Nice! -
This morning Mitt Romney announced that Paul Ryan would be his running mate.I think he made an excellent choice.Hopefully this ticket will win this Nov and finally get our Country heading in the right direction!
-
I took your advice and mowed the plot this afternoon. Thanks!
-
Thanks for all the complements Yes this is my 1st attempt on a food plot but what I think helped a lot was this was a 7 acre corn field 5 yrs ago.A farmer used this field for many years for crops so I didn't have to add lime or fertilizer.4 yrs ago I planted 5000 japanese larch and left a 2 acre strip up the center of the field for the food plot. One question I have is ,it was suggested that I spray the plot for grass. What should I use ? White Tail Institute has a herbicide called Arrest, has anyone tried that?

OK guys here's a close up pic.
-
Imperial Whitetail Clover, whatever it is the deer, turkeys and rabbits sure do like it.
-
It's clover from Whitetail Institute.

Heres a pic of my clover plot. Planted it May 13th.It was my 1st attempt at planting a food plot.I tried to do everything by the book, no shortcuts.Looks like it's paying off.

Pine trees that need support.
Lever action replied to First-light's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
I went for a walk this morning and noticed some japanese larch that I planted 4 yrs ago are doing the same thing .We had some strong winds from a thunder storm the other day which I blame for this.I probably have 2 doz trees that are bent over.I looked closely at them and they are not up rooted and the bark isn't broke they are just bent over, some almost lying on the ground.Anyways I had the same thought about putting a stake in the ground and supporting them. -
Thanks adkbuck,Went out this morning and didn't hear 1 gobble or see a bird, also need to buy another red dot scope. For some reason my old one doesn't work anymore.
-

THE GREAT HEALTH CARE DEBATE..
Lever action replied to sits in trees's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
I agree there is a lot of corruption in the government with special interest groups funding both parties, but I think the answer is to allow us to shop for health insurance like we do car insurance. That would help keep cost down through competition.Very big mistake to get the gov't involved. -
Took this picture yesterday, bald eagles becoming a pretty comon sight anymore.

That last one went over so well....

That is so true and the reason why our daughter attends a private Christian School. -
Quote-"This statement wasn't intended towards you." "I was venting, not unlike the rest of you. That's why I try hard not to get involved with this type of thread. Now it's time to enjoy this fresh pot of coffee" I agree , religion and politics don't always mix well! lol

Your a born again Christian and your asking me to prove to you God exist??? I didn't say nobody needs welfare but if our current Liberal President continues on this road of enormous spending and borrowing we will all end up on welfare!

So New York strikes again
Lever action replied to rtozer's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
A nuisance firearm and is being scheduled to be destroyed??? Sounds like he talking about a stray dog. What makes a gun a nuisance? Not the gun that's for sure! Agree, a bunch of BS. -
Your probably right,I may have answered before they completed the list of weapons to use.

At what point do you feel something......
Lever action replied to First-light's topic in Deer Hunting
I know exactly what your saying Burt.I experience the same feelings at times. The best case scenario for me is to make a lethal shot which results in a quick kill but have the deer run out of sight and find it dead. This year I was fortunate to have both deer do that, but as we all know this isn't a perfect world and there are going to be times when our shot placement isn't exactly what we wanted and we have to finish the job with another shot. That's when things can get a little emotional for me. -
Cut firewood, prune apple trees, and get ready to put in a food plot this Spring, maybe some cross country skiing if we get some snow.

Bow hunting with recurve or long bow.
