  1. It's a great deer rifle for NY. How much did it cost you?
  2. Deer and turkey do see BO for sure. They may not see it like we do, but they surely can see it. It also makes it easier for them to see movement. If you are wearing camo and move a little they may not see it. But if you are wearing BO and move, they will surely see it, as it stands out in the woods against the natural background. That's why they invented camo BO, to try and make it blend in better.
  3. Always used to well bow hunting in NJ on election day. Seems to be in the peak of the rut there.
  4. I don't use a blind on my tree stands. I only use a blind on the ground.
  5. I believe that to be an assumption based on the idea a bow is harder to use. But i think bow hunters are more skilled and are less likely to shoot a deer if they are not sure of killing it. It may be harder to find a bow shot deer, but I don't believe the % of wounded deer is higher.
  6. Nothing wrong with shooting a doe, if you have all the right licenses and permits and are using them in the right season. Each one of those needs to be check in the regs. It would be a good idea for you to read them.
  7. I'd go out there on the opener and see who is in it. Then I'd tell them to get down and call the warden. I'd also keep the stand.
  8. I agree it's a good idea to always check your stand before you get in it. Give it a good shake to be sure its sturdy. Years ago we hunted public land with hiking trails in the area. The nature lovers would attack deer stands if they saw any while hiking. But they would knock them down, not rig them so hunters would get hurt.
  9. I'm a Lifer in the NAHC since 1988. Back then it really was a hunting club and I tested lots of good stuff I still have. Later they got absorbed by a big corporation and now I believe the Brits own them. But as a lifer, I'm still a member. I like the magazine for life and the website forum is still good. I hunt in 4P.
  10. Get your self a wrist rocket slingshot and some ball bearings. If you can shoot a bow, you can shoot one of these. they are quiet and will easily kill squirrels. They are fun to use when squirrels are around and the deer hunting is slow. I don't think there is anything illegal about it either.
  11. Yeah, that's Fishbien. The other guy has the Public Defender. K.G. is already blaming the other guy saying his client didn't do anything because he didn't pull the trigger. Doesn't K.G. know that's not gonna work?
  12. Welcome aboard! What do you mean, "Everybody's a has been?"
  13. I was wondering what the hanging shrubbery is for also?

    New GUY

Welcome to the forum Glenn! Sorry to hear you'll miss the season, but glad to hear from a soldier deployed in Krapistan. You make me proud. I believe hunters make the best soldiers. If you can't hunt in NY this year, hunt what you can over there! ;D May God Watch Over You And Protect You! BTW< where in NY do you hail from?
  15. I agree Doc. I have a feeling this election is not going to be the landslide Cuomo thinks it will be. I believe many NYers are willing to vote for anybody but Cuomo and they will turn out to vote on election day. I'm still rooting for Palladino to win. That would be a huge kick in the toolbox for all of the current incumbents.
  16. I was surprised to hear these were two middle aged men, and not kids. Were they that desperate for meat? Or was that a really big buck they wanted to take as a trophy to impress their low life friends down at the local dive bar? These guys were stupid enough to pull a stunt like that, but they were even stupider to think they wouldn't get nailed for it.

    Hello

    Welcome to the forum.
  18. 2000 acres and only 7 hunters? That's 285 acres each. I think you would be able to hunt deer this year without any trouble if you find out where the other guys are hunting and use an area they aren't using. (That's probably the area the deer have learned to hide out in anyway!) ;D
  19. Welcome aboard quality hunter of the fairer sex! Glad to see you here.
  20. Science must trump emotion every time, where wildlife management is concerned. The statement by the Onieda Lake commissioner that the lake was being fished out, should have been challenged to produce the documentary evidence. If none was forthcoming, the commissioner should have been ignored from that day forward and ultimately removed from the board.
  21. Saw a doe within 10 yards of me on Saturday the 23rd. She was just slowly walking along and feeding. No sign of any rut activity yet. No coyote in the bag yet either. I hunt 4P
