  1. One only need look at what is happening in Israel to understand why law abiding citizens here be allowed, in fact encouraged to be well armed, and prepared to protect their families, neighbors, and maybe even the Country itself. Think it can't happen here? Guess again! With the millions of illegals flooding into this country, don't bet the farm or your family's life on it.
  2. Grampy I'm reading the above form that says that a physician must sign that the applicant has a disability that makes them incapable of drawing, holding, etc. a legal longbow. Is there another form that now identifies diabetes, hypertension, etc as qualifying disabilities?
  3. Same here. Wife washed everything in Tide and been hanging for about two weeks on back porch in the breeze. Had does all around me this morning and a couple yesterday. We used to laugh years ago, when I got a couple really nice bucks on evening hunts after hanging out for lunch at my buddy Mario’s pizza place in Oriskany Falls. I used to tell him I had to get the smell of his pizza sauce on me to get the deer to come to me. Lol
  4. Early on I was a fanatic. Used to keep the few hunting clothes I owned in garbage bags filled with apples and leaves from the trees I used to sit under, hunting from the ground. As time went on and I took to the trees I get a lot more relaxed about it. Still hang my clothes on the open back porch, and watch the wind.
  5. Clean miss on a fat doe about half hour ago. Had just squeezed the orange rubber pig a few times quiet and in cam a tiny fawn with no spots, a full size doe and a bigger doe. They were in same trail all facing me under ten yards from my stand. The fawn was nuzzling the one doe, and the doe grooming her. So I figured that was her momma. The bigger doe browsed about a few yards ahead. When they were all blocked from my view I went to draw the bow and could not get it back the first try. I have two plates and 13 screws in my left wrist after falling off a ladder a few years ago. It cause a lot of weakness in that wrist and sharp pain when I draw back. My second attempt to draw was a success and then I had to hold full draw for a very long time until the big doe cleared some trees. It actually was not bad because I rested the bow at full draw against my leg to steady it. Finally she gave me a great quartering away shot and I took my time to try and either slip it behind her leg and into the heart or have it miss if need be under her. I can live with a miss but not feeding the coyotes up here. (Had one go by me this morning limping) When I shot I was pretty sure it was a pass through and I had her. She flinched, acted startled, then bolt a few yards and stopped I thought she was going to tip over in front of me. The other deer just stood and watched, then one walked over and sniffed the arrow sticking out of the ground. I took a bunch of pictures of them and a little video too after shooting. Eventually they all wandered off so I quietly got down and went to my arrow. As it turned out it was a clean miss just under her. The one thing I did learn though is I miss judged the distance. I only use one pin and practice only out to around 20 yards and try to limit myself to that. She was actually closer to 30. Deer are moving a lot this morning. As I’m typing this, 4 more does just came down the hill about 60 yards up hill from me. I guess I’ll stay out here a while longer today. I just might get a second chance.
  6. Yup! Blue skies looks like. Cool and breezy. Good luck to all who are out there!
  7. Holy crap! Anybody as goofy as me out their now sitting with there bow in the steady rain? It slowed enough before I headed up to make me think it might stop. Guess again!
  8. Remember their mantra. You will own nothing but will be happy !
  9. Boy oh boy does this one hit home for me. My 2016 Ram is a PIA changing bulbs. The first time I faced it I thought I was gonna have to hand in my man card! Luckily, I was successful in changing the bulb, and retained my dignity.
  10. That's a sweet looking reel! I love the old stuff too. Catching even the smallest fish, I think will feel extra special because of the connection to past memories. Just like taking a deer with a bow or firearm from our days past, or left to us by someone important to us. Hope you land a nice one!
  11. Good luck! Looking forward to being able to take my grandson, and finally have a hunting partner again.
  12. I rarely have internet connection when I’m on stand, but when I do I like to share on the Live From the woods thread. Even if it is only two does. I just thought people were like me when it comes to getting excited over what’s going on out there. With me still working at my age full time in the medical field, I like the read about what people are seeing in the field when I’m not able to be there myself. Deer, squirrels or what ever, I picture in my mind what it feels like to be there myself. oh…. Now I need to get back to work and see patients. Glad I was able to see the successful squirrel pic during my lunch break. My turn tomorrow!
  13. Red sky in morning sailors take warning, but deer hunters get excited! Good luck!
  14. Sweet ride! I sold my Springer Softail many years ago because I never had time, and my kids were young and I worried about them being without me if something happened. Like you though, been thinking about it a lot lately. Safe travels!
  15. Fawn losing her spots and her momma just trotted pst me at five yards. Her mouth open and grunting as she went past. Momma stopped perfect broadside then walked past into the bushes. The leaves crunching as they came from behind me really got the ticker going. Lol
  16. Got home from work, wolfed down an omelette made from our chickens eggs and veggies from our garden. Now sitting for the last of the evening in my pine tree stand. Not so much interested in shooting a deer in this heat than I am getting a short break from the world’s craziness. My therapy time!
  17. Seasonal workers. Don’t worry. My prediction is they will be back. Election season.
  18. Again, totally predictable (and call me a conspiracy theorist, but likely planned or at least anticipated)outcome. A-hole sheep keep voting for those who see to strip us of our American birth rights. Just the tip of the iceberg, of what is in store for us. When will people see, their plan has nothing to do with hunting?
  19. I’m sitting here wondering just how many people are out there have just weighed the risk/benefit or cost benefit profile, and decided the aggravation and costs involved in purchasing firearms and ammunition is simply just not worth it to them. The left I think may be winning as the rank and file, and would be firearms enthusiasts and hunters just say F-it. This has much further reaching consequences in my opinion than hunting and shooting sports. Forgive my tying, spelling and grammar if it’s messed up. Trying to share my thoughts here as quickly as possible to get back to work.
  20. Just came out for lunch break and saw this. Happy Birthday Eddie! Enjoy your day!
  21. While I don't despise the people themselves personally, I do despise their actions that have resulted in this entirely predictable situation we face. A quick show of hands. How many on this site (or previously here) voted this country into this mess? Anybody have integrity enough to admit it? At the rate were going we may end up having to hunt with boomerangs!
