  1. Agree 100%. I have a vari-x II on my .308 and will be getting another. No worries from Leupold if anything goes wrong.
  2. Got the letter back from Bushnell. It says Issues found: Eye Piece, Image erector. Recommendation : Replace. Other comments: Impact damage, Serial number missing, Beyond Repair, Discontinued Item. They suggest I buy a new one for $68.91. Even without the serial number they indicated the actual model number of scope. I feel the impact damage is their way out of replacing the scope free of charge. The scope looked great no scuff or scrapes just marks where the scope rings were mounted. Oh well live and learn.
  3. That would seem to be the case. Not sure since it was never dropped or abused in any other way. Used a wheeler torque wrench to tighten rings etc. so not likely it was damaged from mounting rings too tight. To be honest the gun spent very little time in the woods.
  4. Thats great!! I was hoping for the same service.
  5. Saying the erector tube was bent and then me explaining that it had no damage externally. Really no explanation other than a discounted new item for $60. If you search Bushnell Lifetime Warranty you will see similar stories to mine. I was just hoping for a different response. When I told him I would not be buying another Bushnell product and was going to purchase a Leupold once again no response. Honestly I don't think he cared too much.
  6. Got hold of someone. No free replacement. They are offering me a discounted price on a new one since a repair cannot be made. Reticle Erector Tube is bent if I recall the wording exactly. I explained that there is no visible scratches, dents or dings and he didn't respond, I told him to send it back and I will be buying a Leupold to avoid problems like this. He told me to have a nice day and my old scope will be back to me in 7-10 days. Well now the debate is go with a 2-7x33 or 3-9x40 VX-II like my .308 is wearing.
  7. I spent 40 minutes on hold pressing the #1 every 20 seconds. Will try again later. BTW I own Leupold products, this happened to be a gift when I was much younger thus the Bushnell scope.
  8. I will be as soon as I receive letter in mail from them. So far it has only been online notices from them.
  9. If you own or are thinking of purchasing a Bushnell scope with a "Lifetime Warranty" save your money and invest it in a company that will stand behind their product (Leupold, Redfield, Vortex, Nikon). One of my first hunting rifles that was given to me had a Bushnell Banner 3-9 with a "Lifetime Warranty". I starting experiencing the reticle not being perpendicular/horizontal, it looked like and x instead of a plus sign(+). I had read online horrible reviews about warranty issues not being honored by Bushnell. I took a chance and sent mine in with $10 for return shipping hoping they would fix or replace my scope free of charge. I just received my invoice of almost $60 to repair the scope, mind you it can be purchased for approximately $100. Needless to say I will not have the scope repaired and will invest the $60 towards the purchase of a scope where the company will actually stand behind their product. BTW the scope was never dropped, submerged or abused; to be honest the scope did not even have a scratch on it. I would really like to know why Bushnell would charge for an apparent "Lifetime Warranty" Needless to say I will not purchase another Bushnell product and am glad that my other recent scope purchases have not been Bushnell's (Leupold for me). Once again Buyer Beware.
  10. I installed and set it up, very easy to do. I haven't done a comparison or had someone listen while I shoot with it or without it so I cannot comment if the bow is quieter or not. My bow was never loud that I ever noticed. When it warms up I will test more to see if it made any difference. The weight issue and getting in the way of your hand is a non-issue.
  11. Thompson Center Firearms long eye relief pistol scope, 2.5-7X power by 28mm. Designed to handle high powered, heavy recoil handguns. Included Weaver style scope rings. Excellent condition, no scuffs or scratches. 150$.
  12. http://www.dickssportinggoods.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3998265&kw=string+decelerator&origkw=string+decelerator This SIMS Limbsaver universal string stop seems like a good deal. Pair it with an online coupon code for an extra 25% discount and for under 25$ it could be yours. How do I know? I just bought one. I will let you know how it is on my 2010 hoyt turbohawk.
  13. On Friday I had a tiny fawn bed down 20 yards from me. I haven't harvested a deer yet this season so the thought quickly crossed my mind to take her but she was pathetically small. She stayed for 45 plus minutes. I started using a deer call on my phone rattling off every call known to man, she didn't budge. I even stood up drew down on her and she still wouldn't go. I even started barking, howling and "talking" to the fawn and it still did not move. It finally bolted after the wind swirled and she got a whiff of me. Strange to think with all the commotion and movement I made she wouldn't have taken off. The coyotes will probably get her.
  14. I was unable to connect on opening weekend not for lack of deer but lack of good shot opportunities etc. What are your opinions on the next few weekends pertaining to deer activity due to the opener, shooting etc.? In your experience do they go back to a normal routine or become less likely to move or go into thicker cover? Have your success rates been high after the gun opener?
  15. I would normally setup a permanent stand but since I hunt with a friend who has permission from landowner I cannot set one up. I have brought my climber and sometimes I sit on the ground. We usually arrive to the woods by 6 am and it takes 15 minutes to get to a spot, I then usually leave 10:30 ish. There are pros and cons to both. Just wanted some opinions on what you think. I am going to be hunting sat and sun am's only. Would really like everyone's opinion.
  16. Im not passing judgement. My time is usually limited and after eating tag soup last season I was definitely thinking about shooting that button buck.
  17. I passed this year on a button buck at 8 yards. Just didn't feel right about it.
  18. I have friends that hunt Whiskey Joint and in their words there are "Slammer Bucks" out there. I have not personally hunt there but trust what they have seen and harvested.
  19. No big deal. I have a .308 chambered rifle and handgun and shoot 7.62x51 out of both of them with no problem. Ballistics are slightly different than my hunting loads but still good for plinking.
  20. Can be had here for $96 http://www.seagearmarine.com/bogs-mossy-oak-blaze-boots.html?gclid=CKii2YDqrsECFbNj7AodiEYATg
  21. Boggs hunting boots. I climb with my summit viper no problems. I had an issue with a pair and emailed them. They had me send a pic of the problem and sent a new pair to my house within a few days. Great customer service.
