  7. If the target is hogs, I'm not sure if we have any hog savy guys from pa, as this is a ny forum. Second, my .02 is that there's prob plenty of state land in Jersey that is crawling with tree rats. I'd take baby steps with the new hunters. Squirrel hunting is a great way to hit all the things your trying to accomplish. Safety. Respect the animal. Clean / eat them etc. Squirrel hunting can be an absolute blast and your almost guaranteed to get an opportunity. Idk. I feel like after I read your post I thought of so many other things I would personally do different. Sorry I'm not much help. Good luck, your on the right path with trying to get the kids in the woods !! Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk
  8. Congrats chef! Had a mammy hanging in the field and Jr gave me the green light. She wouldn't commit closer than 100. Well, 108 but who's counting. He was happy though cause he got his new hunting boots muddy and snacked like a king. Good times ! Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk
  9. In the blind with Jr. Already pounding down some snacks Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk
  10. Send it! Always a tough call, but when there's no regrets it's a fantastic feeling. Now you get to give that giant time to fatten up for gun season.... !! Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk
  11. Heavy west wind. Perfect for this stand....hope it does down for the magic hour Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk

  14. She sure is. I keep a "scope dope" cheat sheet laminated on the gun. Nikon BDC had my third bubble down at 185.... Send it ! Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk
  15. Definately a good idea, but keep in mind what's familiar to the deer your hunting. Even natural scents can get deer weary. If you walked into a pizza place but smelled curry.... Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk
  16. Congrats ! Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk
  17. 183 yards with a 20ga slug gun. Bullseye. Downside is I let him walk from about 75 to 183 before I realized what he was..... Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk
  18. First off, always ALWAYS hunt with the wind in your favor! You do that and you can wear your wife's perfume out there. But, to make me feel better here's my routine. Dead down wind wash and dryer sheets. DDW shower. Ozonics in the cloths locker for the rest of season. Ozonics on stand, and always running. Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk
  19. Since we are on the topic, I give a doe with fawns a pass for the specific reason I know how hard she has worked to keep those fawns alive. Food, predators, weather etc. I respect her hard work. And that's the exact reason I love shooting mature bucks, they work so dang hard at hiding and surviving I love to end that streak with some hard work on my part. Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk
  20. Dare I say the obvious....?? Hang a stand in the backyard ! Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk
  21. Roaving gang of giant flies stopped by to say hi.... Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk
  22. Wind is light and variable. Got mr.O on blast. As long as there's no south to it we are good.... Send it Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk
