  1. When I’m in Alaska it’s crab for me, followed by salmon, cod baskets from Rocky’s in Kasilof, and then halibut. In NY it’s perch fry’s in Ogdensburg, NY. I also like native trout (not stockies) , and Springtime bullheads.
  2. I would not have liked that when the teeth thing happened. Lol. I’ve seen them scoot up a tree in no time flat hunting squirrels.
  3. They look like they've been around for a while. And, it's interesting how different the characteristics are between the two racks.
  4. Headed back out, and fresh out of ideas. lol Good luck to those still pressing on until the end!
  5. Got a late start. End of season tiredness and fell back to sleep. Now on stand in 7m. Just when you think it could not get prettier you are blessed with a morning like this to behold.
  6. I try like heck to knock them down in the woods enough that they don't get to the goldenrod. It is a nightmare to find them when they do without snow. They can be a couple feet in front of you and still not be seen.
  7. I like to put my stands in corners, brushy travel corridors, and pinch points. I also try to position my stands so I''m shooting into my property, and far enough into my property that any final bolt a deer might make after being shot has it die or bed down on my land. If you have good neighbors it might be a different set of factors for you. If you are good with neighbors I would have a stand at the lower blue line in the strip between the triangle wooded area pointing down and the square located in the upper that is outlined in red. If not good with the neighbors, I would have a stand in the pinch point between the same square and the white spot (Fo) that are all outlined in red.
  8. The nation itself has become a joke around the world for the very same reasons you point out. Watching the country implode, as our enemies sit back, wait, and watch and hope for us destroy ourselves until they can come in a pick up the pieces. In my opinion; all Americans better wake up, see the writing on the wall, and unite before it’s too late. The United States of America.
  9. Wow is it pretty on the hill this morning! Dead silent, coated in snow and no wind. 7m
  10. Gonna try to get out tomorrow if it’s not down pouring. Fingers crossed for no more rain.
  11. Wishing you all a Merry Christmas, and a safe and healthy New Year! NYH
  12. Here we go again. Yet another ill conceived action to piss people off. If you go by the NY definition of "hunting", "To hunt—means to pursue, shoot, kill, or capture (other than trap) wildlife and includes all lesser acts that disturb or worry wildlife, whether or not they result in taking" and apply it to this new legislation, "The new law makes it unlawful for an individual to organize, sponsor, conduct, promote or participate in any contest, competition, tournament or derby with the objective of taking or hunting wildlife for prizes, inducement or entertainment." doesn't it also put the screws to field trials? I raised, hunted, and trialed beagles for many years, and we were always on the look out or anticipating his kind of thing. It looks like it has arrived. Oh I know. There will be those out there ready to say it's just another conspiracy theory.
  13. My thinking is; this is all meant to try and raise enough tension to actually trigger a response from people who have had it up to their ears with the obvious BS. This in turn will give the political overlords a reason to lock everyone down, instill fear, further divide us, label and lock up people who speak out, so they can take control over the next election “for the sake of our democracy”. I hope people see through this scheme, remain peaceful, and don’t fall for their trap.
  14. These things are great because they are dual purpose. They make dragging a deer out easier, and if the wearer croaks over it’s easier to drag them out. Lol
  15. Hey folks. Let me show you this rub from about a week ago. In bad weather the deer often go bed in my hemlocks. At first I thought it was blood, where a deer slammed up against the tree after being shot. But, when I put my flashlight right up to it I could see it was the color of the bark below the surface and had been rubbed. It looks like brow tines or the base of the skull, as you can see where the other points ticked the bark off to the left side of the rub area. I have never seen a tree this large rubbed by a deer anywhere. Judging from the impressions in the bark it must have some real width.
  16. I'm surprised how much late season rub and scrape activity is going on out there this year.
  17. Thank you! With the weather so warm, I had to get it take care of and int the freezer quickly.
  18. Yikes what a thought! lol Her back legs are there but under the leaves. She's laying on the side I shot. I worry about putting to much specific in case anyone anti reads this stuff. It is not always pristine. Or silent, as I was reminded yesterday. Basically, being so close to me the first shot was too high and put her down, the second shot thankfully was in the exact right spot and quickly finished the job .
  19. Thanks Al. It did work out fine, and actually shook me more than it should have. She is a nice one.
