  1. I've had my eye on one for years... Just investing in different types of weapons for the arsenal lately. So when he mentioned new slug gun it was my first answer. He is just concerned about dropping down to a 20ga and since he's "getting old" he's not interested in getting the crap knocked out of his shoulder anymore - bringing us back to the 11-87 barrel
  2. My father has decided to hang up his 50+ year old 870 and " upgrade " his slug gun. We have it narrowed down to two options... A savage 220 or a cantaliever barrel for his 11-87 12ga super mag. I guess I am open to suggestions but the reason I'm posting is I'm hoping someone in the Erie county area has a 220 and may consider letting my father "test drive" it. I'm sure he would throw a box of slugs your way or something... I know from reading the gun does kick and if its overpowering for him, it will be the new barrel. So there's only one way to try it... Anyone willing to help ? Tia
  3. Tempting offer... The stream is beyond bright, feels great so far. Getting the red lens soon and will be able to give a better review then.
  4. First off thanks for the compliment ! But yes, I'm not looking to score anybodys deer honey hole. I am looking to give any assistance if I can to those unsure of how to go about calling in dogs. I am a self taught hunter and have invested many hours in the woods. I have started a sizeable collection of coyote gear and just want to use it ! You can't successfully call the same spot over and over. So yes, I'd love to put a fawn killer on the ground at YOUR honey hole, but I'd prefer to grow MY bucks and kill em on MY piece of dirt ! I wouldn't be doing what I do on my land ( cams, plots, cover, etc) if I wanted to poach yours. Sorry you or anyone got that impression.
  5. So, I'll be giving a daily update on lights I guess. The cyclops was a bust. Was bright, just not enough for my liking. So I grabbed the streamlight . main reason for the switch is the cyclops wouldn't charge right out of the box. I had to monkey with the plug just to get it charging. The streamlight is on charge as we speak.
  6. Got the cyclops 500. Not bad. Haven't got a full charge on it yet but the rens lens seems to be effective around 200+. If I shine it at the reflective signs ( snowmobile trail ) I am able to light them up, so I assume eyes will be similar. Hopefully have a good test of battery life this weekend
  7. I have a kill light on the rifle... So I'm just after a new scan light. The one I have now is a halogen at 1m candle power. Big and heavy. Perfect light, just sick of packing it in the woods.
  8. So, I have cabelas gift cards but I'm now thinking of getting the cyclops 500. Half the price and prob half the light of the streamlite, but allows me to get some other gear too. If I don't like it I'll be glad to return it. Anybody have one ?
  9. I don't know where your going.... Do u have experience with the stream light ? I should get a more " fancy " unit ? What is a Prius ?
  10. With high med and low I should be able to adjust to brightness. U can always turn it down, but if need be you can always turn it up too !
  11. Right, so if its 500 and u put a filter on it will be perfect for spotting, plus I can reach out for spotting deer and have a hell of a flashlight need be...
  12. Considering the stream light waypoint lithium for scanning. Might pick it up this weekend for a weekend hunt... Will post back Supposedly 1000 lumens for 3hrs. Can get green and red lens. Also says it can reach out almost 700yrds. I'll never need half that. Can't find any reviews online so I'll be the test rat.
  13. On a side note.... Anybody been out ? Sightings ? Sign ?
  14. I'll have to pull out the old cards but I had friends trapping at my house and two nights in a row the weasel got in and out of the box without getting caught. Put my trailcam in the back of the box... Got a sweet video of the weasel poking his head in and out then hoping in over the trap and out with the bait. He switched to a conabear.... Old "popgoesda" didn't make it past that one.
  15. Forget the owls, wait till the dogs start barking and how long and start getting closer.... Trust me, 500 yrds away sounds like 50 and 100yrds away sounds like 10!!! Best adrenaline rush ever
  16. I'm even in catt county / franklinville area too. Definitely prefer dusk to night hunting. Full moons are awesome.
  17. Hello all. I posted last year with no takers, but I am looking for new ground and new hunting friends. I've been after dogs for a long time and I ha e the equipment to help. Upgraded the FoxPro last year, have decoys, etc. If you have a spot you hear dogs and don't know how to go about it, pm me and lets get a plan to put some fur on the ground. I'm up for anything. I can call for you or run the lights, whatever you want ! Let's get some fawn killers in the dirt !
  18. Well, its number 5 over 120". Im not saying you haven't, but I have busted my butt for many years from last day of season to first day of season. Let a zillion walk, and also had buck-less seasons. Also, I sat on a horseshoe many years ago and haven't been able to find it since !Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk
  19. Wow. 4k$ !?! I mean really ? Even 1k for the rem, rediculous ! I don't think I would ever spend that kind of scratch on a ml, even if I had it ! I thought my 600$ t/c was expensive ! Guess I'm pretty happy doing 2" groups at 150yrds !!!Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk
  20. Thanks ! And thanks for bringing back last years memories !! Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk
  21. That first and second pic are spot on. Hopefully it's a natural look ! Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk
  22. Well... that looks a bit heavy duty for a red Ryder !Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk
  23. My wife and I have decided with the kids we just do a couple small things for each other, so I didn't get a ton of hunting stuff... I did get some much needed base layers, and an even more needed blaze orange hoodie. The good stuff that I got for myself...a new UA cold gear jacket and pants and gloves.. And I got a couple healthy gift cards to cabelas. Not sure what I'll get but I know I'll leave with NO gift cards. Just wanted to see if Santa got anybody else anything sweet...?
