Yet northern ADK deer blow away Catskill deer in both body size and racks,
-
I think age plays just as big of a factor in your example, Catskill deer are shot when they have 3" spikes, what nutrition is more abundant in the far northern Adirondack region than there is in Catskills? Weather is far milder in the Catskills than adk. Plenty of farmland in the southern tier.

Aaron, btw the Suffolk has some of the largest wild turkeys you will see in NYS, they only host a fall junior season as of now and turkey hunting was prohibited until a few years ago, long island turkeys died of old age lol really some huge goblers

As for ticks, spray your clothes with sawyer permathin, it is oderless when it dries and it is a tick repellent/killer, in addition I always duct tape my pants cuffs to my boots, stay out of the real nasty scrub brush and you should he fine

Shawnhu we are not saying hunting in Nassau all hintong properties are in Suffolk however Suffolk residents have more options as there are Suffolk county park land with the additional permits ect... As for the original question yes Nassau residents can deer hunt rocky point, Otis pike, and David Sarnoff park. As of Nov.1st Otis like and rocky point require daily access permits, David Sarnoff to my knowledge is park at designated spots and hunt with seasonal permit displayed in window
-
Nassau residents can hunt Sarnoff preserve without daily reservations
-
I use a neckwarmer/facemask and I alternate between on and off when I see a deer I immediately pull it up.
-
yep put a touch on your ears, neck? grow a 2 day beard
-
the deer at 4yrs old carries the same genetics as when he was 1.5
-
no it's virtually impossible to remove bad gentics by culling bucks, genetics are carried by does as well so if a deer with good genes at 1.5 yrs old carries more headgear than a 2.5 yr old would you still say that's due to birthdate?
-
Three things contribute to antler size – nutrition, genetics, and age. antler size is a heritable trait
-
listen i'm not here to argue like 98% of the kids on this website, if you don't think genetics pay any role in a deers antler potential go crawl back into a hole. or cut and paste something you found from another website to prove me wrong
-
Genetics pays some role in a 1.5yr old deers potential, deer don't gain genetics they are born with it , a 1.5 yr old long island deer that has 10" spikes has more potential next year than one in the southern tier with 2" spikes
-
I was simply stating better genetics, I'd rather basket 6's than scrappy ones
-
Read the reviews on the 887 nitro they aren't very favorable
-
What I don't understand that even though these are young deer in the pics they still lack any growth, they look like Delaware county specials, forkhorns ect.. Even year old spikehorns on the island sport 8-12" tall spikes, 6 pointers typically have baskets even with the ears, I guess we are just lucky to have some great public spots with great bucks
-
Don't think it was worth the $500 I could be wrong but I think you can do better on public land
-
looks like this si the same one
-
again enhanced...
-
Here is the Pic enhanced a bit, it's a scrub 4 point, the branch i was referring too i circled for one of your other images, the placement of that branch makes his left antler appear larger
-
$400 for a semi auto of quality is near impossible unless your looking used
-
Personally I would pick a different location, doesn't seem like you have anything decent on the cam after weeks of being out
-
What you are seeing on the left side is a branch not an antler hooking in, its in your other photos. When I first see the pic I thought wow nice buck, then noticed it was a branch lol
