  1. These threads are like watching a train wreck. we all hate them but just can't help ourselves...lol. Helo, my name is Culver and I am an addict.
  2. Wait....we still have to talk about baiting and trespassers. I don't think we touched on those two in this thread yet
  3. I have seen guys with releases that are shooting bows set to heavy for them. You know the ones, that strat theri draw witht he arrow pointed up at a 45 degree angle or higher. They get in that habit of drawing the bow with th efinger infront of the trigger and all it takes is one slip and that arrow is off to lands unknown.
  4. That is becasue Joe, in their eyes you are just a mass murder in waiting. It is just a matter of time before you snap.
  5. They will and no matter which way it ends up the sky won't have fallen. I do hope they get their act together for at least the older and disabled hunters. If they miss that boat is will be a shame.
  6. Rumor onthe street is that the bolt originated form an indoor archery range. You guys know those crossbows are capable of shooting right through concrete blocks and concrete.
  7. Your Item 3 is in line with what I was saying, whether you see that or not. So with all these confusing laws you want to put another one on there? Mandatory AR's could have an impact of actually reducing hunter numbers. And even in Mandatory area the youth are exempt. I know private co ops that practice QDM that also give the youth a pass. It keeps them interested and that is as it should be. The numbers in the organization are not large here in NY but they are growing every year. We are behind other states in this process but without an effort to get the information out there it will never change. What effort have you made?
  8. Most times I skin it and take the breast off to roast or smoke. The rest I use in soup. I tried smoking the drumsticks once but the tendons in there are about a factor of 4 over a farm raised bird. Must be like the difference between a marathon runner and a couch potato..lol. You spend more time picking them out that eating the meat. If I am making a big pot of soup and have taken a jake I have used the whole bird in the soup. I usually freeze some then and it keeps really well.
  9. I hunt 4 different areas of the sate and I can tell you just by the shots you hear there are fewer hunters out there. (unless everyone is becoming crack shots and that isn't what some threads on here claim...lol) The QDAM summit was held and WNY attended and he has a clear understanding of what THEY explained is actually represented in the report and how it was obtained. Hell I bet the DEC can't even tell us for sure how many of us stepped into the woods this past year. As fas as me supporting letting yearlings wanlk and not supporting MANDATORY AR's, I don't think it is a stretch at all. I practice it and believe it need to happen through education and NOT another regulation. I don't get the quote of the mission statement, not sure what you are tryign to say but I can tell you as I stated above, QDMA does not support mandatory AR unless 3 conditions are met and they are not being met in NY, Hence they do not support it here.....as a MANDATORY REGULATION. THe day they do is the day I leave.
  10. Skinner. Most times I use them in soup so I don't worry about drying out. Also the smoker keeps them moist even without the skin.
  11. Belo, you are wrong on QDMA's position on AR's They will only support them if 3 considtions are met. In NY they have not been met so they do not support MANDATORY AR's. I do support letting the young bucks wallk but do not support mandatory AR"s. I believe WNY is the same. Also him pointing out a flaw in a report is not bashing the organization.
  12. Mike. That may actually lead to a one buck rule and I would be all for that. Maybe they will take a stance of adding them to units that have yearly doe harvests below the desired numbers. 8h is under on the tales
  13. and they are really going to go up when they add the crossbows to the season.
  14. And what year di they make the big push with the lifetimes? I think it was a last chance before the raised the age for free licenses and last year for including hte doe permits with it. Was that 08/09?
  15. I am sure it is becsue of the Liberal nature of the county. I am sure there are many there in favor of the Safe act.
  16. I believe Tompkins has multiple resolutions on the table. Some stronger than the others. I think their meeting is tonight.
  17. did you hear the leak from his staff member stating Cuomo didn't even know the details in the bill?
  18. There are new members joining every month. Some of the folks on this thread weren't even here last year for the 3rd annual crossbow debate...lol
  19. https://www.facebook.com/#!/photo.php? fbid=137731866408598&set=a.119818538199931.19761.119818408199944&type=1&theater This is a colored in map. As you can imagine the ones not yet passing a resolution against it are NYC and Long Island, Tompkins(Ithaca), Broome (Binghamton) and Albany
  20. Grow, The same ones advocating for gun control are the same groups that would come unglued it an inmates "rightst" were violated. They side more with the criminals than the law abiding citizen. These scum repeat offenders should be locked up in a 4x6 cell with no window and their food slid through the door to them. never to see the light of day and never to be a threat to society again. It is high time to get beyond tough with criminals, I say take off the kid gloves and threat them worse than the animals they are. You get found guilty opf a firearms crime and you are a 2 or 3 time loser, into the box. bye bye. no parole no nothing.
  21. I like a 28" barrel but if I were you I would check out the Ultimag in the classifieds.
