Just what it says. What do you think? More deer, less deer seen? More deer hunting success for you or the group you hunt with?? Not meant to be a debate just an informal survey on the 2012 Deer Hunting Season. My experience this year has been mixed. I have seen plenty of deer just not while hunting. I even witnessed a large 8 pointer breed a doe in the middle of a field. I struck out during the bow season after several weekends of hunting. I struck out on opening day weekend and the week and weekend after opening day. In years past it is not uncommon for me to see dozens of deer on a daily basis, especially opening day of gun. Didn't see a thing after an all day sit of gun opener. Friends and family that hunt have experienced much of the same. Normally see a lot of deer and for whatever reason they are not seeing them. I am hoping to get out there and seal the deal. I will be out until late bow/muzzleloader season if need be.

I have a neoprene scopecoat that I put on my Leupold scope so it doesnt get banged up or any debris on the lenses when I use my climber and lay my rifle on the ground.

Years ago I was loading my car and had everything on the ground next to it. Drove to hunt with a friend and realized I left my shotgun in the driveway. OOPS! Called the wife to verify I didnt rrun it over, everything was ok.

I passed on the same situation this year twice. One of the fawns still had spots on the very top of its back. It was licking momma's face at point blank range from me. Enjoyed my time observing them for over 10-15 minutes before they moved on.

Been out a few times. Kicked up some deer one pm going to my spot. Today got winded by 2does and 2 unknown deer only saw the two does and the other 2 took of with the 2 doe. Wind was gusting to 30MPH so I'm not surprided they winded me.

Agreed 100% People just seem to be hanging on every little word . Makes it very difficult to post quickly. Must proofread or be ready for the accusations if not worded 100%. Most of us aren't English teachers, just regular people sharing a common interest.

I have read all the info. online regarding encounters with Black Bears. You should make presence known, look bigger, talk softly, walk away while facing etc. etc. Now the question is what have you done if you encountered a bear?? Have you ever been charged by a bear?? Are you or should you be concerned about walking in the woods especially early morning(dark) and stumbling upon a bear?? I ask these questions because while out bowhunting came upon a considerable amount of bear scat. I then thought I have a bow and arrow, what are the chances of fatally shooting a bear that may be moving toward me? I feel much more comfortable during gun season knowing you can fire multiple shots if need be. But still have the issue of hiking in the dark and target acquisition. Maybe I am making something out of nothing but would like to hear your experiences.

This is the info regarding my inaccurate school tax increase you wanted to know about. 2010-11 it cost me 3535.20 and in 2011-12 it cost me 3618.00. Assessed value is 180,000 so I multiplied 180 times the rate for the given year. So the increase was $82.80. Bethlehem School Tax Rates Listed below are the school tax rates for the past several years. Tax rates are per $1,000 of assessed property value. 2011-12 $20.10 2010-11 $19.64 2009-10 $19.10 2008-09 $18.79 2007-08 $18.09 Sorry the formatting got screwed up. -

I did use see through ny for the salaries, the other top earners were all administrative. The town I live in has average income of $85,000 and 21% earn %150,000 or more, boy I feel poor now. I still am happy with the school district here and what I pay for the education of my kids including the $82.80 school tax increase we had last year. -

Those are some awfully high salaries. I looked into my district and we are nowhere near $160,000 salaries for our teachers, it is upstate NY however not LI. The highest paid teacher is making around 120,000 they teach technology(shop) and driver ed after school. He has probably been there 30 years or more. I dont have a problem with my school taxes, they only went up $82.80 since last year. I have children that attend and receive a great education. Our school has been ranked in the top 100 in the nation and always is battling for the top spot against other local schools. We will see what this year brings with a 2.3 million loss of aid from the state to the district. Seems to me Long Island and Upstate NY are operating on two different levels. -

Thought this was interesting. Shows how much items have gone up in price over the years. http://www.dailyfinance.com/2009/12/29/then-vs-now-how-prices-have-changed-since-1999/
