  1. In nys it is legal buy, sell, and owne an automatic knife. It is illegal to posess unless you fall into one of the exemptions. Such as for use while hunting and fishing while you are licensed to do so (nys hunting and fishing license).
  2. Where is the hard water? i Wanna go fishin.

  6. I prefer my 22 mag, but give it a try and let us know how it works out for you.
  7. If it ain't broke don't fix it. I still soot round ball out of my side lock and it hasn't failed me yet.
  8. Was wondering if any one knows of a gun smith around Albany that can cut a barrel. I have an old muzzleloader I would like to take a few inches off the barrel just for kicks.
  9. I'm 42 years old and have bought and sold may guns over the years. I have had a handgun permit for over 20 years. I have to say theres nothing like walking into a gun shop where they at least know your face. If you find a nice gun shop stop in once in a while just to see whats new or buy some ammo. Your driving past the shop or just in the area stop in. I now have to stop a Dicks for business. There is a guy working in there that owned his own sport shop at one time years ago and he remembers me. So many times I have wanted to say whats up with this place, how can you work here. I just smile and say, I may need his help some day.
  10. I was just looking to buy ammo and when you want to buy ammo thats chambered in a rifle they have no right to do that.
  11. Back in the early 1990's I attempted to purchase pistol ammo from Dick's. The employee of Dicks asked to see my permit and I asked why. I was told they needed to make sure I was a legal handgun owner of that caliber. I told them I had a permit and they didn't need to see it. I walked out and have never returned. That crap they pull just isn't right. As you know there a rifles out that fire most kinds of pistol ammo. I'll pay a little extra at a gun shop just so I won't have to deal with that crap. Dicks lost a good customer.
  12. I have wanted to shoot a black bear for a long time now. I went on a guided trip last year. I got a boat trip and a bad camping trip out of it. Myself and six other guys that i had never met before, not one of use even got a look at a bear. It was also bow season for deer and everyone had brought a bow incase we got a bear we could hunt deer. That was pointless no one even saw a deer. The guide basicly dropped us off in the woods and told us to follow a ribbon line to a tree stand. I don't think I'll ever pay for another guided hunt unless I know someone that has hunted with the guide and recomends them.
  13. Treat every gun as if it were loaded, keep it pointed in a safe direction, & Never put your finger on the trigger unless you intend to fire it. If you can't remember those THREE THINGS you shouldn't have a gun in your hands.
  14. WOW! Who gives a kid a gun they don't think will work. Blow up your kid with a hunk of junk you won't use?
  15. You cant remove a 1/2 nut with a 9/16 socket. You can use a cresent wrench on both but it sometimes gets ugly. Thats why I have more than one gun in my locker.
  16. Nice deer, but some times it's more about the story. Great job!
  17. My first deer and first buck were one in the same. It was an eight point about that size. Every time I look at that mount I remember it like yesterday. I wouldn't trade that feeling for anything. Try not to make any mistakes, I hope you nail him.
  18. Apparently only fat people hunt. I have to go to Gander Mountain and shop for hunting cloths in the you section. The fat kid section.
  19. That sucks, I fell bad for they guy but leaving it in your vehicle is not the best thing to do.
  20. They can't refuse you unless they have a good reason. They can however place what they call an administrative resriction on your permit ie "hunting & targeting". I carry a gun every day for work yet I am not a cop, my license still says "Hunting and targeting". Years ago a friend of mine used me as a reference to get his permit. He has since become a police officer and a FFL dealer, his permit still says "Hunting & targeting". In NY there are only two kinds of permits "Premis permit" and "Carry concealed".
  21. It takes time but they can't refuse to give you one unless they have a good reason, like you have been arrested.
  22. I guess the reason these questions don't bother me is because I get asked dumber questions while I work. I work as an armored car employee and anyone I don't know or have busines with is a potential threat. Yet every idiot walking the street needs to walk up to me and ask me "Is that a real gun", "You ever have to shoot someone", "Do you have any extra", "You have any free samples", "Oh you brought my pay check". Just a bit of advice to all, don't approach an armored car employee while thier working. You catch someone on a bad day you could end up in a world of hurt.
  23. I'm suprised at the response. Judging from the amount of cammo and hunter orange I see in some of these places, I figured there would be more people that had a big breakfast before heading.
