me some informatio .

My situation was where one of my HS classmates had at least 20 guys for breakfast and then we split into 2 groups (posters & drivers) . WE took turns alternating between the two . Out of 20 I knew about 5 but had never hunted with any of them and never did again .

I cannot e-mail the DEC because it wants me to install a different Mail System ........

Other than a couple of 2 man drives , I havn't done any drives in over 30 years . We were doing some drives in woods in Groveland years ago . A buck doubled back and was running our way . I swung my shotgun up and over and as I saw the deer go by , I saw the hunter to my left swinging his shotgun horizontally across and my heart stopped . What if he had pulled the trigger when the buck was in line with me ! I never went on a deer drive since then except doing 2 man drives with my son .

I called the Avon office twice today and left a voice message and I also called the Albany office once and did the same . No one has returned my call . What is ironic is that I got a 10 year participant patch in the mail today . Do the DEC guys hang out at the Donut Shop like the cops ? They sure as hell don't stay in their office ........... >

I usually enjoy the "B.C. Cartoon each day but today's cartoon pissed me off !
