  1. Apparently he also needs to post in the "Getting old sucks" thread about his memory then. X-Calibur Lighting Systems http://facebook.com/XCaliburLightingSystems
  2. Oh boy! Cop basher alert! Haha! X-Calibur Lighting Systems http://facebook.com/XCaliburLightingSystems
  3. Took one shot at a deer with my .243 this year, and one less deer running around the woods. Wasn't an ideal shot, but the .243 is more than enough to get it done. X-Calibur Lighting Systems http://facebook.com/XCaliburLightingSystems
  4. If you consider hunting and fishing public land an invite, come on down! X-Calibur Lighting Systems http://facebook.com/XCaliburLightingSystems
  5. Enjoy the show! X-Calibur Lighting Systems http://facebook.com/XCaliburLightingSystems
  6. Welcome Pete. We already have spies in your meetup group. [emoji23][emoji106] X-Calibur Lighting Systems http://facebook.com/XCaliburLightingSystems
  7. I don't know many LED modules that doesn't have at least three settings, it's pretty much standard. You start getting fancy when it has advanced features, like memory. X-Calibur Lighting Systems http://facebook.com/XCaliburLightingSystems
  8. Using a filter on an LED flashlight is kind of like driving a Prius with your hand-brake engaged, or one foot on the brake petal. It's a matter of efficiency. I wouldn't go more than 200 lumens for a scanning light, often times much less is needed. X-Calibur Lighting Systems http://facebook.com/XCaliburLightingSystems
  9. Buddy was hunting Montauk this weekend, and next as well. He's still at it with the bow. The sightings are definitely there. X-Calibur Lighting Systems http://facebook.com/XCaliburLightingSystems
  10. As a scanning light, you really want to stay low on lumens. Having a filter will reduce the efficiency on the light. Ideally, you want a red led emitter for a scanning light, as it won't disrupt the human night vision as much as the other spectrums. 1000 lumens running on a single lithium battery for 3hrs is unrealistic in today's technology. Many companies have been pushing numbers, knowing that lumens, flux, and candlepower is hard to measure without special tools. Be wary of this. 11. I also hunt mostly public land as well.... Actually, that's all I hunt since I don't have access to private, lol. But I get it, public land is not "maintained" and you kind of take what you can get. Back at home, you feel like what you let walk will stick around for the next year, hoping to be able to manage a local herd for quality. 400 acres could hold quite some deer. 12. I don't know about butting through that shank bone, but I would say cutting might be easier than butting through it. Sawing would even be better. X-Calibur Lighting Systems http://facebook.com/XCaliburLightingSystems
  13. I don't know much about the 7mm-08, but it seems to be popular, for an unpopular round. I was first intrigued by this round when I found out Pygmy speaks so highly of it. X-Calibur Lighting Systems http://facebook.com/XCaliburLightingSystems
  14. I would imagine that the regs are written in such a way to allow a really heavy bullet to be allowed to be used, where it may be difficult to exceed 650fps, like a 1000 grain .70 cal or something crazy. Allowing a .30 cal also might allow those looking to go supersonic in the 1500 fps range to be able to participate as well. But clearly .30 at 650 fps would require and extremely long and heavy bullet to be effective. X-Calibur Lighting Systems http://facebook.com/XCaliburLightingSystems
  15. I was surprised the minimum was .30 myself, but more so the 650fps minimum. X-Calibur Lighting Systems http://facebook.com/XCaliburLightingSystems
  16. Must have missed that, was under the impression you were against the DEC introducing this implement. Instead of a 150ish grain projectile, maybe a 300ish grain projectile would be more favorable in penetration vs expansion. X-Calibur Lighting Systems http://facebook.com/XCaliburLightingSystems
  17. I really don't care if there is a hollow point that will or will not expand reliably that will penetrate far enough to what you would consider adequate for deer. It's all relative and we can disagree until the cows come home. So let's just leave it at that. Now with these numbers, are Big bore Airguns capable of taking deer sized game? From what I recall, your .45 at 200+gr was pretty good at it. X-Calibur Lighting Systems http://facebook.com/XCaliburLightingSystems
  18. I clearly see a mountain lion. X-Calibur Lighting Systems http://facebook.com/XCaliburLightingSystems
  19. So you don't think Airguns have hardcast? X-Calibur Lighting Systems http://facebook.com/XCaliburLightingSystems
  20. I don't believe it was 350grs. X-Calibur Lighting Systems http://facebook.com/XCaliburLightingSystems
  21. So if your 255gr bullet can do the job at 1100 fps, what makes you feel that a 305 or so can't? X-Calibur Lighting Systems http://facebook.com/XCaliburLightingSystems
  22. Did you see notice the weight of this particular projectile? X-Calibur Lighting Systems http://facebook.com/XCaliburLightingSystems
  23. I've been looking for a spot for those rock doves! Don't be surprised if I show up knocking in the summer! X-Calibur Lighting Systems http://facebook.com/XCaliburLightingSystems
  24. I don't know who's the dummy, but I'm curious as to what did they win? A dove hunt in NY sponsored by you? X-Calibur Lighting Systems http://facebook.com/XCaliburLightingSystems
  25. Forgot to add that, I didn't shoot them in NY. Probably easier to shoot a crow in NY than a dove. X-Calibur Lighting Systems http://facebook.com/XCaliburLightingSystems
