Blaser slide bolt rifles
Mr VJP replied to Culvercreek hunt club's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
Very nice deer in beautiful country. I can appreciate your rifle also, but I prefer my Merkel and my Kimbers. I won't say more to avoid any hostility from others. -
I think things usually get going in 4P around the middle of this week every year. Nov 12th through the 24th seems to be the best time here every year.

I was out for about 3 hours Saturday morning and saw 2 does. But they also saw me so they never got closer than 50 yards. They were also down wind of my tree stand. I think they may have whiffed me, more than saw me.

Congratulations! You can be very proud!

Reminds me of that Arnold Schwarzenegger movie, Predator. ??? This one could be called "pee-ator or urinator" ;D

Here's a fact that will make you wonder....... McDonald's is the nations largest buyer of cow eyeballs from beef processors! What exactly do they do with cow eyeballs. I guess that's considered beef right? So two all beef patties can have cow eyeballs mixed in and still be all beef, right? They've been asked this question many times but always say, "No comment!"

I lost one while Grouse hunting in thick stuff. it was a real pain to replace it too. It took a couple of days to get to the place where I could get a replacement and I had to stop hunting until I did. The question is not why is it a hassle to wear it, it's why does the law say you have to wear it?

Maybe they'll open the gate for deer season. Can you call the local DEC office for any info?

Looks like the NRA can lose.
Mr VJP replied to jimbodwb's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
NRA spokesman Andrew Arulanandam said that although some races are still being decided, the group made a total of 262 endorsements in House races and 225 of those candidates won. -

No real story here. You think every NRA endorsed candidate wins every election? If that were the case, the entire congress would be filled with NRA endorsed officials. Too bad the electorate is so stupid. It would be nice to see the NRA's message embraced by more voters. -
Lets us know how much you have when it stops. My place is in Delaware County too.

The wardens can't drive around in their cars out back in the Catskills or the NZ. Maybe that explains it better. But years ago I was told it wasn't required in those areas because hunters often camp out in those areas for days and can't be expected to were the tag on their back all day. But they can be expected to encounter a shootable deer all day. Therefore, the law was made more lenient for those two out back zones were hunters camp out for the season.

This could happen to any of us.You can help! Brian's Storyby Free Brian Aitken on Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at 7:30pm http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash2/hs328.ash2/60787_159514700727079_159490174062865_519527_2336568_n.jpg[/img]On August 27, 2010 Brian was wrongfully sentenced to 7 years in prison…help us free him. On June 16, 2010 Governor Christie kicked Judge Morley off the bench from Burlington County Superior Court—but not before Morley could throw an innocent local businessman in jail for driving from one residence to another with his lawfully purchased firearms! At trial Brian Aitken’s defense team showed the jury Brian’s three FBI background checks to lawfully purchase firearms, a number of witnesses—including a Mount Laurel police officer—testified that Brian was moving between residences and all witnesses—including the Mount Laurel police officer—testified that Brian’s firearms were unloaded & locked in the trunk of his car exactly as New Jersey State Law requires…Brian knew how to do this because he had called the New Jersey State Police days earlier to ensure he was in compliance with the law…a fact the Judge ruled inadmissible in the court room. Now, this 26 year old small business owner—with no prior criminal record—is sitting in jail for 7 years simply because a Judge, since removed for misconduct in a different case, refused to allow the jury to apply the state law that allows abiding gun owners to transport their legally owned firearms from one house to another. The jury returned from deliberation three times practically begging the Judge to tell them the law that protects an individuals rights to transport firearms—the Judge outright refused to tell them! The only reason police were searching his car was in response to a 911 call his mother made when she was concerned about his welfare…not the welfare of anybody else. Brian’s ex-wife had canceled visitation of his infant son once again and his mother’s concerns were about Brian being possibly suicidal….she pleaded to the Judge before his sentencing that she had made the call to protect her son, not to have him thrown in state prison. Brian has no criminal record, no violent tendencies, and owned the weapons lawfully purchased in Colorado as protection for his home and family. I believe the law is there so the game warden can see it from afar and not have to get out of his car to check you. That would explain why they don't need to wear them in the NZ and Catskill Park. I once had a warden stop while trolling the back roads, cause he saw me holding a rifle in my back field. I had taken my coat off cause it was warm and was unloading the rifle. He walked 100 yards downhill to me and was pissed when I showed him my license. "You're supposed to be wearing it on your back at all times!", he yelled as he walked back up to his car in a huff!

I think this has to be the call of the professional wildlife managers. If we let politics get involved, it will screw everything up, just like it always does. I will go along with whatever the biologists say is best for the deer herd. I'm also thankful they always explain why they propose something without covering the reason with political double speak.

The 30-06 has more bullet options than any other round. But there aren't many options for a 30-06 in a lever action rifle.

TR19, if you take a look at a ballistics table you will see that the 7mm-08 with a 140 grain BTSP has a trajectory identical to a .30-06 150 grain BTSP. Both sighted 2" high at 100 yards will be on at 200 and 8" low at 300. Energy wise they are equal also. I don't know what drop off you are talking about.

I have Polar Tec pants and shirt for underwear. Light weight and warm. Wicks away moisture. Gotta wash it every use though and watch it doesn't shrink on you in the dryer.

Does Palladino have a chance?

Well NY, you stink again! Will the people in this state never learn? > -
Rather than try and interpret what was a very long election list across the country, I'm going to give you a link to the NSSF's interpretation of Tuesday's outcome. You can read their detailed observations by clicking on this link.

Carhardts are stiff and noisy. I prefer good heavy wool pants. I like them in gray or dark green. Nothing is warmer, but they are heavy. If you want light weight, check out Cabelas. They've got some really nice waterproof, space age camo pants that are great, but pricey.
