  1. Two years ago I shot a buck during bow season and a doe with the ML . The doe was bigger than the buck . I butchered the buck and got 53# of meat . I was too lazy to butcher the doe and took it to a processor . I came home with 31# of venison and like I said the doe was larger and I got 22 less pounds of meat at a cost of $65 . Never again !
  2. When you turn the gadget , it tears the wall membranes of the anal cavity , snags it and pulls right out .
  3. Here ya go , I think ............ http://s271.photobucket.com/albums/jj146/parker-bows/?action=view&current=ButtOutTool.flv
  4. I made a video that I should post showing the Butt Out tool .
  5. Last year I bought a new 2008 Honda Rancher 420 . It had what I needed and knocked the price down lower than the 2009's .
  6. They look like crap . I thought that's why they changed them . They probably look okay to Gov Patterson though ! : .. :
  7. There is a guy in Lyons , NY that has penned deer . He collects deer pee , bottles and sells it .The deer go into a building that has a slanted floor . When the deer pee it travels downhill to a screen and a collection bin . I often wonder how pure it can be as there must be some contaminants and if it isn't bottles instantly , it would start to break down . Anyway the guy uses a blowgun to put the does into estrous .

    Road-kill

I have seen a lot of roadkill along Routes 104 , 590 and 390 . The State used to have contracts with individuals to pick up the dead deer but with Stae Budget cutbacks , the carcass' are just left there to rot away .

    Scent

WE just take some things for granted . We know deer , etc can smell us but don't know all the details about scent . When you have the answers , let us know . ;D I have not seen any in-depth articles on scent .
  10. Does anyone else use the Butt-Out Tool ? I bought one about 3 - 4 years ago and think it works great . I have arthritis in my fingers and it's difficult for me to pull the anus out to tie it off but the tool makes it a breeze . It's light and doesn't take much room but a lot of hunters think it's a waste .
  11. I used to bottle years ago . I quit doing that and just started wizzing whenever I had to go . I also pee in scrapes when I see them . A couple years ago I was in a 15' ladder stand . A button buck walked to the base of the stand where I had pee'd , sniffed and looked up when I moved . I had my bino camera and the BB was so close the pic came out fuzzy . The BB just wandered off nonchalantly . The pee didn't bother him at all .
  12. I live in Ontario , NY . I hunt mostly in the Geneseo / Groveland area . I also hunt in Mendon , Walworth and sometimes Italy Valley .
  13. I had a Chevy S-10 that got poor gas milage and was costing too much in repairs . Last year I bought a 2009 Subaru Forester AWD . It has a towing capacity of 2400 pounds .
  14. I have seen Bigfoot ..............
  15. I got them last year but didn't fill the DMPs . Only got a shot at one deer and put that one in the freezer .
  16. My most exciting moment was my 1st Archery buck in 1996 . I had been bow hunting for a couple of years at the time and was about 55 years old . It was worth more to me than any of my gun kills . What an adrenaline rush !
  17. They started a QDM in Italy Valley about 3 years ago and have started seeing bigger bucks ...........
  18. The biggest problems I have doing my own butchering is pulling off the hide and hoisting the deer . I have arthritis in my fingers and it's hard to grip some things . Pulling the hide off is difficult . I hang a Gambrel in the garage and when you hoist and release , a lever is supposed to catch the rope . It doesn't alway catch sooooooooo , I bought a 2 ton 12 volt winch at Harbor Freight mounted it on the garage wall , hooked up a couple of pullys and hung my Gambrel on the hook . I can clamp the terminals to a 12 volt battery and hoist away using the hand control . Works pretty slick ..............
  19. My Parker Phoenix EZ-Draw is 70# and my Ben Pearson TX-4 is set at 61# . The 70# compound is easier to draw than a 50# recurve .......
  20. For me , it has always been the idiot that uses his scope instead of Binos . Nothing scarier than having some jerk looking at you with his shotgun / rifle scope ! I have gotten pretty verbal with a few of these people !
  21. For the past few years I have been buying the 15' ladder stands . They work fine .......
  22. I started bowhung later in life and enjoy it more than gun hunting . Less folks in the woods during archery season . I like that . I figure as long as this 68 year old body can still draw 70# , i'll stick with bowhunting .
  23. I switched from Muzzy 100 gr 3 blade to Tekan II's until I found out they are illegal . Switched to the Rage II's and have shot several deer with them . No problem . They leave some awesome holes !
  24. I just joined and there seems to be enough variety .
