I know it is the law, but I have to admit I think a bow should be allowed during any open deer season. If a guy wants to use it during firearm or ML season, he is really handicapping himself and isn't taking advantage of the open season at all. As long as he has the proper tags, I say let him use the bow.

Shooting does is part of managing the deer herd and I take them when I can. I find the venison to be good eating too! I'd actually rather take a big old doe than a 1 1/2 year old fork horn buck.

That weed is starting to spread like a ......weed!

I use Firefox but didn't experience any problem.

It's safe to shoot full size slugs through a full choke but you will have to see how it groups. You may also find the recoil is more pronounced. Full choke shotguns tend to kick more when shooting slugs in them.

That's a pretty young bear. Are you in a bear hunting area?

I think a lot of the problem has to do with dirt in the trigger. When the 700 trigger gets a lot of oil in it, dirt can build up inside it and that can cause these accidental discharge issues.

If they feed on red squirrels, I hope one shows up in my area. Red squirrels keep getting into my stuff and I have to keep shooting them. :

I had it happen to me on the range once with a model 700 in .30-06. I released the safety and the rifle fired. Both my thumb and index finger were on the safety knob and nowhere near the trigger. I sold the rifle after that. I believe it can, and does happen on the 700, and even the designer of the trigger has warned of it's potential danger, but the trigger issue has not been addressed. It will not happen on a regular basis and you can not make it happen when you want it to, but it can, and does happen on rare occasion. I'm not sure if newer 700 triggers have this issue as my rifle was made in the 70's.

For a fixed blade knife, I think the Buck 105 is perfect for deer hunters. Carry a folding Buck 110 alongside it and you have just what you need.

The question of where did we go wrong can be easily answered. Americans were forced to feel guilty for the rest of the world's people. All of the elected officials and all of the bleeding hearts forced us to believe we had to help the rest of the world no matter what the cost. We helped the rest of the world until there was nothing left for us to give. We gave it all away. We didn't know we were doing that though, because our so called "leaders" weren't telling us we were bankrupting our economy and treasury, while they lined their own pockets with their "I got mine!" mentality. A country gets the kind of government it deserves though. America elected politicians who did this to us, therefore we did it to ourselves. American's can save this country from total devastation if they start educating themselves about who they vote for and start caring about America sticking to it's core principles and the US Constitution. The biggest problem with doing that is, America has changed so much, at least half of all Americans don't want to do that. They are so brainwashed already, they will never be able to see the solution to this country's problems. I fear because of that, civil war is probably coming in our future.

The AR issue, when boiled down to it's core, is an attempt to allow more hunters to bag big bucks. There are plenty of big bucks out there now, but you need to have a high level of knowledge and skill to bag them consistently. That is something to strive for and be proud of. It also gets well deserved praise. If the AR issue is forced, bagging a big buck becomes something more hunters can do based on luck. It will actually dilute the pride one can feel when that buck of a lifetime is harvested. The accomplishment will no longer be seen as a meritorious event and looked upon more as commonplace. I see that as detrimental to the core traditions and mystique of deer hunting and hope it doesn't ever come to that.

Does Palladino have a chance?
Mr VJP replied to Mr VJP's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
It's always a choice between bad and worse anyway. You just have to hold your nose and pull the lever for the guy that will be the lesser of the two evils. Besides, if Palladino wins the election, that will send a very powerful message to the status quo that shows, like Carl has been saying, "we are not going to take it anymore!" > My problem is my intolerance for people who don't vote, or vote for Cuomo. I will not be able to be in their presence and keep my composure after the election, no matter who wins. For me it's like tolerating someone who mugged me and was found not guilty in court afterwards. -
I've never heard of any such drive activity anywhere in the state of NY. Drivers should not even be carrying guns, only the standers should. Shooting guns randomly as they push deer would be grounds for citation. Did your report this activity to the authorities? I certainly would have if it happened to me.

Great Hunting Cabin. I'll bet the old guy who built it, and your Dad, are both proud to look down on it and see it as it is today!

Does Palladino have a chance?
Mr VJP replied to Mr VJP's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
I can see some people have no idea what the Tea Party stands for, nor do they know what the real Cuomo agenda is. Do some of your own research on the internet to get the real story and stop believing what you are reading in the liberal media, or seeing on nitwitness news. Cuomo intends to duplicate Obama's national socialist agenda in the state of New York while simultaneously supporting everything Obama has yet to "change". Cuomo's economic policy is "tax and spend more!" If you support that, you will need to leave NY very soon. -
I know they like bird seed. They were coming for my bird feeder in April. Maybe they are after the seeds?

Does Palladino have a chance?

Better that Palladino gets in and accomplishes nothing, than have Cuomo get elected and give us all the shaft with taxes and gun control. > -
Real men don't use latex gloves........for either of those things! ??? ;D
