  1. lol Good! The plastic coated one's make lousy toilet paper!
  2. Maybe he was just helping out gray squirrels identify as red squirrels!
  3. I never excepted the PM to jump ship when the exodus occurred. While it bummed me out to see some leave, I was glad to see the arrogant, name calling, self proclaimed medical and political experts hit the road. While me and my family were under enormous pressure taking care of patients, and with me working away from home on the front line taking care of veterans with serious mental health and medical needs the entire "The War on Covid", I had to listen to many sitting home on their asses getting paid spew their hatred, ignorance, and venom. And, when one went so far as to personally attack me and reference me as a Nazi when I expressed my American patriotism and I did not jump on the hey I'm a Ukrainian bandwagon, I knew I had enough. Again, one only need go back and read the old posts to see which members were in the end on the side of things that turned out to be correct. I have no ill will for many who left, but I must be honest and say there were several who I feel were, or at least tried to be, the real destruction of this site and I am glad they left. In the end, I think they failed at that mission to bring this site down and some can't let it go. I hope the one's who got it all wrong and now share personal responsibility for voting for this world mess, have a shred of integrity and can look into their kids and grand kids eyes and say I'm sorry. But I doubt it! Where you and I differ FS, and that's ok, we just seem to see things differently in this regard. I do enjoy hearing about people shooting squirrels, rabbits, big and little deer, how to pickle heart, how the garden is doing, etc. I even like to hear when people "saw 9 deer tonight with two being small bucks not big enough to shoot". I like to hear about all kinds of things related to the outdoors from people who like to share their thoughts and experiences. There were a couple people that left who I really admired with their skills at making venison sausage and such, and would have loved to have learned from them. I'm still working full time at my age in a very hectic, challenging, physically and emotionally draining profession, and my time to be in the field is limited, so I do enjoy getting the connection even through the eyes of others. I don't have anyone to hunt with anymore since all grew up and moved away or died. So the deer camp experience I enjoyed, for me is gone. Young or old, I'm happy as can be for someone when they shoot a doe, a spike, or a huge rack buck, because to me it's all good. If someone has the lifestyle that allows them to be able to spend lots of money and time locating a big buck, and access to the property, and they can grit it out and kill the deer, I would high five them. I would high five and congratulate you FS! But, I suspect most people don't have the good fortune of endless free time and money even if they have the skill set to accomplish the same thing. So, I high five and congratulate anyone who has a successful hunt and a smile on their face. : ) P.S. I have several really nice bucks mounted from my younger days, as well as a full bear mount, bear rug, a bunch of racks and hides all gathering dust on the walls of my garage. They mean nothing to anyone other than me and when I die will probably just get tossed. Just like money, they say you can't take it with you. But I'm hoping I will be able to take my memories. And you know what? My favorite deer memory was my first deer taken, a spike horn, with a Robinhood Little John bow, and my retired Army Major uncle lifelong hunting partner, now long gone, putting his finger in the blood and streaking it on my face as a ritual, and the look of pride on his face. That's my favorite hunting memory, not any of the wall hangers in my garage.
  4. Get ready for the trolls people! Just watch how many of the pot stirrers start showing up here again.
  5. I gave permission for a fella at work for him and his buddies to hunt my property with their hounds this weekend to run coyotes. I told him I brush hogged much of the fields, so they should be able to get decent shooting, and I left my gate open so they can have easier access. He was appreciative, said thank you, and said he would let me know if they are successful. Fingers crossed they take a few out!
  6. When I’m in Alaska it’s crab for me, followed by salmon, cod baskets from Rocky’s in Kasilof, and then halibut. In NY it’s perch fry’s in Ogdensburg, NY. I also like native trout (not stockies) , and Springtime bullheads.
  7. I would not have liked that when the teeth thing happened. Lol. I’ve seen them scoot up a tree in no time flat hunting squirrels.
  8. They look like they've been around for a while. And, it's interesting how different the characteristics are between the two racks.
  9. Headed back out, and fresh out of ideas. lol Good luck to those still pressing on until the end!
  10. Got a late start. End of season tiredness and fell back to sleep. Now on stand in 7m. Just when you think it could not get prettier you are blessed with a morning like this to behold.
  11. I try like heck to knock them down in the woods enough that they don't get to the goldenrod. It is a nightmare to find them when they do without snow. They can be a couple feet in front of you and still not be seen.
  12. I like to put my stands in corners, brushy travel corridors, and pinch points. I also try to position my stands so I''m shooting into my property, and far enough into my property that any final bolt a deer might make after being shot has it die or bed down on my land. If you have good neighbors it might be a different set of factors for you. If you are good with neighbors I would have a stand at the lower blue line in the strip between the triangle wooded area pointing down and the square located in the upper that is outlined in red. If not good with the neighbors, I would have a stand in the pinch point between the same square and the white spot (Fo) that are all outlined in red.
  13. The nation itself has become a joke around the world for the very same reasons you point out. Watching the country implode, as our enemies sit back, wait, and watch and hope for us destroy ourselves until they can come in a pick up the pieces. In my opinion; all Americans better wake up, see the writing on the wall, and unite before it’s too late. The United States of America.
  14. Wow is it pretty on the hill this morning! Dead silent, coated in snow and no wind. 7m
  15. Gonna try to get out tomorrow if it’s not down pouring. Fingers crossed for no more rain.
  16. Wishing you all a Merry Christmas, and a safe and healthy New Year! NYH
