    I think someone posted, last year, that they got a bad pack of Rage broad heads. They fell apart or were bad right out of the pack. A few years back I had a brand new Rocky fixed blade fall apart in a block target. I guess you get bad ones now and then, but I can't blame you for not using them again.

    I have had luck using estrus but only during the full rut. I don't start using it until I see chasing going on. That being said, I have never seen the stuff spook deer. Im thinking that it might be your movement that tipped her off. I have been blown at by more invisible deer than I care to remember.

    $415 is a great deal..too bad Im set with a turkey gun... s Stonem2005 thats either a Mossberg 500 or 535 receiver (I think 535) and there are different barrels for both…

    Lightfields for me. They are accurate and devastating on deer….They seem to be a cross between modern sabots and old school slugs. Big honking piece of lead connected to a sabot wad..

    Keep your clothes,boots and body as clean as possible (scent free soap and detergent) and play the wind, although the wind often shifts. I think cover scents and sprays help a little but being clean and using the wind is #1.

    I have trimmed branches one day and had deer come in the next day. I keep a pair or two of latex gloves in my pack. I use them to handle the branches when I trim stuff.

    A good inexpensive set up is the Savage Axis. The local GM has the Axis II with, what appears to be a decent Weaver 3-9, for a little over 400..think it was like 439.99. The Axis II is the Axis, but with an adjustable trigger. Comes in all popular deer calibers. .243 through 30-06. Not sure if it comes in magnum calibers..

    I once made a copy of a key that was clearly marked "DO NOT COPY" . I turned myself in and lost my key privileges for a year. I had to walk everywhere and had to leave my house unlocked for the whole year … But I was guilt free.

    Usually 15-18. I tie a knot at 15' on the line I use to pull up my bow. I climb until the knot is at the base of my climber. Some times I go a bit higher. I have a stand in a big wide apple tree. Since I have good cover, the stand is only 12' high. Maybe a bit less.

    I think the big thing is being clean. shower and keep clothes, boots and gear as clean as possible (use scent free soap of course). I like to kick out an area of dirt, under my stand, before I climb up. I kick until I can smell the dirt. An old time hunter taught me that when I was a kid. I do use scent killer spray before going in and I spray down my stand when I leave. It has worked for me for years and years. I have also used the dirt wafers and can't say that they don't work.

    No problem with mine. ….One thing to watch for is that certain smooth barked trees loose their grip (bark gets harder) as it gets colder out. I have set climbers early and noticed later in the season that the stands slide a bit because of the frozen bark.

    Background checks on all gun purchases is a law right now. Background checks at gun shows is a law right now. Do you think that a criminal(s), with an unregistered untraceable firearm ( of which there are 10's of thousands or more) will load the mag of his illegally possessed firearm with only 10 rounds?? And by the way in NY you can only load 7…….You really believe that?? You are living in a fantasy world where criminals obey laws. See Im not some Pro NRA robot…I just live in the real world, and you need to stop pretending.

    My 835 has the same "old school" camo job but I have the smooth for end , not the "corn cob" grooved one. Think I bought mine in 92 or 93. Besides turkeys I have taken tons of geese, over decoys, with the same gun and 21" barrel with steel shot. I have a Modified Steel/lead choke for it. Worked fine on geese for years.

    MAN!! Last two times out, including this morning, have been dead. Not a thing moving, but Im finding new scrapes all over???? Back at it tomorrow !
