  1. Awww they were even nice enough to cut them up into bite size treats.
  2. Nothing better, thats what its all about.
  3. Butchering atleast for me is a very special time where i get to joke around and enjoy quality time with my family.
  4. I really dont think they added pig fat, i just think it was a lack of them trimming away the deer fat. Give them a buzz and let us know.
  5. Even then with whole cuts im still not convinced you getting your deer back.
  6. Like grow said, not sure he added fat. Probably didnt take the time to trim off all the deer fat. Thats one reason why i prefer to butcher my own deer.
  7. I was able to get mine for $65 (which is a $100 knife) only because the guy did not have the one in stock that i ordered and that he had advertised as being available on his website. So for the inconvenience he gave me a $35 discount. The guy was extremely quick and responsive, excellent communication. Now lets hope it comes soon and is as good as the picture..lol
  8. Not a fan of Jesse, but he turns out some great stuff. I'm sure alot of his personality is TV driven.
  9. Thanks for the info., i can see an addiction in the future...lol..I will check out that forum.
  10. I placed an order on a knife, should be arriving in a few days. Its an early birthday gift to myself...lol..Ordered from a small forging shop in Georgia. This was not my original choice but after i ordered the guy got back to me in minutes and said he was out of the knife i wanted. He just made a new batch of knives and would give me the knife pictured for the same price even though it was $35 more. This knife is just wider than my original choice and has the extra gut hook near the handle. Guess it worked out for the best as i like this unique looking knife. So heres the specs: demascus skinning blade with double gut hooks, full tang, brass bolsters, dark walnut wood handle, black leather sheath.
  11. Would love a GSP, but believe they have lots of energy.
  12. Thanks for that info., ive been researching and there are quite a few reasonably priced fixed damascus hunting knives that can be found online. Just have to find one that appeals to me. Thanks again.
  13. Nice. Alot of greys by me in central NY, have yet to see a red.
  14. Nice catch, i love the way fox look. They are like a pomeranian on steriods...lol...ultimate little killing machine.
  15. Anytime, if you have any questions just let me know. Thanks.
  16. I smoke my soppresatta for 10 to 12 hours before hanging which cuts down on my drying time. If you skip the smoking process and just hang after making them then your hang/dry time would be much longer. I anticipate that around the 3rd or 4th weeks they will be dry, but inside of the soppresatta will still be slightly moist like i like it. I dont measure humidity, i just keep in a cool place. A temp. Of 40 is fine not sure why you would want it warmer. My enclosed patio temps fluctuate slightly , I just ensure its nice and cold which is usually not a problem this time of year. I periodically wipe them off as they tend to drip off natural oils as they dry. Im right about 13 days into drying.
  17. Sounds to me like a Mr. Know it all, with people like that its a loosing battle. Right or wrong, its thier way or the highway...lol
  18. Dont risk it bud, i have done plently of ladder stands and its a 2 to 3 person job. Better to be safe and with people close by.
  19. And i bet you are correct, dont put anything past those loonies. Bet thier also doing a communal tree hug and lighting candles.
  20. Wait, foolish to do a ladder stand by yourself. Be safe.
  21. Opinion /flaws or what not , you wouldnt approach a friend and point out what he maybe doing wrong and offer up suggestions? For people to say they cant give or take honest criticism, i say then they arent a true friend. Maybe hes not a true friend, just someone to keep close for the sake of a hunting spot. Only chas would know that. In any instance, i would still say something in a honest tactful manner . For christs sake its one friend to another trying to help the other with his butchering skills and to potentially stop the waste of venison. Obviously if this guy shot 8 deer and waste approx. 15 lbs per deer, you do the math. It would be a crime not to help or make mention.
