    New bow!

Spec wise it looks very close to my Hoyt Turbohawk. I think you will love it!
  3. Yes. Call these guys and ask away. They are very knowledgeable and are quite vocal against the safe act. My buddy purchased just a lower from them recently. Target Sports Schenectady NY 518-355-8923
  4. Try Catskill Mountain Firearms or Saugerties Outfitters.
  5. I just do as my marine father who spent some time in the vietnam jungle tells me too when it comes to firearms. It worked thats all I can say. Its certainly easier to do it his way than not and hear how you did it wrong. Fathers. Gotta love em.
  6. You could try to soak it in hoppes or kerosene. I did this with a Savage bolt that would not eject properly. I used the kerosene and it worked very well.
  7. We do it all the time and it works awesome. We use thin cable with a loop on both ends, wrap it around golf ball and tow away with a tractor, four wheeler or truck.
  8. I saw these and thought they looked pretty interesting.Let us know how they work if you decide to shoot them. I may try some Ramcats or QAD exodus this season after reading about them. They same to have excellent reviews regarding pass throughs, but I am concerned as well as others regarding the legality of the inerpretation of barbed broadheads.
  9. No I have not. The ballistics are very similar, velocity is almost identical and the 30-06 has maybe 150 ftlbs energy more. I would imagine it would not be too different. Don't think that the .308 is a pussycat but I do enjoy shooting it. Any given time I go to the range I will fire a minimum of 20 rounds if I am shooting something else, if that is all I bring I shoot close to 60 rounds.
  10. I have a .308 encore handgun that shoots sub moa with 150 grain Remington Core-Lokt ammo, absolute tack driver. I have shot Military FMJ and it does well just not as good, good to plink with. You are probably thinking plinking with a .308 handgun is nuts but it is my go to range gun. I have so much fun with it and so does everyone else who shoots it, even non handgunners.

    New Peep

Phade, I didn't know what I was missing out with until I made the switch. What a difference in field of view and light.
  12. Agreed. Back in the day bought several bricks and ended up throwing them out. Too many FTF and seemed like half charges plus they fed like crap.

    New Peep

The difference is like staring thru a straw vs looking down a culvert pipe!!

    New Peep

Had a 1/4 inch peep installed today. I had a 3/16 peep from day one on the bow and it always seemed blurry I had always thought it was my contacts drying up or me straining so much to see clearly. The 1/4 inch peep has made all the difference. Nice and clear and I can now see my entire sight, my field of view is so much better and I am driving tacks better than ever. I wish I had done this sooner. What peep size are you guys shooting? How do you like em?
  15. If you dont mind me asking what speed are your bows and what arrows are you using on targets like this? I ask because i purchased a big green brand archery target and my arrows would be buried 3 inches from the fletching. They rated their target for 350fps. I called them they sent me a new and improved target for free. Kudos to them on their customer service. The new block works well but am always looking for multiple targets to shoot at. I am shooting a hoyt with easton axis arrows(very thin) probably in the high 200 fps range but definitely under 300fps.
  16. According to most info available the .308 round is hotter than the NATO 7.62 round. The concern is usually going to a military style weapon and using .308 and not 7.62 NATO which it was designed for. I have personally shot .308 and 7.62 NATO out of current production bolt actions as well as a break open T/C .308 single shot. The only issue I had was the 7.62 was a bit tighter thus making it more difficult to extract from the T/C, in the bolt action absolutely no difference was felt.
  17. Good point. I found that at 5 seconds I had maybe 5-10 photos of the same deer meandering about. I will increase my time.
  18. Was thinking about making a few lifelines and tying prusik knots for my stands. With this much rope you could make 20 lifelines. Tensile strength is 6525 lbs and safe working load limit is 1305. Most of my research has shown a minimum of 4500lb tensile and 300 lb working load limit. I am hoping someone with experience in climbing or tree felling can chime in. http://www.sportsmansguide.com/net/cb/cb.aspx?a=1518121
  19. The shots I got were approximately a hundred yards on the edge of a thick area. At that distance the deer appeared relatively small . I was able to determine whether they were buck or doe and watch them stop to go the bathroom. Zooming in on the image was not effective at this distance due to the whopping 1.3 megapixels. I feel this is definitely not a replacement for a good trail cam but cheaply serves the purpose to help identify travel corridors during daylight hours. link to a professional review www.chasingame.com/index.php?id=223
  20. I bought a Primos DPS which is essentially a plot watcher at Dicks for $35.00 on sale. I had it set-up to take a photo every 5 seconds and all pictures are taken 1/2 hr before sunrise and 1/2hr after sunset. After 5 days my 8GB card was close to full and cheap AA batteries had a 1/4 charge left. The software given to you is a bit clunky, slow to start, play etc but once up and running it is like watching freeze frame photography at whatever speed you choose. I was able to pick up where deer were walking from and to so I can get a better idea of where I may hunt next year. I plan on getting it back out in the woods soon in a new spot and see what kind of action I get in that area. Overall for the money I think it is definitely worth it.
  21. Gotcha. If he was closer that coulda worked out.
