With Rage you have to make sure that the O ring or "shock collar" is good. If either one is worn or broken the blades will just flop around or deploy too early.

I had a big 8 chasing a big doe this morning at a about 730. Less than 20 yards!!! She came by first and he followed about 5 minutes later,,No way I could get a shot, he was on the fast pace to some tail mode. He did that deep grunt that sounds like a hog thing. About a half hour later a small 6 went screaming by, nose to the ground.

I agree 100% But the 770's I have handled, and the one I have shot, are over the top cheap crap. Everything on the stock like the trigger guard and swivel inserts are one big cheap piece of plastic, the actions are catchy and rougher than hell. The triggers are a joke. They sacrificed a lot to make an "Affordable" rifle. The 783's are custom shop competition rifles, compared to these things. If opening day is tomorrow,you are on a VERY tight budget and you can't find a good used rifle, then by all means buy a 770. Don't try to convince yourself that you are getting a good rifle at half the price…you're not.

If its been there that long and hasn't been used then take it. Its obviously abandoned. Over the years, I have taken numerous stands off of our posted property. I don't think twice. I should start selling some of them.

The 783's aren't all that bad. Nowhere near great, but not too bad. IMHO, If you want to see the biggest turd of a rifle, ever put out by a major manufacturer, check out the Remington 770. When you get done laughing..WASH YOUR HANDS!!!!!

Keep your body, clothes and boots as clean as possible. Thats #1 IMHO. Scent killer sprays help a little but they're not the silver bullet. I spray down before I head out and I spay my stand and base of my tree, after each hunt. seems to work OK. Wash your hands , in scent free soap, right before you head out and keep your gloves clean…Hands STINK!!! Take a whiff right now...

Yeah …pretty much..The 2nd amendment is too hard to beat so they will TRY their socialist little end arounds, which do nothing to address the millions of untraceable illegal guns, that are now in the hands of criminal scum and will NEVER BE SURRENDERED OR FOUND. They will never address this fact or the mental health problem. The government knows about the handguns that law abiding citizens have, because these citizens are law abiding and followed the laws.
