That last tree you just show, the state land i have has two or three and they would be perfect for ground hunting. I love hunting on the ground because i have this feeling of being able to be right there where the action is occurring just love it!

He was taken out by dale, ny.

Got this Four pointer last weekend of October on a Saturday. Came in around 8:00am, and pulled back the bow. Released and the arrow went and got him at 30yards, where he would eventual fall 10 yards from where i shot him. And he is my first deer ever with a bow!! P.S I wasn't warn when the photo was being taken!

speaking of wyoming county(9h) i was just there saturday and im pretty sure it was the seeking phase. I had a shot at a doe, but she took off along with a buck. Then around 10:00am 2 big bucks i think, came running with their heads down following a doe trail. So yeah i think the rut has started for my area!
-
Very nice buck, is that the same buck in your profile pic too?

I know this would never happened but why don't they stop selling the baits in general or only allow it to people who have respectable use for the bait and with a license. I was at gander a couple weeks ago and the acorn rage shit was almost all sold out and I had to laugh and say "cheaters"

alright thanks, yeah they seem to move along the creek and the ridge top(old logging road) so never hurts to try it, thanks.
-
its cornerd on three sides of the field. Hard woods on two sides with pines on the other side of the field. Then there are trails running parrel with in the field. On the inside there is a creek hundred yards away then trail leading from that towards the scrape
-
Oh the scrape is on the inside of the woods next to a field with deer trail comeing in and out and fresh scat. Does that help?

I have shot the H&R slug gun before. But mine was in a 20gauge with a red dot using Winchester super X slugs(i think that's what their called) I can honestly say its pretty freaking accurate. Have shot at distance from 10-50yards and would say it can hit a bull eyes 99% of the time.
-
lol, i probaly will just do a trap and release with them. I might just use a crossbow.
-
They usualy display the camo before gun season a week or two, but i do know that gandermountain has all their orange out.
-
Well let me put it this way, there are two major bucks i want sadly i can only get one during gun and one during bow. The scrape is located on a tree line that a foot away from fields. The deer seem to travel through there from there bedding area or down the hill. The food sources are apples, acorns and corn. I will be using antler ice though, so hopefully that stuff will attract the deer towards me when visiting the scrapes.

I use to go our in levi blue jeans and a wife beater, never even know i was there. When winter came though i walk out there with my wool blanket and poke holes through it, best idea since slice bread.

This past weekend, while out hunting i did a little bit of scouting(it was windy too). While walking i found a potential spot for me. Their were two or three scrapes with licking branches all around them. Each one had trails come out of them like an intersection. With this knowledge i had a plan to hunt it with the "J" hook method. How successful is scrape hunting and is their any action at the scrape during shooting hours?
-
What if the deer are watching you walk to your stand and avoid that area purposely. I herd that some deer will do that and not even go to that area until that person has left(pattering) In the photo, you mark the bedding area down and you walk right by it.

I think east otto state forest is about a 30 minute drive from there.
-
Is there s plsce where i can get the summits such as gander mountain or Dicks sporting goods. (buffalo area)
-
Do you recommend any good makers for the climbers?
-
yeah the lone wolfs look amazing, it just the price of them are expensive i think. But i have been looking into the ol' man, gorillas, and the summits tree stands. Not sure though i just want to know what is harder to do though a climber, what if there is a branch in the way etc. but with a hang on it could be a pain setting each latter up individually.
-
i was wondering i could get some help my decision on getting a tree stand. I will not be getting the Guido web this year, most likely next year. I am deciding over to get a hang on or a climber tree stand. My hunting takes place on state land.(i do both gun and bow) I was wondering what would be better suited for me a hang on or a climber. Also what are the advantages and disadvantages that come with them. My price limit will be 200 if that helps to.

What could have made this pile of pinecons?

I'm going with Bigfoot -
thanks guys, now i know what to expect this weekend when i go out. Hopefully i get the one i been waiting for. Guy this weekend told me he seen him walk an old logging road!!

I've always wander how fast deer reflexes realy are and how to overcome them. Since last year is when i started wondering. The old man took a shot at a spiker at roughly 20 to 30 yards out. With in a second or two the deer duck the shot and ran off. My question to all the bow hunters out there is how to over come the reflexes? When do the deer begin to "jump the string"(i think thats what its called when the deer ducks). Do they do it at 5, 10, 15 and so on. Is it increased when the deers alert and the speed of the bow a factor(I shoot a diamond outlaw if that helps)?
