  1. Is that an EOTech on your shotgun?
  2. All 4 go with a rifle, Personally, I wouldn't take any with a bow.
  3. KenAxe, I wanna believe that the Rage 40ke's are as good as rage says they are but it just doesn't seem like they could be at that low of a draw weight. I feel like you give up so much power getting the head to open as opposed to a fixed blade just cutting right through with brute force of 36-38lbs, lol!
  4. A couple people have told me to look into the Magnus Stinger 100grain 2blade cut on contacts and the Slick Trick 100 grain 4 blade broadheads. What do you think about the two?
  5. Karpteach, they still honor the deal if you can find a store that has it in stock. I called and checked myself a few days ago.
  6. Iv heard from many that cut on contact is the way to go. Iv also been told to stick with 2 blades and to stay away from all mechanicals especially the rage 40ke's.
  7. I have always liked Thunderheads but they don't fly true to the field point. Iv always had to re-adjust my sight which is why I have recently transitioned over to mechanicals. Im shooting a Mathews Z7 Extreme, 70 pounds, 29.5 draw length and I'm using full metal jacket arrows. Its just straight brute force. I personally don't mind re adjusting the site myself, but after getting my girlfriend dead on at 20 It would be a pain to have to go through it again for the broadhead then have to re adjust when she's ready to go back to field points. Today so many of these fixed blade heads fly dead on with the field points. Littlesunray, Iv read about the rage 2 blade 40ke's which are made for people using the draw weight of 40 and under, but I have read so much negative reviews on them I would be way to nervous for her to use them.
  8. Hello all, My girlfriend is pulling 36 pounds on her Mathews Mission Craze. She's been shooting for about 6 months solid now and when she started shooting she was at about 20lbs. We have deer/boar/gator hunt down south coming up next month and I am trying to decide what would be the best broadhead for her to use considering she's still at a fairly low poundage. I would like her to reach 38-40lbs before we get down south but we shall see. Id imagine right off the plate that mechanicals would be out considering the draw weight. So what do you guys recommend? She's using 100 grain field points on her carbon arrows and at 20 yards she's dead on. In my closet I have 100 grain Thunder Heads, 100 Grain 2 blade rages and 100 grain 2 blade blood runner's. Both the rages and the bloodrunners I wouldn't use with her as I would assume most would agree with that. Any info would be greatly appreciate. Thanks
  9. More photos would be nice. Cabelas has it for 99.00 with mail in rebate and free shipping to your door. Just something to keep in mind in regards to the price. Thanks
  10. I was always told you really can never over wax your bows as long as you consistently shoot. I wax my compounds and recurves every other time I shoot them. I wax my crossbow every 10 shots and definitely every time I use it.
  11. QAD Ultrarest HDX is the way to go if you have the money. Like everything else in this world, you get what you pay for. Its a good product.

    Broadheads

My question to this thread would be... Are any of the NAP Mechanicals (spitfires) Illegal in NYS. Or in other words, do they retract back into shooting position when pulling them out of a deer?
  13. My mistake, you are right. Just trying to establish if the blades close when pulling arrow out backwards.
  14. Congrats on the bird. I understand WNYBuckHunter said they aren't barbed or illegal, BUT, according to NAP's website they do lock back which would consider them barbed. If the law is different for turkey hunting I would like to know. Im just trying to play by the books. THis is how they describe the product. NAP SpitFire Gobbler Getter 3-Blade 100 Grain Broadhead - 3pk Spitfire is undoubtedly the most trusted name in mechanical broadheads! Spitfires fly straight with pinpoint accuracy and preform better than any other mechanical thanks to the sharpest Diamizeᆰメ blades, and they stand up under the toughest conditions. Patented Silver Bullet Point The patented scooped out Slimlineï ferrule improves flight and penetration. Patented snap-locking blade system holds the blades closed during flight, even out of today's fastest bows - no rubber bands needed
  15. Have you hunted with him for his Maine bear hunt? Is the guide service one on one? Do you have any information that would particulary convince someone on this site to go with your buddy as opposed to the many other outfitters in Maine? Thanks
  16. Are those mechanicals illegal in New York? Aren't they considered barbed?
  17. Quick summary of The Thrill of The Hunt in one word... AMAZING! It completely puts an entire new perspective into bowhunting. It makes a shooter become much better at judging distances and elevation adjustment on the fly. Its worth the drive from anywhere in North America, let alone Queens in my opinion! My girlfriend and I both shot the course and loved it. She left an arrow behind accidentally and that might be an excuse for us to go again tomorrow! Art is a true gentlemen and has a lot of knowledge to give out. My girlfriend was shooting slightly off and he put her dead on. 1st class operation and facility. Hopefully Ill be back tomorrow but if not, definitely before my next bow hunt! Recommend it to everyone on this forum and everyone who bow hunts.
  18. Ill be there in the morning (Saturday morning) shooting Crossbow, followed by compound. Excited to see the thrill!
  19. I spoke with Art earlier this evening. He is a complete gentlemen. What a pleasure to deal with on the phone! I haven't been to his place yet, but it already gets a thumbs up.
  20. That video is great, Nut you are right on buddy, that chrono has to be off!
  21. Yea except its not really that far fetch for for big companies like Horton or Barnett to donate money to the Dept of Conservation. Either way probably just a rumor.
