  1. It's 4 am and I'm hungery, wondering where I should go for breakfast. Just wondering where everyone likes to stop to eat before they hit the woods.
  2. I stick with the ML during regular just because I like it. I do however strap on the .357.
  3. I bought a package deal and swaped out the simons scope with a leupold I had. As for someone looking for a solid starter gun the Savage combo isn't a bad deal. the Savage I bought has a free floated bbl that you can change and put a different cal. on. I think you also have to change the bolt head when you do that.
  4. I'll use whatever shoots more accurate out of my guns. Can't kill them if you can't hit them. you have to kill it before you can grill it.
  5. Questions like that don't bother me. I just consider where it's comming from a "NON HUNTER".
  6. I do have larger hand guns. They allow you to carry a .22 during regular season as long as you do not use it as a primary or secondary impliment for deer hunting. I understand they don't want you to take shot with a 357 if you muzzleloader doesn't go bang or you miss.
  7. DA TURDY POINTER

  8. I would just rinse it with water and hang it outside to air dry.
  9. Grizzly bears just want you dead. So if you play dead they usually leave you. Black bears usually run away but if they attack they most likely will eat you.
  10. Most guys would recomend a 44 mag revolver for bear. That also a bit much for home defense. I hunt with a muzzleload and carry a 357 with hard cast ammo for bear. So a nice revolver in 357 with a 4 in bbl would do fine. You can 38 through it for cheap practice. I would stay away from autos unless you really do a lot of practice. I carry for work and one thing I know a revolver doesn't jam like an auto. Takes a lot to get use to tap and rack situations.
  11. Last year I bought a 686 ss new. I belive it was some where around 750. My best guess would be no more than 450.
  12. Most places sell BUCK SHOT, dont get caught hunting with it.
  13. I just looked on the savage web site at the axis. While im sure its a great gun I noticed that it does not have the accu trigger. I bought the model 111 which has the accu trigger and I really like. What I don't like about the one I have is that it does not have a detachable mag. I bought the package deal at the Sports Authority for 399.
  14. 30-06 or 308 ammo is every where and in many variations. I sugessted the 308 for the lighter recoil on a new hunter. Both very accurate rounds. TC makes a quality gun but I think there over priced and over rated.
  15. I have never shot a bear myself, but a 308 should be more than enough gun.
  16. Rifle I would go with a savage package deal. I bought one last year for a bad weather gun in .308. It's a awsome shooting gun. Not a big shotgun hunter but think a remington or mosberg pump would be ok.
  17. What bothers me is there is no crossbow course, and you don't need a bow license. I can see alot of stupid stuff happening.
  18. Rossi is part of Taurus, As for Ruger. Most people swear by there Rugers I did nothing but swear at them. I had owned three different Ruger hand guns. Not only were they inaccurate but the 44 mag fell apart on me every time I went to the range.
  19. Did that once, made a hat out of the thing.
  20. it's been along time since heared that one. I used nail polish on my muzzleloader nipple and caps to keep them water proof.
  21. I fired a couple over the years and they seem to be good shooters. Long story short I decided to get a 357 last year. After alot of research I purchased a S&W model 686, 6 shot,6 in bbl. The fit and finish on the S&W was so much better and wow it is the best shooting revolver I ever fired.

    Shaving

I have to be clean shaven for work, which sucks. I grew my beared out for the season every year when I could.
  23. I'm not looking to hunt with it. I'm just looking for that warm fuzzy feeling, should I have to spend another night in the woods during ML season.
  24. I may NOT carry any firearm during bow season, understood. I may carry the 22 during regular deer season, understood. Where lies the ML season?
